You've said it perfectly Siddhi! Continue believing Jesus, for this shows your name is recorded in the book of life! Christians no longer need fear the second death (lake of fire) because our names are written in heaven and shall never be blotted out, because when you were born again the life you received through Christ is FOREVER!
never blotted out?
Jesus did speak about this, and the idea also appears in other parts of Scripture. The warning is real, and it calls us to remain faithful.
Here are the key verses:
1. Revelation 3:5 (ASV)
“He that overcometh shall thus be arrayed in white garments; and I will in no wise blot his name out of the book of life, and I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.”
This is Jesus speaking. He gives a promise, but also a warning.
He says the one who overcomes will not have their name removed. This means the opposite is possible for those who do not overcome.
2. Exodus 32:32–33 (ASV)
“…blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written. And Jehovah said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.”
Here we see the same idea long before. God removes the one who
continues in sin.
3. Revelation 22:19 (ASV)
“And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the tree of life, and out of the holy city…”
This again shows a person can lose their place if they turn away from the truth.
Jesus is showing that salvation is not just a one-time claim. It is a path we must walk.
To “overcome” means to stay faithful, to obey His words, and not turn back.
As Jesus said in
John 8:51:
“If a man keep my word, he shall never see death.”
God writes names in the book of life, but a person must remain in Him. If someone turns away, lives in sin, or rejects His word, their place is not guaranteed. and that is the truth of scripture.
If we stay with Him, listen to Him, and walk in His ways, our name will remain, and He will confess us before the Father.
