Let me share another “stupid little boy” story with you @Armour of God.

“A pastor by the name of Florescu was tortured with red-hot iron pokers and with knives. He was beaten very badly. Then starving rats were driven into his cell through a large pipe. He could not sleep because he had to defend himself all the time. If he rested a moment, the rats would attack him.

He was forced to stand for two weeks, day and night. The Communists wished to compel him to betray his brethren, but he resisted steadfastly. Eventually, they brought his fourteen-year-old son to the prison and began to whip the boy in front of his father, saying that they would continue to beat him until the pastor said what they wished to know. The poor man was half mad. He bore it as long as he could, then he cried to his son, ‘Alexander, I must say what they want! I can’t bear your beating anymore!’ The son answered, ‘Father, don’t do me the injustice of having a traitor as a parent. Withstand! If they kill me, I will die with the words, ‘Jesus and my fatherland.’ The Communists, enraged, fell upon the child and beat him to death, with blood splattered over the walls of the cell. He died praising God. Our dear brother Florescu was never the same after seeing this.”

(Richard Wurmbrand, Tortured for Christ, pp. 34-35)

This has nothing directly to do with Vlad the Impaler and Muslims, but Vlad would have loved what the Communists did. The Muslims may have too. @Wrangler? Well, Vlad is his hero, and torturing / killing Christians wasn’t a problem for Vlad, nor is it for Wrangler. What about you?

This has everything to do with faithfulness. The “stupid little boy” refused to compromise, when compromising was held out as a way to save himself and his father. He fought back, unarmed, against armed men intent on obtaining what they wanted by violence.

Who won in this story?

The “stupid little boy” and his father. The torturers did all they could do, and in the end they didn’t obtain what they were after.

Wrangler put me on ignore months ago, imposter. *Wink. Wink. Nudge. Nudge. *

Everyone you’ve called a coward has turned out in truth to be brave. I know you won’t but you really should think about that.

Meet me on the dueling ground at sunrise. Come armed, ready to kill an unarmed Christian pastor.

At the end of the day you can't change history.

Islam invaded the Iberian peninsula.
And the Christians took it back and won.
Praise be to God.

No. You're not getting it.
David. I did X.
Wrangler. David said he did X.

Nowhere does the text suggest they did not, in fact, do the things listed. This is simple language usage. They did AND Jesus still did not know them. That's the point of the text. Consult a good study bible or concordance.
My point is that Jesus said to these people, "I never knew you." He doesn't say that to His true followers, whom He calls "sheep.":

(Joh 10:14 NKJV ) I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own.

The fact that they call Him "Lord" and say that they have prophesied, cast out demons, and done wonders, in the name of Jesus does not make them His sheep. We read in Scripture of many who did such things. The magicians in Egypt did some of the wonders that God did through Moses and Aaron. There were false prophets in the Old Testament, and false teachers in the New. We read of Jesus saying, in reply to those who said that He cast out demons by the price of demons:

(Luk 11:19 NKJV) And if I cast out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they will be your judges.

As for consulting commentaries and concordances, I have done so. Commentaries I have looked at include John Gill, Adam Clarke, Albert Barnes, Jamieson Fausset and Brown, and The Preacher's Homiletical Commentary. None of them say that those to whom Jesus said, "I never knew you," were true Christians. For example, Albert Barnes writes on Matthew 7:23:

"I never knew you - That is, I never approved of your conduct; never loved you; never regarded you as my friends. See Psa_1:6; 2Ti_2:19; 1Co_8:3. This proves that, with all their pretensions, they had never been true followers of Christ. Jesus will not then say to false prophets and false professors of religion that he had once known them and then rejected them; that they had been once Christians and then had fallen away; that they had been pardoned and then had apostatized but that he had never known them - they had never been true Christians. Whatever might have been their pretended joys, their raptures, their hopes, their self-confidence, their visions, their zeal, they had never been regarded by the Saviour as his true friends."

You are a stubborn man. They did perform miracles in his name, proving they were his sheep. However, that changed when they turned their back on our Lord. The same with Judas. Our Lord sent them out 2 x 2 to preach and perform miracles. That's not how Judas ended up on his own accord.

I certainly don't mean any stubbornness in my posts. You and I don't agree with each other on the matter of whether the people to who Jesus said, "I never knew you" were truly Christians, but that doesn't make either of us stubborn, surely? If you (or anybody else) could show from the Bible that a sinner whom Jesus had never known could be a Christian, I would believe it. I believe that it is important to notice the word "never." Jesus doesn't say that He knew them once, then they turned their backs on Him so He stopped knowing them. Also, there is nothing in Matthew 7:21-23 to indicate that the people Jesus as speaking about were amongst the twelve or the seventy disciples who Jesus sent out two by two.

Two examples have already been provided. Make a blessed day.
Sorry, I must have missed the examples of people who were never known by Christ having been true Christians. Have a blessed day yourself.

What an anti-truth. You’re the one claiming the Bible - the most violent book ever written - is a testament to pacifism.

I haven’t made that claim.

Would you be pleased if I address you as “Wrangler the Impaler”?

"I have suffered many times from severe sickness and frightful mental depression seeking almost to despair" - Charles Spurgeon

I am sorry... I have no interest in reading into the works of a frightfully depressed man. Fearing especially that I would turn out like the guy!

“I have often, in times of frightful depression of spirit, reached down my Bible, and within minutes been able to leap for joy of soul.” - C.H. Spurgeon

Don’t be afraid. Spurgeon won’t harm you.

I want to invite you to reconsider reading him. Read him thoughtfully and critically, just as you would any other author.
