Independence Day eve: History)The Founders Meant to Keep Government Out of the Church, Not God Out of the Government

Try explaining that one day to all those founding fathers whose grandparents and fathers and mothers and uncles and aunties and siblings died as martyrs throughout the dark ages because the church thought it a great idea to include God in the government.

    Concerned about cancer...

No advantage at all oforChristians to disobey the most basic of health principles as revealed in scripture. Eating poisonous shellfish on a regular basis will not protect Christians from the long term natural effects of mercury and arsenic and lead that pervades our oceans and is cleaned up by...

    The appointed time is fulfilled

The key being, when was Messiah anointed. There's nothing in the prophecy that hints at. Messiahs ministry, it just says, "until Messiah the Prince". You are correct, the command from Artexerxes was in 457AD, and remembering that there is no year 0, the count of 483 years takes us to 27ad...

    Difficulty Reconciling

Heading in the right direction. Yet it never ceases to shame me as it continues to uncover the depths of depravity the human heart is capable of. The measure is indeed the law, and Jesus said the law is an expression of love. So perhaps we need to take careful note of the following, if we...

    Difficulty Reconciling

"Abide in Me and I in you... without Me ye can do nothing... but in Christ ye can do all things." A favourite lie of the devil is "you cannot overcome sin.". That is repeated ad nauseum on these forums from people who do not have faith.

Revelation 2:10 ....and you will have tribulation 10 days...

It's prophecy. If we cannot understand prophecy from history, and make the appropriate harmonising comparisons, then what do you have to prove prophecy is reliable? You are correct that there is nothing in the text that specifically denotes a particularly nasty persecution, yet that time...

    Difficulty Reconciling

Our relationship with Jesus may not be affected by our behaviour, but it is certainly affected by our faith. If we believe or behaviour ism forgivable, then our faith or belief is askew. If we sin, and don't confess, believing we won't be forgiven, or that God had ceased t to love us, then...

Revelation 2:10 ....and you will have tribulation 10 days...

Well, I suppose if you are so adamant I am wrong, then you will have greater evidence than I that there were ten literal days that the Smyna Church suffered a particularly nasty persecution right? And of course you will have it ready to publish that all may see your evidence?

Revelation 2:10 ....and you will have tribulation 10 days...

It is prophetic time. Based on a day for a year principle, “After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise. ” Numbers 14:34 KJV...

Define salvation. ( what is "the Gospel")

I'm sorry that I answered the question so well it put an end to all discussion.

Does the Bible contradict itself? - Reader Poll (and discussion)

What are you saying here? That Jesus changed His mind? That at one time He wasn't going to abolish it, but did so anyway by fulfilling it? Of so, please explain how fulfilling is a definition of abolishing. While you are at it, maybe explain why Jesus would abolish the sabbath just a short time...

Types of Christians….what type are you?

What you said was true except for the part where you claimed I was saying something different.

What did Christ mean saying, God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

That is assumption based on wrong premises. Angels are spirits, yet they are not immortal, because scripture says the devil will be destroyed. So are human sinners. And you continue to conflate soul and spirit despite being referred to Genesis 2:7 which says unequivocally that man became a...

Types of Christians….what type are you?

If you knew the scriptures, you would know that was the opposite to what I am saying. I said those who were Christians in name only, don't know Christ. That is not a license to sin. Yet they do. And they end up weeping and gnashing teeth... until they die the second death. 21"Not everyone...

Types of Christians….what type are you?

I think there are 2 types of Christians. Only 2. Jesus spoke of only two. One type of Christian He didn't know. They were Christians in name only. The other type of Christian knew both He and the Father. To them was given eternal life. You see, your definitions above are based solely on...

What did Christ mean saying, God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

I think that only God is eternal because He is God. We aren't, either God or eternal. Except eternal life is given as a gift. Not because of what we are. But because of Who Jesus is, and what He had accomplished on our behalf.
