Mancunian, I respect that you're still here having this conversation. Your original post was honest. You tried to pray, you asked for a sign, and nothing felt like an answer. That's a real question and it deserves better than jokes about ark logistics. I'll be straight with you: the mocking on both sides isn't going to convince anybody of anything. If you ever want to talk about what you actually experienced instead of defending a position, I'm in.

Noah had over 100 years to build the ark...do you think Noah and his family built it alone or do you think Noah had help from the population around him? Noah may have contracted out the pitch making guy...who cover the ark inside and outside with the watertight pitch. Do you think they used one coat of pitch or two coats to get the job done?

Sure, why not? I'll grant ya they didn't have Australian Airlines back then...but I bet some of the marsupials hopped their way to Australia...one jump at a time.

Is that all they eat?

I would imagine like you apparently do....all the sea water was mixed evenly....and salt water can't stratify in the oceans like it does today.

Bad news if you're a rat...right? All the snakes, foxes, cats and other animals simply walked away from...or if your a snake slithered away from...such a tasty meal.
Over a hundred years eh? How on earth do you square the ridiculously long lives of biblical characters with reality?
900 year old people, we know that's not remotely possible.

Giant pandas eat up to 50 pounds (23 to 38 kg) of bamboo daily, which makes up 99% of their total diet. Koalas survive on a specialized diet consisting almost entirely of toxic, fibrous, and low-nutrition eucalyptus leaves.

Full grown giant pandas?

Go to Ark Encounter. It shows you how it was done. Why couldn’t evolution happen after the flood AND at a much faster rate than theists suppose? A couple of juveniles od every kind giving rise to the diversity we see today? Unbelief.

It was a reply to crowcross... He asked about what Pandas and Koalas eat.

Evolution takes a long time because it relies on tiny, random genetic changes that must slowly spread through a population across many generations.

Key Reasons for a Slow Pace
• Generation Time: Genetic changes can only pass to offspring during reproduction. Animals with long lifespans, like humans or elephants, take years or decades to have babies, meaning changes take thousands of years to show up.

• Gradual Accumulation: Complex physical traits do not appear overnight from a single mutation. They require many small, useful changes to build up step-by-step over long periods.

@Mancunian,

What were some of the most memorable spiritual moments in your life? For me, it was:

8. Hearing classical music before sunrise while doing dishes. It literally brought me to one knee. It was as though I had been deaf since the beginning of time when suddenly, I heard the very heart of God and it was more than I could stand.
7. Delivering eulogies for my college buddy, and my grandfather and 51 weeks later, my grandmother.*
6. Skiing fast down a mountain, knowing I was at my physical peak. (I was strong and flexible enough to sit on my skis and stand up).
5. Being in love for the first time/Realizing someone not related knew me and loved me.
4. Seeing my twin daughter be born.
3. Looking at my twin son for the first time.**
2. Skydiving at sunset. (I felt alone with God during the descent, taking in the majesty of his creation, this day that he had made, seemingly for me)
1. Being sealed by the Holy Spirit. Being trusted with prophecy (or warning).

* Despite being 1 of 6 grandchildren, everyone wanted me to give the eulogy for our grandmother. (I’ve given too many eulogies).

** Because the umbilical cord was wrapped around my daughter’s throat, there was scary commotion and concern for her life. So, I didn’t see my son born 4 minutes later.

I wouldn't call my experiences spiritual but certainly memorable.

I lived in Spain for a couple of years, the village that I lived in was next to a mountain range. I decided to take my motorcycle to the top of one of the accessible peaks. I remember just sitting there marveling at the beauty of nature.

The death of my father.
I remember him asking me shortly before he died if I thought that he'd been a good dad, I don't know why he needed to ask because he was a great father... I think about him every day

Meeting my wife. Some of my happiest memories are from that time, it was 1990 when we first started dating, we travelled together and planned a family and our future together... We are still going strong all these years later.

The loss of my sister. I'm the youngest of eight children and my sister Lynn was the closest in age to me, we were very close. She went out to work one day and didn't come home.
She died while at work unexpectedly. Nobody had a chance to tell her how much she was loved.

The birth of my children.
I have four wonderful children, each of their births hold special memories for me, I've loved everything about being their father, from the early years up until them becoming adults.

I'm not a spiritual person, but I can agree that experiences and the memories of those experiences can shape you as a person....

I love to get out in nature, I love my gardening and walking. I visit the North Wales coast frequently and love the scenic beauty of it. I feel lucky to have had a good life and often think about people who are much less fortunate.

I intend to see more, and make more memories before my time on this earth is over.

I've noticed you really don't answer replies that show the feasibility of how Noah may have gotten around the issues you have presented. Should I take that as you saying what I have present makes a good point?

But, to address the over 900 year old people....you need to go back to the beginning...day 6. When Adam and Eve were made their genetics...DNA...was perfect. Every system and function of their body worked perfectly. No disease, tumors birth defects for their children....simply perfect human beings. As you very well know that's not the way it is today.
......should I continue or are you getting the point?

I was raised as a Christian and attended Church of England schools, I was a regular at Sunday school in my youth and enjoyed being a part of that.

My journey into none belief started when I stopped listening to what I was told, and read the Bible from front to back.
The old testament is very unpleasant in parts and it got me thinking about God's morality....
The new testament although less offensive still rang alarm bells, I found it to be contradictory.
I struggled with the concept of sacrifice being the only way that God could forgive.

Talking to (some) Christians makes my none belief stronger.

My thoughts on the video...
Although I have to admit that laws of mathematics are definitely not man made, it doesn't lead me to automatically think that the God of Christianity is responsible for them.

I think that I've already said on this forum that there could well be a creative force that is/was responsible for them, that's fine by me...
The problem's arise when people give the creative force or God or whatever you want to call it a personality. They claim to know God and his/her/it's likes and dislikes, it's plans for us etc.

Outside of the Bible I find no evidence for the Christian God and that's concerning considering he supposedly wants a relationship with me.
The world around us is incredibly complex. The idea that it "evolved" IMO is nonsense.

Giant Pandas...eat other types of vegetation, grasses, fruit, and bulbs. You can look that up and verify it if you like. From what I read pandas will occasionally scavenge carrion or hunt small rodents like pikas. You can even look that up.
Do you know that in zoos and sanctuaries, pandas have been known to gladly accept meat? They are also fed specially formulated nutrient biscuits, sugarcane, apples, bananas, and sweet potatoes.

The question becomes...did Pandas only eat bamboo on the ark?

Now the koala....

Koalas....like the Pandas the Koalas have many similarities with their diet....that is they don't only eat eucalyptus leaves just as Pandas don't only eat bamboo. The Koalas have been know to eat the following leaves from these trees...(I got these from the internet...it's easy to find.)
  • Melaleuca (Paperbark trees)
  • Acacia (Wattle trees)
  • Leptospermum (Tea trees)
  • Lophostemon (Brush box trees)
The question becomes...did koalas only eat eucalyptus leaves on the ark?

In addition to those thoughts above...
There is also no reason to assume that the pandas and koalas of the pre-flood time would have not been herbivores or omnivores capable of eating standard food brought on board the Ark such as hay, grains, dried fruits, or roots. Then after departing from the ark the panda and koala speciated from their original ancestral kind and developed their hyperspecific, restrictive modern diets.

Then again you being the expert..know the panda and koala ONLY eat bamboo and eucalyptus leaves. Period. That's your argument in a nut shell.

Great!!! Nice theory....perhaps you can explain how an assembly line of organelle can evolve over your step-by-step long periods of time that have the ability to produce other organelle that have a purpose to fulfill in a cell.

Your problem is you have a coloring book vision of what evolution is...step-by-step over long periods. You can't explain how evolutions so-called "step-by-step over long periods" can change a fish fin into a leg then back into a sea worthy dolphin flipper.....you can present your coloring book pictures...but that's about it.

Hmmm. IMO, this is more profound than debating past miracles, like how old people lived. Thank you for answering.

The discussion has to be 2D, missing a key dimension. To make a crude comparison, a friend recently said his 1st wife was not orgasmic. Although she didn't deprive him, she derived no satisfaction from the experience. It's very sad and there's nothing to be done about it. This reminds me of the line from Braveheart that all men die but not all men live.

I'm not a spiritual person, but I can agree that experiences and the memories of those experiences can shape you as a person....

Seems this reveals you were not given the gift of faith, that spiritual connection that transcends thought and experience. :confused

I intend to see more, and make more memories before my time on this earth is over.

Amen to that, brother! :D

So where would you like to start?

Hello,

Ive not read past the first page of this Thread, so, if anyone has asked you this previously, then thats good, and if not, i have a question for you.

The word of God says that "All have sinned" and that "Jesus came into the world to save Sinners".

So, @Mancunian .........could you tell us how you feel those 2 verses specifically apply to you?

Complexity of organisms on this planet came with time. The world is very different now from when the first single celled organisms appeared.
A simple syllogism of Logic
1)Complex systems require intelligent design
2)Life is a complex system
3)ergo...Life requires intelligent design

I'm not saying that it didn't. In fact I think that there was a creative power. I've said that all along.
