Hi there,
So listen, I was struggling with a sin/a temptation for a long time, then I finally kneeled and turned to the Lord and in the process I realised that I had had a fundamental change of approach. I used to think what mattered was my flesh and that my soul would be ok as long as my flesh was ok, but this was a lie. Actually, what I believed in sin, was that if I died and I still wanted to sin, God could resurrect my sin. This is different from the attitude I now have: which is that even if I can't sin any more, I want my 'soul' to be resurrected. You can't have it both ways; you can't serve two masters!
What changed? I realised that I had one fundamental choice: take up my Cross and follow Jesus, or revert back to my carnal nature. The thing is, there is no way to understand this, unless you are communing in the Spirit with God. Who God is to you when you sin and when you repent, are two different things. If you go back from repenting to sinning, you are in the Devil's domain. The Devil won't take advantage of every sin you sin, but he will make you sick for it - that it will be the only thing you want. Once you commit to resurrecting your sin, that's it - your carnal nature goes into self-destruct.
So this is where we are: some people on Earth are going to become carnal and self-destruct (possibly even praising God to an extent, on the way) and some people on Earth are going to surrender to God and have their souls saved (and their Heavenly body will be empowered). This is not simply a given; God does not know which way you will go, even for what reason. He [God] does how ever send the Holy Spirit, to provide a way for this choice to be understood by creatures and He [God] does send propitiation in the form of the sacrificial servant - Jesus - to balance that understanding and allow it to be grounded, one way or the other. No-one has to think about their flesh for eternity; no-one has to work for the soul for eternity.
What I am trying to say is: please understand this choice! It is the same power that destroys as that which delivers. We need to let go of the flesh and we need to deliver our soul. Everything else should be trust in Jesus.
I hope this has been an encouragement.
God bless.
