Years back when I first recd. our Lord, I was delivering newspapers to stores & paper racks. (not home delivery) I have always loved rainbows and no matter how old I get I still get very excited. In route when one would show up I would get people to come out and see it if they could. I have asked the people what they think of rainbows... to my shock, the answer that came back to me wasn't what I expected. It would just floor me emotionally. it would take the wind out of my sail's & pop my balloon. There are many who didn't know that the word rainbow was in the Bible. :faint:So now when our Lord gives me the opportunity, I like share things from my heart. Here is some: The word Rainbow is in the Bible at least 3 times.
Eze 1:28 As the appearance of the rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so {was} the appearance of the surrounding radiance. Such {was} the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw {it,} I fell on my face and heard a voice speaking.Re 4:3 And He who was sitting was like a jasper stone and a sardius in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, like an emerald in appearance.Re 10:1 I saw another strong angel coming down out of heaven, clothed with a cloud; and the rainbow was upon his head, and his face was like the sun, and his feet like pillars of fire;
So please remember:~ God's Rainbow ~Rainbows appear after mighty storms, When things look their very worst, Just when the skies are darkest gray, Look for the Rainbow first.The Rainbow is a sign of God's promise,That He will guide us through any storm,That He will see us through all our troubles,No matter what their form.When you feel battered by life's storms,And you are filled with doubt and dismay;Just remember God's Rainbow is coming —It's only a prayer away.

I think the first time the word rainbow appeared is onGenesis 9:13 - I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.Genesis 9:14 - And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:Genesis 9:16 - And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.Wow, that's three times the word rainbow is in Genesis 9.

I knew about the one's in Genesis, I just wondered what types of replies I would receive... Because that's the first & greatest "PROMISE". :angel3: I like the Amplified best...
13* I set My bow [rainbow] in the cloud, and it shall be a token or sign of a covenant or solemn pledge between Me and the earth. 14 *And it shall be that when I bring clouds over the earth and the bow [rainbow] is seen in the clouds, 15* I will [earnestly] remember My covenant or solemn pledge which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters will no more become a flood to destroy and make all flesh corrupt. 16 *When the bow [rainbow] is in the clouds and I look upon it, I will [earnestly] remember the everlasting covenant or pledge between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth. 17* And God said to Noah, This [rainbow] is the token or sign of the covenant or solemn pledge which I have established between Me and all flesh upon the earth.
wow, you left out #17. :study: How about that, we have 7 verses now. :smiley:I was just wondering how many people here would jump in & say what the Rainbow means to them...

To me, rainbows used to simply be a pretty pattern in the sky as a result of the laws of physics causing refraction of sunlight to split into it's various wavelengths.Now, as a Christian, I realise that God created those laws of physics and we have simply discovered another of God's creations and begun to understand things in a new light (pun intended).Rainbows are a reminder to me of the awesome power and glory of almighty God and His promise to us to never destroy the earth again with a flood.
Gen 9:8 Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him: Gen 9:9 "I now establish my covenant with you and with your descendants after you Gen 9:10 and with every living creature that was with you--the birds, the livestock and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ark with you--every living creature on earth. Gen 9:11 I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be cut off by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth." Gen 9:12 And God said, "This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: Gen 9:13 I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Gen 9:14 Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, Gen 9:15 I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. Gen 9:16 Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth." Gen 9:17 So God said to Noah, "This is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all life on the earth."

It's an apt metaphor. Without rain the skies would be forever pleasant- but they'd never know the beauty of a rainbow, and the land below would wither and die.

As a little child... I Love His Rainbows and His masterpieces. It's like a gift to me. He likes to surprise us... and I'll be open to them. This year He has been showing me about the "open Heavens" the study is slow but exciting.AND THE VERY BEST IS HE HAS BEEN SHARING WITH ME ABOUT THE MANY BRILLIANT COLORS IN HEAVEN... IT'S EVEN MORE BEAUTIFUL THERE THEN WE SEE HERE ON EARTH.

I LOVE RAINBOWS TOO! I may be 26 but I still love them. I will always love them. What makes me upset is when people use the rainbow for gay pride. That is so distorting one of God's miracles and promises.I believe and KNOW the rainbow signifies God's promise to us. How wonderful is that?!

Yea, I agree w/ you. Genesis 9 all the way.

So I'm upset, but the first time I read about that, not exactly upset... Well as Satan always pervert God's Words, works and promises, well it "can" mean that way for homosexuality, but who true Christians take those words over men?

Rainbows to me remind me of my grandma, because during her funeral service a rainbow appeared. But technically Rainbows are seen when raindrops, falling in the distance, bend and bounce sunlight back towards your eye.Raindrops reflect sunlight, like a mirror. However raindrops also bend, or refract, light, like a lens. The reflection is spread into a cone of light. The edge of this cone is bright, because sunlight is concentrated at this angle (called the rainbow angle).Each colour of sunlight is bent and bounced in a slightly different direction. The colors separate around the bright edge of the reflection.The collection of raindrops that send the same bright color towards your eye is curved. The centre of the curve is the shadow of your head (called the anti-solar point). The rainbow always appears at the same distance from this central point, at the rainbow angle.
