Matthew 25:1-12, because this parable is so rich and terrifying, Christians throughout history have debated the exact meaning of several specific symbols, while the core warning of readiness is absolutely clear, there are certain details that scholars and denominations still debate today. There is heavy debate over what the oil specifically represents, some interpreters believe the represents the Holy Spirit, pointing out that oil is often used as a symbol for the Spirit in the Old Testament. Others argue the oil represents a life of good works, suggesting that a lamp without oil is like faith without works, still others maintain that the oil simply represents genuine inward faith, in contrast to outward religious performance, the Bible does not explicitly define the oil in this parable, leaving room for strong interpretation.

There is debate over the exact identity of the 10 virgins, some traditions believe the virgins represent the general church throughout history waiting for the return of Jesus Christ. Other scholars, looking deeply at the context of the end times, argue that the virgins specifically represent Jewish believers during a future period of global tribulation. There is disagreement over the spiritual status of the foolish virgins, do they represent true Christians who fall away and lose their salvation or do they represent people who merely associated with the church, looked like Christians, but were never truly saved to begin with?

While these debates are important for deep theological study, Jesus does not pause the story to resolve them, he does not stop to give a detailed glossary of his symbols, he allows the mystery to remain, because the central thrust of his message is impossible to misunderstand, regardless of where you stand on the debated points, whether the oil is the Holy Spirit, works or faith, the fact remains that if you do not have it, the door will be shut. To fully grasp the magnitude of what Jesus is doing in this teaching, you must look at how he positions himself in the story, Jesus places himself at the very center of this parable as the bridegroom.

Jesus is the bridegroom, this is a massive, shocking claim to absolute divine authority, throughout the Old Testament, God himself was repeatedly called the husband of his people, the prophets spoke of the God of Israel as the ultimate bridegroom. Jesus is quietly taking that title for himself, he is declaring that he is the fulfillment of those ancient promises, he is telling his disciples that the ultimate eternal destiny of every single human being depends entirely on whether he recognizes them as his own when he returns, he is the judge, he is the door and he is the destination.

The oil represents the grace of the Holy Spirit. I admit I was interested in your post after hearing a lot about this phrase in conjunction concerning Seventh Day Adventism, and its unique perspective (which I am not a fan of to say the least).

Luke 15:20, the son came home prepared to negotiate for a position as a hired worker, the father restored him to full sonship before he could finish his first sentence. The son came with a contract, the father responded with a celebration. This is grace and grace is offensive, grace does not make sense, grace does not add up, grace looks at a pig stained, money wasting, father dishonoring failure and says, kill the fattened calf, not because the son deserves it, but because the father’s love is not measured by the son’s performance. And if that makes you uncomfortable, if something in you bristles at the idea that someone who messed up that badly could be welcomed home that easily, then you might have more in common with the older brother than you realize.

Those with a renewed paradigm inline with Jesus, instinctively understand these parables. Those whose paradigm insists on interpreting through the eyes of 'flesh', (though not acknowledged) inevitably engage endless words in vain attempts to get a handle on them.

Matthew 7:24-27, the world often tells you to build your foundation on things like your career, your bank account or your social status, but all of these things are exactly like sand. A sudden change in the economy can wash away your bank account, a sudden illness can wash away your career, a bad rumor can destroy your social status, if your entire life is built on these unstable things, you will fall apart when they disappear. Jesus invites you to build your identity and your security on his eternal truths, his love never changes, his promises never fail, when your inner peace is based on the fact that you are loved and saved by God, no earthly storm can destroy you. You might feel the wind blowing violently against you, you might get wet from the heavy rain, you might even feel scared for a moment, but because your foundation is securely anchored to the rock of Jesus Christ, your life will not collapse. You will have an inner fortitude that cannot be explained by human logic, building on the rock requires patience and hard work, it requires you to read the Bible and actually change your daily habits to match what it says. The reward is a life of incredible strength and unbending resilience.

Hello, Thank you for sharing.

Cause that is true when I was studying long ago, I stopped for awhile. At first it was easy cause i was reading every day and that helped a lot. When I stopped like I have now its been idk how long since i picked it up and read it and did chapters at a time reading outloud to myself. It helped the spiritual man - the new man in Christ in me a whole lot more than when I neglected it.

Not that I need it - exactly to remember - but it's the way everything becomes when it starts to feed your spirit as you feed on Jesus, and you learn about the spirit and what those men and women and children were all going through then in that day.

Picking up the bible to sit there and read it for an entire hour, just to read it... is nearly a mountain climb experience.

But the easier it gets as you do it a little more each time and dont give up and then if you keep going it gets more easy.

There is so much that you shared here that you know, most people wouldn't even understand it from just reading it once.

Those habits are good having a time to read the bible, and continue in faith, and build that spiritual person within you up is good and great thing all by the power of God working in and with you as you allow him to and you are moved by the spirit of Christ more into being more loving, forgiving all by the virtue of christ.

There is so much to think about just on just small parts or big parts or all parts of what Jesus says or even other letters man. It's so crazy, wild, and invigorating.

People are capable if they want to, you know.

Mark 5:1-14, here is a powerful and highly shocking story, illustrating the ultimate goal Jesus has for your mind, this man represents the extreme of a mind completely taken over by the enemy. While most people are not in that exact physical situation, many people today live in a very similar mental state, they constantly isolate themselves from the good people who love them, they choose to live among the dead things of their past, constantly replaying their old mistakes, their old failures and their regrets. And they deeply hurt themselves with the sharp stones of guilt, shame and dark self-hatred, the enemy loves to drive people out into the lonely tombs of their own minds.

Mark 5:15, the true sign of this man finding total spiritual freedom was that his mind was restored to complete sanity and peace, this is what Jesus wants to do for you today. The enemy has tried to hijack your thoughts for years, they have tried to make you believe that you are going crazy, that you are broken beyond repair and that you will always be a helpless slave to your deep anxiety, but Jesus has the ultimate power to restore you to your right mind. When the presence of Jesus enters your life, the chaotic voices of the enemy must pack up and leave immediately, you do not have to live under the weight of your past mistakes anymore, you can sit at the feet of Jesus, fully clothed in his righteousness with a calm, peaceful and perfectly right mind.
