Why do some people not like the idea of OSAS?

IF all the scriptures we have read do not agree with each other, then we don't understand. We cannot rest on our laurels thinking that we cannot displease God and have our names blotted out of the Lamb's Book of Life and think we have a guarantee under the New Covenant without understanding that...

Why do some people not like the idea of OSAS?

I don't think your response addresses my position at all. I suppose that somehow, people like Bart Ehrman and Charles Templeton were not sheep? They were never justified before they "jumped ship?" Yet, there are many here believe in the trinity though that term is not found in scripture either.

    Did Jesus Break The Sabbath

I find this interesting. Maybe I can help raise interest here as well. Most people think that Jesus was under the Old Covenant. Was he? In the Old Testament we find: Is 42:5–7. Thus says Yahweh God, who created the heavens and stretched them out, who spread out the earth and what comes from...

Well, then, that concludes our conversation. May God bless you in your studies.

CALVINISM: The height of Spiritual depravity

I think we just left the main road and went off on a tangent. As to your questions, neither Moses nor David were in the New Covenant. Moses did kill and Egyptian and David did set up a man for death. This was during a time where they can repent and offer sacrifices to cover their sins. I can't...

Why do some people not like the idea of OSAS?

Oh, how I wish my conversations were face-to-face so I am be sure of the question. See, I thought I had already answered this, but I apparently did not. When you were called by God to see His Son, that results in your faith. I suppose you could call that a "manifestation of the Spirit." We are...

Why do some people not like the idea of OSAS?

Thank you for your response, brother. However, I still don't see an answer explaining why we have a multitude of verses warning up to endure to the end and to be obedient if we love Christ Jesus. Am I to infer that you think that no conscious effort from us is required? I think Paul had to...

CALVINISM: The height of Spiritual depravity

"Michael Servetus to some is a hero, a martyr, while to others he is a heretic. The trial of Servetus is frequently used by those who dislike Calvinism or Calvin to discredit him, while at the same time Calvin’s supporters often tend to downplay this event." "While many of John Calvins...

Why do some people not like the idea of OSAS?

OK, some translations say will forgive, others say might forgive. Either way, it supports "work out our salvation with fear and trembling." I see from that the given warnings to walk in the spirit and endure to the end is still applicable. Is there something I am missing?

SALVATION: BY GRACE OR BY WORKS? A FALSE DICHOTOMY

Yes, and it takes some examination of the details. 1 Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. This is of the same tense as: 1 Co 15:1–2 Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to...

Why do some people not like the idea of OSAS?

Ya know, the Pharisees were sure that they had the truth as well. They did not like having Jesus walk around telling them that their truth was no longer in effect.

SALVATION: BY GRACE OR BY WORKS? A FALSE DICHOTOMY

I enjoy your exuberance in this. While I know that a great many believe that they are already "born again." There are many passages that tell us that Jesus will come a collect us to go to the Kingdom of God (which will be the New Earth eventually). That incorruptible body will be our actual...

Why do some people not like the idea of OSAS?

I guess you have missed this: 1 Jn 1:8–10 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word...

CALVINISM: The height of Spiritual depravity

Ya know, the Apostle Paul claimed that he had to watch himself and not make himself unacceptable to preach Christ to the Gentiles. I would hope that everyone who preaches Christ that this same standard should exist for them as well. I have no regard of John Calvin. He did things that make his...

SALVATION: BY GRACE OR BY WORKS? A FALSE DICHOTOMY

I am way late into this thread, so please excuse my interruption. I want to comment on this post. It is certainly true that God can call us to believe in His Son however He wants to do it. We do not have to read a bible to believe in Jesus. We do have to learn about Him and it happened to...

Is the Logos meaningful, or meaningless? - Depends on your view of Logos.

I think reading more of this chapter in John 8 is necessary for understanding. Taking one verse and establishing truth leads to mistakes. The He in that verse refers back to: Jn 8:18 I am the one who bears witness about myself, and the Father who sent me bears witness about me. It is not a...

Why do some people not like the idea of OSAS?

Short answer - WE can separate ourselves from our everlasting security. Nobody else can do it. God's love for us is everlasting, but His judgement is everlasting as well - even though He loves us. We can fail to choose to obey God and go the way of man.

Is the Logos meaningful, or meaningless? - Depends on your view of Logos.

Perhaps I can simplify this. First, there is a huge difference between "evaluate" and "judge." What seems to be is what humans do. Judge is what God does. If I evaluate that a person does not believe what I believe, I can only claim that it appears that way to me. I CANNOT determine what that...

Which denomination do I belong to?

Mt 15:7–9 You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, when he said: ‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me; in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ Absolutely true. I have experienced the reaction of others whom I call...

Why do some people not like the idea of OSAS?

Actually, I believe what God has said in the bible. We cannot cherry-pick verses and create a doctrine - at least we are not supposed to. If you think I am wrong, please show me how the bible shows my references to be incorrect.
