Choice of doctrine is driven by religious preconception - Spirituality is an individualized journey

You're right, amigo. I've found during my 82 years on the earth that people respond well when I make it clear that it's what I believe without expecting them to believe it, if they don't want to. That approach respects them as a fellow creation of God. I've also found that post-modern people...

Choice of doctrine is driven by religious preconception - Spirituality is an individualized journey

The people who say that sentence could find a church that is loving and accepting of them and a small group to care for them somewhere near them, I think. Often, it's just an excuse for not attending church or a cry for help because they've been hurt by religious people. Getting them to talk...

Kingdom Law verses Heavenly Grace (B)

I would like someone to explain to me exactly where in the Bible you get these ideas, Dan. Why are you certain that the 1,000 years are literally that long, when Revelation's numbers are very figurative standing for spiritual reality, not literal time? Where in the Bible do you find your last...

Kingdom Law verses Heavenly Grace (B)

Yes, he does if they trust in Jesus as the Messiah. Otherwise, they will be like the northern kingdom of Israel, who disappeared never to heard from again after being exiled to Assyria, very sadly!

What is YOUR "thorn in the flesh"?

You should warn people against your own heresy of just relying on the New Testament, especially Paul, for the truth, Behold. Can't you see what Paul himself said about the Old Testament in 2 Timothy 3:16-17?

Kingdom Law verses Heavenly Grace (B)

Do you ever have the sense that the prophecies about Israel might be fulfilled in the church as the "new Israel," since believers are all children of Abraham, according to Paul (Romans 4 and Galatians 3)?

What is YOUR "thorn in the flesh"?

No, addiction to nicotine is a serious disease. What is your addiction to? We are all afflicted with addiction to SELF, the self-centeredness of sin that we must wage battle with all of our life through Jesus' victory in dying to SELF and living for Jesus.

What is YOUR "thorn in the flesh"?

Your problem is, Behold, that you only have part of the Bible, Paul's letters, on which you base your beliefs. You castigate Calvinists for using the whole Bible. You might find out that you are wrong and Calvinists are right some day when you stand before God. What then?

What is YOUR "thorn in the flesh"?

Can you write one, just one, post without putting Calvinists down with your attacks and false accusations? Can you, Behold?

What is YOUR "thorn in the flesh"?

John Calvin was far from perfect as a child of his age, in which governments were far too closely aligned with the established churches. He had Servitus (sp?) killed because of that alignment of church and state and he thought he was a traitor. Very sad! Calvinists do not approve of Calvin's...

What is YOUR "thorn in the flesh"?

John Calvin would agree with your first statement, Behold. You misunderstand him and don't seem to want to learn about his writings. Sad! Of course, God doesn't send Satan anywhere to hurt people. The devil does all that on his own. However, because God rules the universe, he does limit the...

What is YOUR "thorn in the flesh"?

God the Father sent his Son, Jesus, to suffer and die to save us. Do you believe that truth, Dan? That's what we Calvinists have been saying that God allows suffering in his people that is caused by Satan and their own sinful natures to help them clean up their act and to grow in their faith...

What is YOUR "thorn in the flesh"?

God has taught me many different lessons through my physical pain; they aren't primarily chastisements. For example, he taught me that I'm weak and totally dependent on him through constant prayer. It's not punishment but encouragement in my walk following Jesus.

What is YOUR "thorn in the flesh"?

Yeah, God's peace has enabled me to accept pain in my life, emotionally; and I look forward to God's gift of bodily resurrection to complete his promises of final perfection.

What is YOUR "thorn in the flesh"?

    Very true verses!

What is YOUR "thorn in the flesh"?

A liberal Bible commentator whom I read on the Gospel of John said after he wrote his commentary, "John believed in the Trinity."

What is YOUR "thorn in the flesh"?

Behold, as a thorough-going Calvinist educated in a conservative Reformed seminary, I would never say that God causes pain and suffering. However, he does allow it to happen, as a good father for the good of his children, as they grow up. The causes are NOT divine. I wonder how much you agree...

What is YOUR "thorn in the flesh"?

All of the Scripture's promises of deliverance from pain and suffering God will fulfill with his great gifts of our resurrection bodies. All such deliverance in this life is temporary, except for his gift of the inner peace of Philippians 4:6-7, when we focus on Jesus. He heals us directly or...

Kingdom Law verses Heavenly Grace (B)

Why don't you take the teachings of those prophecies and apply them to Christians' new covenant instituted by Jesus in his Last Supper (Luke 22:20--And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.") as well as to Jesus'...

Kingdom Law verses Heavenly Grace (B)

If the Bible isn't direct on your eschatology, wouldn't it make sense to re-examine it to bring it more in line with the Bible alone?
