    The Doctrines of Grace

wow. OK. Difficult to refute something that is not there. That's pretty funny Bread. That's all I'll say. This is true. I have to agree that this is right. Right. THE DAY. THE DAY OF JUDGMENT. JUDGMENT. HEAVEN OR HELL. Bread....I just won't do it. Because you just like to argue. Read it...

You could believe that Bob. No problem. I do like, however, post no. 115 by @ElieG12

Women were not allowed to speak in the synagogue. Do you think a cultural shift could happen overnight? In the US it seems to have but because most were sick and tired of the nonsense going on. The Jews were not sick and tired of anything....they knew their religion and accepted it. What Jesus...

Well, I don't know that God is QUOTED. The OT is inspired. I don't believe God sat at a computer and typed out what He wants us to know DIRECTLY from Him.

I THINK I know what you're saying. IOW,,,you believe Jesus' words carry more weight than Paul's or any of the other writers. I'll have to agree. But don't you believe that they're saying the same? Some even go so far as to pit Jesus against Paul stating that their teachings are different. Now...

What has he done Bob? How could we know His rules?

    Looking realistically at ourselves.

I agree that we learn from God Himself. I'll go so far as to say that until the Holy Spirit does not tell us to stop doing something or start doing something... it will not happen. We must hear from God if we are to obey Him. But we still need God's written word. What if we hear that we're...

Bob, the above is not for me, but let me ask you this: WHERE do you look for YOUR authority? WHAT has the authority that we are to seek, in your opinion?
  9. GodsGrace

    Looking realistically at ourselves.

Yes....it sure does look like we're going to be left with only the Church = The Body of Christ.....us. Those who worship in spirit and in truth. Those who read without preconceived ideas and are able to learn the simple truth of scripture... even those parts of it that we may not like. Jesus...

    The Doctrines of Grace

Ok Bread. Here's how it's taught in the CC Church = Body of Christ church = Brick and Mortar I'm afraid THE as you put it will not do. Because I could use THE in both cases: I'm going to the church down the block. Could you teach me about the Church? It's the capitalized C that makes...

JOHN 3:16 IS THIS OUR GOSPEL?

Sounds like you don't obey Jesus. Sounds like you can't post scripture. Good night.

    The Doctrines of Grace

The church is ALSO brick and mortar. What do YOU mean by visible entity? I used to teach (and may go back to ) kids that there are 2 churches.... one is invisible...The Communion of Saints and one is visible... I'd hit on the wall to make them remember. 5th to 7th graders. The 7th graders were...

JOHN 3:16 IS THIS OUR GOSPEL?

You're a nice person Jack. I like nice people. Luckily, these nice people are few and far between. So you think those that do not read the bible are going to hell? Where is that in scripture please? So you think it's THE BIBLE that saves a person... not FAITH. Where is that in scripture...

I like them the same. It's just that some of them sound mainstream. Calvinism is not mainstream and I don't agree with it at all. So sometimes it seems to creep in and sometimes I'm not sure what you're saying. I just try to be honest with my posts and I try not to attack anyone... Hope it...

    Looking realistically at ourselves.

I do believe that in that instance Jesus meant that actual households would be split up between believers and unbelievers. Can a house of faith be split up? Yes! How many churches have a splinter group that didn't like something that was being taught (or they believed it was wrong) so they left...

    Looking realistically at ourselves.

Agreed. Every denomination has some doctrine that doesn't seem to sit well with scripture. But I also don't think we could expect perfection on this side.... this is why so many don't "find a church they like" because one that they'll agree with 100% just doesn't exist. You're very good at...

    Looking realistically at ourselves.

Complicated topic here HY. The early church was a good church...it changed over time and added to what the Early Christians believed. As to apologizing to Luther....this will never happen. Why? Because SOLA FIDE is not a correct doctrine. Sola fide teaches that ALL we need for salvation is...

I think he stated that some persons prefer Paul over Jesus. I do find this to be true. I was replying to this statement. Jesus always comes first. (although there should be no conflict).
