I’m in a strange place: very conservative, but not Christian

I honestly don’t see any compatibility with Christianity and conservatism. Christianity revolves around diminishing your individuality and being saved by someone else. Conservatism values the individual, and pulling yourself up by your bootstraps. I don’t need any government or god to save me...

I agree. It’s no longer about learning how to think, but what to think. Getting an education is now indoctrination. heated exchange b/w senator & liberal professor

I’m in a strange place: very conservative, but not Christian

When you said God takes care of its creatures and it’s a part of tending the garden regarding pests…are you suggesting that we are god? Because it is us who would hire a pest control company or fumigate a room or put poison out.

I’m in a strange place: very conservative, but not Christian

It’s amazing, yes. What about all the cockroaches and rats though? Rationally speaking, are humans not biased when they say that a flower is beautiful but a rat is a disgusting pest which has to go? I have heard Christians before say that everything else that’s not what they like…is punishment...

I’m in a strange place: very conservative, but not Christian

I did not say there are no conspiracies. I said not all conspiracies are true. Just because other conspiracies came true before, it is not evidence that all other conspiracies will come true as well. That’s a logical fallacy. Those who dismiss all media as lies, and those who take everything...

I’m in a strange place: very conservative, but not Christian

I would not doubt what you said…however conspiracy theories are rampant among the right wing. Another problem I have with other conservatives because people will run with whatever conspiracy theory they can to justify their irrational fears. Evidence of previous conspiracies coming true is not...

I’m in a strange place: very conservative, but not Christian

Just because I’m not given a choice doesn’t mean that I still can’t be against it. North Korean citizens don’t have a choice but…they gotta do what they gotta do. Not because they worship Kim Jong, but because they care about their family. I don’t think there is a choice in Christianity either...

I’m in a strange place: very conservative, but not Christian

I just don’t like the idea of worshipping anyone or anything. If you’re against big government, then it also makes sense to be against an authoritative deity and vice versa. Atheism is much more complimentary with conservatism than Christianity is. Christianity revolves around someone ELSE...

I’m in a strange place: very conservative, but not Christian

I’m not saying Christianity is a lie. You are asking me to be an anti-theist here, which I am not. I cannot prove that Christianity is a lie or any religion for that matter. But, claims of there being a creator are also just as unsubstantiated as someone claiming there is absolutely no god. This...

I’m in a strange place: very conservative, but not Christian

Understood, it’s been rather enjoyable talking to people here. I do want to add that much of it has been derailed concerning the very existence of god. Not a whole lot has been said regarding politics. In my eyes, Christianity belongs mostly on the left. I have debated with enough right wing...

I’m in a strange place: very conservative, but not Christian

The wife you’re talking about that Cain found is Awan. His own sister. She’s not mentioned in the Bible, but the Book of Jubilees..according to Abrahamic traditions. Now, whether you dismiss anything that’s not in the Bible is fine. This stuff can be debated to death. To me it’s not all that...

I’m in a strange place: very conservative, but not Christian

Adam & Eve even though they were the first ones souled, they did get evicted from the Garden of Eden so technically they were the first humans outside of the Garden. It still doesn’t rule out the fact that the only way the population increased initially was through incest. It doesn’t matter how...

I’m in a strange place: very conservative, but not Christian

What I’m getting at is that since Adam & Eve were the first parents and they had 3 sons and some daughters (the daughters aren’t named in the Bible)…then the only way Adam & Eve became grandparents was through incest. Either Eve slept with one of her sons or their sons slept with one of their...

I’m in a strange place: very conservative, but not Christian

Exponential growth, lower death rates, and an increase in average age…a lot of it is due to advancements in science, medicine. But what’s your answer for my original question? Starting with the family of Adam & Eve (parents+siblings only)…how did the population grow to where we’re at today...

I’m in a strange place: very conservative, but not Christian

You very briefly mentioned Adam. According to the Bible, Adam and Eve were the first two people. They had 3 sons, some daughters. We are now sitting at almost 8 billion people. Since Adam and Eve along with their kids are the first family, how did we get from them to almost 8 billion people today?

And when the IRS comes knocking on the church door with you inside, asking for you, you can be sure they’ll point and say, “He’s over there.” The very church that warns you about the sinners and tax collectors is the same church who will have sold you out to them. And now you have nothing to...

I’m in a strange place: very conservative, but not Christian

Let me ask you this one question. You quoted Genesis where it talks about the sequence of God’s creation. God created the sun on the 4th day. How did 4 days pass if he created the sun on the 4th day?

I’m in a strange place: very conservative, but not Christian

The Big Bang and dark matter are both considered ‘theories’ within the scientific community. It is not filling the gap because as soon as future advancements show otherwise…those theories are then thrown out. This happens all the time which is why science is ever changing, ever evolving...

I’m in a strange place: very conservative, but not Christian

Scientists don’t automatically fill in a gap like religion does. They come up with a hypothesis and conduct an experiment. Can you conduct an experiment on God? They follow the scientific method which is diametrically opposite of faith. You said, “For someone who is asking for eviednce that...

I’m in a strange place: very conservative, but not Christian

And yet somehow your religious institution is immune to taxation but you aren’t. Your church should grant you immunity from taxation since you follow their faith…or they should pay taxes themselves instead. Why won’t they extend their immunity to taxation over to you since you’re a devotee?
