Revelation 4:3: And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: It seems pretty clear that Sardine (sardius): greek sardion, Hebrew odem: red, blood red: = RubyBut there seems to be debate over "Jasper"Hebrew: yashpheh, meaning glittering.The description is not what is called the opaque stone “jasper” (click) today, but Diamond:-The New Jerusalem:“Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal; . . . And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass.” (Rev.21:11, 18)Sardius is the first stone in the Highpriest's breastplate (representing Reuben?)however, "diamond" is listed 6th (Naphtali) and "Jasper" 12th (Benjamin, "son of my right hand", i.e. strength):-"And the second row shall be an emerald, a sapphire, and a diamond (yahalom, meaning hardness).And the third row a ligure, an agate, and an amethyst.And the fourth row a beryl, and an onyx, and a jasper: they shall be set in gold in their inclosings.And the stones shall be with the names of the children of Israel, twelve, according to their names, like the engravings of a signet; every one with his name shall they be according to the twelve tribes." (Ex 28:18-21)Does anyone know if "Jasper" in Revelation is diamond or not?
