Plans set for the entire Bible to be read in honor of the USA’s 250 Anniversary.

Blessings.
Won't so many be surprised what the bible actually says the first time they hear it.. It would be great if the Holy Spirit began to work on the crowd of "never read the bible" people. Romans 10:17 - So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.

Wow! You mean people have to pay to hear God’s word read aloud by people who matter to America?

Did you notice the part that says.....

“Opening celebration tickets are a $500 donation to help us finish our budget for this national movement. Get them now - they are still available until 4/17 at midnight. Once you give, our staff will send you a link to claim your ticket.”

Who are getting paid to do this?...and if it’s $500 a ticket, how many tickets will “finish the budget”?

I guess only the rich will purchase tickets to something that should be free for everyone.....where will the poor and homeless gain access to this great event if they cannot afford a ticket, and it’s only available online through streaming?

Is reading the Bible what people need? Or is understanding it more important? God provided teachers for his word, not just readers. Without explanation, God’s word is just words....Christendom is proof that reading is not enough.....and the words can get skewed by those who want to push an agenda....

Honest study of the Bible is what is needed, and only those who are genuine seekers will find the God that hides from the deliberately ignorant.

Jesus sent out his disciples to find the lost sheep....but he didn’t just read the Bible to them....he taught them how to read the Bible with understanding, to show others what it meant.

What if Jesus had charged money to allow people to hear God’s word?

This is a joke...right?

What is wrong with you people?

Just as Ezra read the Word aloud to the people of Israel (Nehemiah 8:1–3), awakening revival and repentance, inspiring them to rebuild the temple, and working with Nehemiah to mobilize the people to rebuild Jerusalem’s walls, America Reads the Bible is a sacred opportunity to call our nation back to its spiritual foundations. Through a public, continuous reading of the entire Bible in our nation’s capital by our national leaders from all spheres of influence, we believe God can spark revival in individual hearts and inspire Americans to carry the Word forward in their lives and communities into the next 250 years of our national story.

I don't know, all these externals. They seem very suspect coming from a Nation which attempts to hone its image at every turn.
God doesn't care for image. He see the heart, dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow.

Wait,
You think it is "suspect" for those we choose to lead us and represent us, that it is somehow "suspect" that they read the Bible to the Nation they serve?

I don't understand what your saying.

The US of A has for decades exported its 'democracy'. It has put forward an image of the ideal society even while invading other countries and forcing them to bow the knee.

This has become clear to the rest of Earth's citizens what the nature of this beast is even while giving lip service to its 'democracy'.
Yes, it has passed the 'suspect' stage and is now confirmed as a determined greedy and intentional oppressor. It is joined in the ranks of others it has accused (and projected its own intentions onto)
The exploitation private capital (for profit) as exercised through your Government is now being exercised on your own people. Yes, Government is beholden to Corporations who buy your politians.

Poverty and oppression in the richest country of the world has not gone unnoticed. Your national debt servicing is now unsustainable even while you ratchet up more.....and who carries the load? The massively wealthy? No no no, it is the ordinary citizen.....many pushed to the limit as the increasing homelessness in your cities, basic infrastructure small business breaks down and collapses, testify to.

.....and now you think that alleviating this systemic problem by continually reading the Bible will offer some sort of solution.
Only the duped would swallow that one.

I know it sounds good at first, but seriously, who is realistically the is going to listen for 7 solid days of just reading the Bible? I could think of nothing more boring to those unacquainted with the Bible to sit and listen to something so foreign to them. Foreign nations, foreign times, foreign activities….unfamiliarity will kill it.

Reading without comprehension is what creates division, unless there is someone who already possesses accurate knowledge, who can explain it, it can mean pretty much anything they want it to.

Much of the history of Israel is bad......it’s about disobedience, excursions into false worship and abhorrent practices that God punished his people for failing to live up to the Covenant he made with them at Mt Sinai, which required strict obedience. Israel’s blessings pale when compared to their punishments and what they did to deserve them.

Through a public, continuous reading of the entire Bible in our nation’s capital by our national leaders from all spheres of influence, we believe God can spark revival in individual hearts and inspire Americans to carry the Word forward in their lives and communities into the next 250 years of our national story.
That is not the way God has prophesied for things to play out in this time of the end....Jesus separates the “sheep from the goats” and deals with each group as the Bible says he will. Being in one category or the other is a matter of people’s choices.
No national reading of the Bible in just one country, for just one nation has any significance, as America is not as important in the world it it thinks it is……and since the USA and other so called “Christian” nations only pretends to be “Christian”....in word they mirror how Jesus portrayed the Pharisees....

“You hypocrites, Isaiah aptly prophesied about you when he said: 8  ‘This people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far removed from me. 9  It is in vain that they keep worshipping me, for they teach commands of men as doctrines.’” (Matt 15:7-9)

The commands of men that violate the commands of God must be resisted. Jesus said “You cannot slave for two masters”….nor can any Christian have one foot in Christ’s church and the other in the world that is ruled by satan. (1 John 5:19)

As Christians are to be “no part of the world” (John 17:16; 18:36) how can they participate in wars and conquests where there is no direct threat to them? By not ever fighting on their own soil, who or what were they protecting?

What is the Anniversary that is tied into this snowy display of American Nationalism? What are they celebrating really? Like my own country, which was also stolen by white imperialists at great cost to the indigenous people, what is to celebrate by Christians?...a land stolen by force and with great loss of life.

Australia Day is not a day of celebration to our indigenous people but a day of mourning. How is it not the same for the indigenous population of America? What have they got to celebrate, apart from being treated as second class citizens in their own land?

No Christian can celebrate genocide as if doesn’t matter to God.
Have you never looked at this from God’s standpoint? He fought for Israel because he had personally gifted their land to them.....He favours no nation on earth today....but he favours people of all nations who come to him and render acceptable, unhypocritical worship to him as the true God, just as Jesus did. (Acts 10:24-25)

Cause when the crackers got here from Europe the indians were slaughtering (murdering) each other all over the place so they were just as murderous as the European crackers that displaced them.

What are they celebrating really?

You're not here, so don't worry about it

Australia is turning communist so you should worry about your own country

Rom 10:14
How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

Now I am NOT saying that any of our politicians are preachers. We can agree on that RIGHT? RIGHT?

The majority of people in this country or the world for that matter have not actually heard the bible read aloud.
You go to a church and you hear snippets. Usually taken out of context. IF you go to church.

I don't know, I don't speak for God. But I don't see how reading God's Word to the world is a bad thing.
But then this world has totally deteriorated over the last decade, so I guess I'm not surprised anymore.

If Iran or another Arab country stood for a week and read aloud the Koran, the world would think,
How noble, how wonderful, they are providing a divine service for their people.

But if we read the Bible, it's blasphemy.

Well... This world is heading down a dark road. And I am glad that our Representatives are trying to shed some LIGHT on the matter.

How did Jesus ensure that the people of his day (his fellow Jews) heard the word of God? He sent his disciples out to the people, but he trained them first. He didn’t tell them to just read God’s word to them....the message was explained to them. They were preachers but also teachers. (Matt 28:19-20)

The Pharisees read God’s word in the Synagogue too, but it was their version of it. (Matt 15:7-9) He called them hypocrites because they failed to practice what they preached.
Now I am NOT saying that any of our politicians are preachers. We can agree on that RIGHT?
Since we are told to be “no part of the world” ruled by the devil, (John 18:36; 1 John 5:19) there can be no “Christian” politicians. We live in the world, but we are to have no say in its governance. Following the example of Jesus and his first century disciples, who were under Roman domination, Jesus never once told his people to resist the Roman rulers in any way, but to be law abiding citizens, so as not to create unnecessary conflict with those rulers....in spite of the fact that they were oppressing his people....and he had the power at his disposal to wipe them off the planet.

We are told to be “in subjection” to them....so we are, in a relative way. We obey them, but not when they tell us disobey our God. We have only one Sovereign, and he is allowing satan to have his way with the human race so as to separate those who love and serve God, rather than those trained to love and serve their nation through their politicians.

Patriotism and Christianity for many are viewed in the same way, and yet they are completely incompatible.
No Christian can have a foot in both camps....and we “cannot serve two masters” who both want our obedience. God never forces people to obey him, but simply explains the consequences of not doing so, giving them choices.
The majority of people in this country or the world for that matter have not actually heard the bible read aloud.
And in this day and age, there is no excuse for that. People don’t want to read the Bible and we can largely thank the education system for that. Who was it who introduced science as a replacement for the Creator?
Children have grown up with evolution taught to them at school for decades....generations of the godless who have no time for religion, which is a totally inept concept to those indoctrinated with materialism and greed and internal conflicts that pit Christians against Christians, for those who still go to church.

Where are the “peacemakers” that Jesus spoke about? (Matt 5:3-12) Jesus told us the traits of true Christians. No politicians who support war and their heinous weaponry, can rightly bear the name.
Peacemakers do not carry weapons...they carry the word of God, and can teach people about what it means to be a peacemaker, especially in these uncertain and troubled times.
I don't see how reading God's Word to the world is a bad thing.
But then this world has totally deteriorated over the last decade, so I guess I'm not surprised anymore.
It’s not about being a bad thing.....it’s about how it is presented...to whom....and who is actually profiting from this event. $500 dollars for a ticket?! Why was it not broadcast to all without cost and without restrictions? Realistically, who is going to listen to 7 days of just Bible reading?
This world is heading down a dark road. And I am glad that our Representatives are trying to shed some LIGHT on the matter.
That dark road is not travelled by Christ’s disciples...their hands are not bloodstained. (Isa 1:15)
They are at peace because Christ is with them as he promised. The narrow road is cramped because it has no space to wander off the path. No room to carry weapons or excess baggage. It’s the other road that has that facility. (Matt 7:13-14) Those who travel the wrong road are unaware of its destination.

Whose “representatives” are they really? Whoever puts those representatives in power has to be held accountable for what they do with the power they gave them.....whatever they do, God will hold them to account, and those who supported their agendas, along with them.

Being “no part of the world” means exactly that. You don’t have to support politics to be a productive member of the society you were born into. Being a Christian should make one a model citizen. Our taxes support the services we use....roads, schools, transport, hospitals etc, but we cannot support the bloodshed, the greed for power and resources that often cause those wars, and sacrifice the lives of those who cannot be replaced. Have they given their lives for anything noble? The propaganda will convince them, sadly.
But how does God see these things....? That is the question.

God Bless America!
Where will I find that in the Bible?
God doesn’t bless nations who go about in other countries killing wantonly with flimsy excuses....God blesses individuals who stand apart from the world, as those who want to do God’s will, rather than the will of any imperfect human government.

All governments are corrupt....there are none that serve God’s interests in this world that was handed over to the devil at the beginning. (Luke 4:5-7)....they serve only their own interests....not hesitant to take many innocent lives for their own selfish ends.

Please don’t believe the propaganda you see on the nightly news...it is designed to illicit your response there.....one based on emotion and patriotic sentiment, rather than on honest truth.

God blesses no one with blood on their hands or on their conscience...(Isa 1:15)...no matter how much they read the Bible....Unless they obey God through the teachings of his son, God does not even hear their futile prayers.

Jos 6:1
Now Jericho was straitly shut up because of the children of Israel: none went out, and none came in.
Jos 6:2
And the LORD said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valour.

Jos 6:16
And it came to pass at the seventh time, when the priests blew with the trumpets, Joshua said unto the people, Shout; for the LORD hath given you the city.

Jos 6:20
So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.
Jos 6:21
And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox, and sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword.

Jos 6:27
So the LORD was with Joshua; and his fame was noised throughout all the country.

Heb 11:32
And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:
Heb 11:33
Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,
Heb 11:34
Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
Heb 11:39
And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:
Heb 11:40
God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.

I believe God knows what he is doing.

I'd be for it, but I don't believe their motives are pure; they have a political agenda cloaked in the mantle of Christianity. Maybe someone will hear and truly repent, and if so, for that I'll be thankful; but many more will be tempted to fall in line with Christian nationalism. Patriotism is not required to be a Christian.
