    Hello from Tennessee.

Welcome to Christianity Board Matt! What school are you currently studying at, if you don't mind me asking? I am thoroughly impressed that you are able to juggle 3 children and school!

    The Harbinger... Very enlightening!!

When you start messing around with Oprah and saying some of the things that the book says, I don't put any stock in it. http://www.challies.com/book-reviews/the-ancient-mystery-that-holds-the-secret-of-americas-future http://www.biblicalintegrity.org/blog/2012/04/26/harbinger-fact-fiction/

Interesting Perspective on why Millions of People "Snapping"

While I agree with much of the article - the depression stats and estimates (which I've also heard elsewhere) are staggering - I think the article blames way too much on politics and terrorism. I think the day-to-day stress levels are what are far stronger than any particular President or...

Forum Software Upgrade - Keyboard Post Commands Restored

We've just completed a quick upgrade and you should now be able to use keyboard commands when posting topics and replies again. I know that was an annoyance for many, as we do apologize for the inconvenience - it frankly annoyed us too!

Is it over for the PC?

Rocky, I used that image for a presentation at work a couple weeks ago. :D Did ya'll see where Windows 8.1 beta is adding in a feature for going back to the old start menu format? I don't think the fat lady has quite sung; even OSX still offers a traditional format. I think you'll see...

Is it over for the PC?

I've wondered about this myself. I work in the IT industry and my line of eLearning work requires that I work with products for PCs, laptops, tablets and mobile phones. The issue that I think retains the relevancy of the PC is that there are just some enduser experiences that require larger...

The Record Theory - Final Authority and Final Canonization

I heard that when Jesus ascended in Acts, it was left out that a 1611 KJV fell to the Earth from the sky without Apocrypha. (I grew up with, still use and have nothing against the KJV.)

    Can Satan read our minds?

I don't, for one, think that Satan can read our minds. He is a created being, and that capacity is a power that belongs to God. I would base this on the accounts of Satan in Scripture, primarily dealing with his affliction and tempting of Job. Satan is free to tempt Job, but he never indicates...

And what are you doing in response to that, OP?

    Is theology biblical?

Proverbs 25:2 It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings. We have to catch a glimpse into who God is - God's heart even, if you will - by looking at what he has told us. Quantifying that is what is called theology in some circles. One of the...

    Is theology biblical?

Why would the study of God not be Biblical, outside of a slanted play on words?

    We Have Real Hope

1 Peter 1:3-4 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. Our church came up with the slogan of...

You could at least attribute this to it's original author. ;)

    Modernity: Truth or relativism?

Well, I think modernity/postmodernity account for phenomena like the so-called "rise of the nones" you seem to be hearing so much more about lately. I think relativism heavily influences our hearts and minds because you get a lot of theology that works very hard to reject tradition and foster...

Is it biblical for Jesus' followers to approve of the military practice?

You're only examining Jesus in the context of the Gospels and his mission on the cross, which is a piece of the whole. You're failing to account for both the Old Testament in the Revelation where the language is quite violent. The error is yours, but I only argue with brick walls for so long, sorry.

Is it biblical for Jesus' followers to approve of the military practice?

So I see this as implicit denial that Peter was told to put down the sword because the resulting melee would have changed/influenced Jesus being on the cross? Am I correct in this assessment? Let's be honest. The problem I am having with your reading is that you're reading into this passage...

Is it biblical for Jesus' followers to approve of the military practice?

Attack my age, that's the way to win an argument! Until you actually respond to my points with a coherent response, you're currently unable to show what you advocate. It's amazing, yet not amazing that you continue to ignore anything that presents a challenge and move right along to...

Is it biblical for Jesus' followers to approve of the military practice?

No, I'm merely highlighting your idolization of pacifism, as you have now further reinforced because you resort to the ole' fashioned straw man's argument. Because I bring out episodes of violence which directly conflict with your opinion of things, I am "dismissing" all other examples which is...

The LORD/Lord appears as 3 and speaks as 1 to Abraham

We'll have to agree to disagree, you're making a huge assumption based on a single ambivalent passage because of the particular translation you're employing.

Is it biblical for Jesus' followers to approve of the military practice?

Because Peter and the disciples slaying the temple guards would not have lead to the cross. Jesus went to the cross because it was God's plan and not because he advocated pacifism, which is your idol. Using that logic, Jesus was also a Jew considering he quoted from those same Old Testament...
