Why do so many oppose imputed righteousness?

I said he "SEEMS" to be implying that. He posted "Repented and forgiven!!! And if you forget one....you go straight to hell!! Right?" Does this not SEEM to you he is implying a Christian can be impenitent of his sins and still be saved? It does to me. Maybe he can clear this statement of his up.

Why do so many oppose imputed righteousness?

----Yes I certainly, whole heartedly do reject Martin Luther's philosophy of salvation by faith alone and accept the Bible's teaching of salvation by an obedient faith. ----I have never said one can earn salvation by works. I have said, as the Bible shows, that salvation is a free gift that...

Why do so many oppose imputed righteousness?

Being Jewish or not has nothing to do with it, sin separates ANYONE from God including the Christian…."Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him; Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a...

no longer sinners under the law (Romans 3:9-19).

Again, the "works" of Romans 4:6 refers to the perfect flawless works required by the OT law for one to be justified and not obedience. Therefore neither David nor Abraham could be justified by the OT law for they both sinned, neither were perfectly flawless. How then were they justified if...

    No Righteousness = No Heaven

Sin unto death is being eternally lost. The Bible only gives us two eternal fates; salvation or condemnation. In Romans 6:16 Paul puts forth those two options showing we each are going to either be lost by serving sin unto death or be saved by serving obedience unto righteousness. unto death...

Why do so many oppose imputed righteousness?

Sin separates ANYONE from God. 1 John 1:7 "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin." The continual (present tense) walking in the light includes a continual repentance of sins...

Why do so many oppose imputed righteousness?

Exodus 23:7 "Keep thee far from a false matter; and the innocent and righteous slay thou not: for I will not justify the wicked." The Bible does not contradict itself, Romans 4:5 does not contradict Exodus 23:7. God does not justify the ungodly as long as the ungodly live in disobedience to...

Why do so many oppose imputed righteousness?

Putting one's faith in Christ means doing what Christ said in being baptized. It is only in baptism that one puts on Christ (Galatians 3:27) putting on Christ's perfect righteousness. No verse at all speaks of Christ's righteousness being transferred to the sinner while the sinner continues to...

    God's Laws Still In Effect

The NT law, not the OT law. The OT law cannot justify (Galatians 3:11) as the NT law can justify. Salvation does require keeping the do and don't of the NT law. The NT law says do not lie, steal, commit adultery, etc. THose that do not keep these don'ts will be lost. One who does not keep...

Why do so many oppose imputed righteousness?

There is no verse that says it is impossible for a Christian to sin. If it were impossible for the Christian to sin, then it makes no sense for the Christian to be told to continue to walk in the light so all his sins will be cleansed by the blood of Christ when the Christian has no sins to be...

Why do so many oppose imputed righteousness?

If sins go unrepented of they will separate one from God. The Jews were God's chosen people yet "your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear."

Why do so many oppose imputed righteousness?

Romans 4:6 "Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God reckons righteousness without works," ....shows David was credited righteousness without the flawless, strict works required by the OT law that he lived under. Yet he was justified by his obedient faith in...

Why do so many oppose imputed righteousness?

If the Christian will not repent of that sin, then God does not overlook it. Yet "IF" the Christian continues to walk in the light (includes repentance) then the blood of Christ washes away all sins (1 John 1:7) and the Christian is seen as blameless, spotless, 2 Peter 3:14. "IF" the Christian...

    No Righteousness = No Heaven

Absolutely. There is not one single example of one who lived in unrighteousness but justified anyway. 1 John 2:29; 1 John 3:7; Acts 10:35; James 1:20 righteousness is something one WORKS, something one DOETH. It would be impossible for one to reach a state of being righteous by not ever DOING...

Why do so many oppose imputed righteousness?

God is the One who forgives, BUT He only forgives those that repent. THis is why the Christian cannot continue in sin and expect to still be saved anyway.. God's perfect justice, perfect Holiness, perfect righteousness does not allow Him to ignore the sins one commits.

Why do so many oppose imputed righteousness?

Anyone, (Christian or not), who sins before God and will not repent of that sin but instead continues in that sin is not blameless before God. A Christian is to pray to God for forgiveness (Acts of the Apostles 8:22) for it is God Who was sinned against and God only Who can forgive. 1 John 1:8...

Why do so many oppose imputed righteousness?

Ultimately God....."Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight" Psalms 51:4. Therefore the idea some people have that sin is ok if it does not hurt any other man is not true.

Why do so many oppose imputed righteousness?

Yes, 1 John 1:7-10 1 Jn 3:9 "Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God." "Cannot sin" is present tense meaning the Christian cannot continue in sin. Therefore when a Christian sins he cannot continue in that...

Why do so many oppose imputed righteousness?

As pointed out earlier in this thread it is faith onlyist who are trying to figure out a way to get a man to be seen as righteous by God without that man DOING any obedience at all. No verse teaches that righteous is imputed or transferred to the sinner while the sinner continues in...

Why do so many oppose imputed righteousness?

By a faith that works God's righteousness. THose who "worketh righteousness" are those who are accepted with God Acts 10:35. Faith only therefore cannot make one righteous. Faith only does not justify, James 2.
