It appears that way - Peter had yet to receive the the Holy Spirit when he did there was no doubt about his faith. He is full of faith in Acts and his letters.A different and bold Peter.

Peter had faith, but he also had doubt. So, it's possible to have both at the same time, and doubt will negate faith.

Why did Jesus say what He did to Peter?

Because Peter started to fear meaning he quit being in faith trusting in the Lord and started being in fear.

Fear is a sin and is one of the things that cause people to go to hell.

Revelation 21:8
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

2 Timothy 1:7
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind

So you know something MORE IMPORTANT than spreading the SAVING Gospel for today ?
Pray tell Jr.

These are the biblical verses that are applicable: -

Matt 17:20-21: - 20 So Jesus said to them, "Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. 21 However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting."
NKJV

Matt 21:21-22: - 21 So Jesus answered and said to them, "Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' it will be done. 22 And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive."
NKJV

Mark 11:22-24: - 22 So Jesus answered and said to them, "Have faith in God. 23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.
NKJV

It i s my understanding that if we pray against false religions, that we can remove the false religions, when the word "mountain" is a metaphor for a religion, and cast that false religion into the sea.

This type of spiritual praying is a precursor to being able to effectively spread the salvation message in an area dominated by the false religions.

It has its place in preaching the Gospel message. It is having eyes to see and ears to hear what Jesus is saying in these instances.

Shalom

So, you would cut your nose off despite your face needing it to live. Perhaps you are doing the same thing here with scripture as the OT suggests that a "mountain" can be considered to be a metaphor for a religion, whether false or true.

There's the faith by which we are saved. This is "all-or-nothing" faith - you either have it, or you don't. If you believe that Jesus is the Son of God and was raised from the dead (John 20:31, Romans 10:9) - you are saved.

But there's also a "gift" of faith that only some Christians are given (I Corinthians 12:9). What might this refer to? Faith that God will do something specific (like move a mountain or allow you to walk on water). This is the kind of situation where one might have a greater or lesser amount of faith to start with - or, like Peter, might have a lot to start with but 'chicken out' halfway through.

Failure to make the distinction between these two kinds of faith causes Christians no end of unnecessary anxiety.

The Gospel of Luke
3:4 As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

3:5 Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth;

3:6 And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.

But what I found is that this mountain can never be moved. The hill can never be straight.
Because they just believe in name, not the word of God.

Confirming that you would rather "move a mountain'' than enter eternity/spread the saving gospel for today.

There are people that have no nose and they continue living just fine.

They can't smell and may not be able to taste, but they still living.

If you believe that Jesus is the Son of God and was raised from the dead (John 20:31, Romans 10:9) - you are saved.

The devil believes that, so is he saved too? What about all his demons?

James 2:19
Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

Oh dear, you love making assumptions about others because of your lack of understanding.

There is no point of "moving a mountain" if you do not replace that mountain with the rock/stone untouched by human hands that will become the largest mountain in all of the earth.

I wonder what religion that will be. Can you guess @rvmb?

It could be based on what these people are saying

More likely what they are saying is based on their false understandings of what is needed for obtaining life for themselves.

Or the other person may need to do a better job articulating what they are seeking to say on the way during the day they earn their pay as the wind makes the trees sway.

You dig?

Well yes, the kind of faith that saves is the kind that produces 'works' - i.e. a changed life.

Faith (the genuine sort) always links to action.

Agree.

"... prepared in advance for us to do." (individually)

I like the KJV for this one.
"... good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."

for vain is the help of man . And deadly is the help of a harlot . They will drown and die in their sins
if one beleives NOT that JESUS is the Christ , the SON of the li ving GOD .
relying on our own abilities and or the ablities of any false religoin is like a man who is drowning
and thinks if i just grab ahold of the air i can save myself . As the air justs whisps through his fingers .
OH YOU BET IT JESUS PREACHING TIME in the house with all reminders of the absolute dire necessity
to have had to BELIEVED ON HIM .
