    The Thousand years

I'm not as decided on this as I think I once was. I've always interpreted 2 Peter 3:8 probably more to the literal side since it would make sense based upon a couple things. The first link was in Genesis 2:17 where God tells Adam don't eat of that tree, or he will die on the day that he eats...

    NeuBible App

Well, I would probably be defined as a Bible App-ophile. YouVersion (I guess now it's called the Bible App) has consistently been my favorite, although I find myself using Bible Gateway on desktop. I've still not really gone heavy on hi-lighting and virtual notes. I still prefer my pages...

    Computer re-build

Sage advice. I've always just ported what I need. With SS USB (and some of the even faster protocols now), even massive data takes no time to move. We did a local transfer in the same building, and we pushed ~150mb/sec across the network, and we don't use the most expensive stuff, either.

    The new FREAK attack complication

I'm not sure the adoption rate for IPv6 is very high based on what I see all of the time. Occam's Razor in IT and all of that.

    The Church of TED?

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/03/15/opinion/sunday/the-church-of-ted.html?_r=3 Discuss. ;) The parallels are a bit overt. I definitely sympathize with the author in that the talks themselves are quite evangelical in nature. That said, I'd say rather than likening the talks to an old-fashioned...

"Just Me and My Bible" = Narcissism?

http://www.patheos.com/blogs/imagochristi/2015/03/just-me-and-my-bible/ Obviously being a Baptist and running a Christian forum, I see this a lot. I've been guilty of this at times, as well. I tend to agree with the author that even though some maintain, no one reads the Bible without the input...

    The new FREAK attack complication

What happen when we can print life?

I think this commentary sums up the benefits; it would seem that the creation of very important and very expensive things may become affordable for the masses, but I think this carries some underlying assumptions with it. I am concerned about the period of inequality immediately after such a...

    Biblical literalism correlates with anti-science

Yay for oddballs! ;) Well, I neglected to replace this in my repost, but over the years I've looked at the different translations. I don't pretend to be any sort of scholar of Hebrew, Greek or any other language, but I do try and stand on the shoulders of much smarter giants to understand what...

    Biblical literalism correlates with anti-science

Annnnd, depending upon what your epistemology permits, this is either one heck of a coincidence, or one heck of a divine intervention. This article is why I love Patheos. (Well, perhaps that and the little detail that a family member is an Editor there...) And, it looks like cookies went awry...

    "What Scares the New Atheists"

And no, this was not written by a Christian. It was written by an atheist. There are a number of topics I'd love to discuss here, but read it for yourself first! Link: http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/mar/03/what-scares-the-new-atheists

    Pray for My Neighbor

Oh man that really breaks my heart to hear! I prayed for them immediately and will continue to pray for them!

    Biblical literalism correlates with anti-science

I'd love to see the definition of "taken literally." That phrase means a hundred different exegetical arguments to one hundred different people. Interesting, so you weren't aware of confirmation bias? I'm glad you were able to find so much from this ground-breaking study! Well done!

    Explain how God can exist

I'd take a glance in the mirror for logical fallacy. Speck meet log and all of that. A sociopath would exhibit characteristics beyond the foundation laid here. In fact, a sociopath would lack empathy. Thus, the very premise that I am addressing the person's capacity for empathy would preclude...

    Greetings!

Dan, welcome to the community, we even except truly green newbies. :D Growing in grace is a great place to be! I seem to manage to test it all the time, yet this sinner remains saved by God. Hope to see you around in the discussions here!

    Explain how God can exist

No my dear, it's called reductio ad absurdum. Tim Keller has actually quite successfully employed this at his NYC church, so if you'd prefer to stick to your uncharacteristically anecdotal insistence, then have at it because it obviously works for Redeemer. This is one of the paralyzing...

    $$$$ CRASH ??

A few observations: 1) How come "globalist" bankers only seem to live in the US? The term global would imply otherwise. There is a good bit of money in China, Russia, Dubai and elsewhere; the aristocracy is alive and well. Many of them having competing interests. Yes, they do pull bigger...

    Computer re-build

Nothing will ever speed Windows updates. :P SSD's are the much needed upgrade to the slowest bottleneck of any contemporary computer. You can upgrade processors, RAM and the rest all you want, but nothing beats SSD.

    Hi from a new guy

Guess I am a forum holdout myself JohnP! I miss many of the old forums I used to haunt which no longer exist, but I don't see this one going until they have a bigger and better internet that I can no longer ignore. ;) Forums were the original social media... Welcome to the community, hope to...

Why do the Repuclicans have such a hate on for universal healthcare in America?

Couple things. #1 and #2 actually are part of the same package. See the article above on Canada. Even though some of the European populations have growing immigrant populations, these immigrants are legal and not under the same stigma and level of accountability that illegal immigrants are...
