    Spiritual gifts: Unconfusing them

See my original post wherein it cites the specific scriptures which clearly indicate the miraculous manifestation of gifts were through the apostles hands.

    Spiritual gifts: Unconfusing them

This is supplemental to my recent response go you. You are not understanding the difference in receiving the gift (singular) of the Holy Ghost/Spirit as per Acts 2:38, which all baptized believers receive pursuant thereto, and the various miraculous gifts (plural) or manifestations of the Spirit...

    Spiritual gifts: Unconfusing them

That's the kjv which I happen to like and read from, but look at the origional Greek in the interlinear which says to each, not every man. Also, there are examples in the bible wherein baptized believers did not automatically have the gifts of the Spirit. Also, 1 Cor 12:28 says "God hath set...

    Spiritual gifts: Unconfusing them

I have explained this previously, the events which occurred in in Acts 2 and similarly in Acts 10. In both instances, the only 2 times recorded in the bible, the Holy Spirit fell miraculously on individuals unilaterally without the laying on of the apostle's hands. In Acts 2, it fell on the...

Do you believe Spirit baptism replaces water baptism?

    Goodbye. You make no sense

Do you believe Spirit baptism replaces water baptism?

You make no sense. Being baptized into Christ means being immersed in water. The baptism in Acts 2:38 is identical to the baptism of John in Luke 3:16, Mark1:4, Mat 3:6, John 1:26, in water, in the Jordan River and, for the same reason, the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins...

Do you believe Spirit baptism replaces water baptism?

You said it yourself above: you said "I was baptised INTO Christ. That is where my sins are washed. It is dfone by Gods mercy through the washing and renewal of the Holy Spirit". EXACTLY! you were baptized, immersed in water, for the remission of your sins which is exactly what Acts 2:38 says...

    Spiritual gifts: Unconfusing them

Here are my comments from above written on response to another member which apply to you as well. I thought I laid it out concisely in my OP. But in a nutshell, the gifts, or enabling of the spirit to manifest itself in certain individuals, was done by the laying on of the apostle's hands, as...

Do you believe Spirit baptism replaces water baptism?

You are 100% totally wrong. Nothing got changed: the bible nowhere says nor infers that. And your comment about Paul not being sent to baptize shows your lack of understanding. Read futher in 1 Cor 3:6. Paul planted and Apollos watered. Paul was the orator.

Do you believe Spirit baptism replaces water baptism?

Once again, you're out to lunch. In the John 3:5 passage, what do you think WATER means, to be born of water? Kool-aid? And read the original Greek interlinear which says "for the forgiveness of sins of you"; "for" is a preposition. They are not forgiven until you are baptized and they are...

Do you believe Spirit baptism replaces water baptism?

You are very wrong . He also told us to believe and be baptized to be saved in Mark16:15-16. He also said as recorded in one of the passages you adhere to, John 3:5, that you must be born of WATER and of the Spirit. Acts 2:38 clearly spells that out: that you must be baptized for the remission...

    Spiritual gifts: Unconfusing them

Lots of fluffy words and thoughts of yours that sound nice but no scriptural foundation

    Spiritual gifts: Unconfusing them

I thought I laid it out concisely in my OP. But in a nutshell, the gifts, or enabling of the spirit to manifest itself in certain individuals, was done by the laying on of the apostle's hands, as promised to them by Christ as the power from on high in Luke 24:47. They are dead, so by virtue of...

Do you believe Spirit baptism replaces water baptism?

You're doing exactly what you're questioning, by cherrypicking a few scriptures and ignoring the rest. So you're relying solely on John 3, 4, 5, 6? What about the various NT letters or the conversions in Acts? What about Mat 28:19 or the aforementioned Mark 16:15-16? Do you think the entirety of...

Do you believe Spirit baptism replaces water baptism?

Baptism in that passage is water baptism no different from the baptism commenced by John. You do realize that it's upon baptism that you receive the Holy Ghost and not before. And what do you mean by Spirit baptism and based on what scripture?

Do you believe Spirit baptism replaces water baptism?

Your words and not consistent with the words of the bible. Being a believer means nothing in and of itself. If you're a believer then you must obey. Mark16:15-16 15And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. 16He that believeth and is baptized...

Do you believe Spirit baptism replaces water baptism?

Jesus had many followers during his earthly ministry but just being a follower doesn't mean you are his. A follower doesn't mean you are a Christian. Believing in and having morals based on Christian principles doesn't mean you're a Christian. Believing in God and/of Christ doesn't mean you are...

Do you believe Spirit baptism replaces water baptism?

Baptism saves us according to 1 Peter 3:20-1. It's NOT a public declaration of anything. That's man contrived nonsense not found in the bible. In Acts 8, Philip baptized the Ethiopian eunuch in the middle of nowhere in front of no one. Who was his baptism a "public declaration" to?

Do you believe Spirit baptism replaces water baptism?

Just for clarification, the church is not the "followers of Christ", but rather is comprised of those believers who have been baptized into his body which is the church (Acts 2:38-47). Those in the church are his, and are owned by him since he "purchased it with his own blood", Acts 20:28.
