    Was Jesus Orthodox? (or Baptist?)

Just thinking about this a little further. When related to sport for example, I remember one Olympic competition a number of decades ago. A high jumper entered with a very " unorthodox" style. Yet highly effective, in fact so effective, nearly every high jumper today has adopted it, or...

    Was Jesus Orthodox? (or Baptist?)

Because you get war and persecution. The historical persecutions waged against the non trinitarians by Constantine after Nicea ought to make every Trinitarian blush. 3 entire nations were destroyed in the 6th century by empirical armies predominantly because they were "Arian"....at least that...

    Was Jesus Orthodox? (or Baptist?)

I think we get into difficulties when we disagree on what is and is not, essential. Then we get into difficulties when we disagree with those who devised the creeds, and their perspective, and use of assumptions, in arriving at their "essential doctrines". But we aren't allowed to talk about that.

The deconstructing of the law in the New Testament

KJV Matthew 5:21-22 21 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: 22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say...

The deconstructing of the law in the New Testament

It wasn't where I was going, but the congregation would have learned very quickly to gather firewood on Friday...the day of preparation...so named for a reason yes? However, on the other hand, it would have been somewhat difficult to pull your neighbours sheep, or your own, out of a ditch on...

The deconstructing of the law in the New Testament

I disagree. He wasn't deconstructing the law. He was demonstrating the true scope and meaning that was innate to the law all along. He was demonstrating that love, and mercy, were still law, but "weightier" than the strict legalistic interpretations placed on the law by the Pharisees. Do you...

Is the "free gift" of salvation really free? - Honestly?

Oh, we need to die also. But all we are sacrificing is crap lives lived for selfish pleasure and useless ambition. Compared to what God sacrificed.... Redemption costs us nothing. Ultimate salvation is another story.

The deconstructing of the law in the New Testament

So. The law being deconstructed is the Mishnah? Rabbinical traditions and oral law? I can run with that, and I get it. When I see Sabbath law, I immediately think of the 4th Commandment. The Pharisaical accoutrements that they added to the Sabbath law at the return from Babylon, yes, Jesus...

Is the "free gift" of salvation really free? - Honestly?

Forgive me if I've missed it, but it appears that everyone is overlooking something. Everyone's favourite scripture tells us the cost. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son...," There you have it. Salvation costs us nothing. But it cost God everything.

The deconstructing of the law in the New Testament

Doesn't make those things mutually exclusive. And remember, the laws pertaining to the sanctuary services, known as the law of Moses as opposed to the laws of God, was the expression of grace to Israel. Remember also why the law of Moses was given. Why the sanctuary services were instituted...

    Was Jesus Orthodox? (or Baptist?)

As I said, quote...He condemned them for their selfish power and prestige motivated applications and interpretations of that law. The picking of corn on the Sabbath was their interpretation of harvest. They taught the law, but because of their poor character they showed no mercy. The healing on...

    Was Jesus Orthodox? (or Baptist?)

They had the law and the prophets. They taught the law, as that was their job. Jesus didn't condemn them for teaching the law. He condemned them for their selfish power and prestige motivated applications and interpretations of that law...a lesson I believe for all of us. We profess to ground...

    Was Jesus Orthodox? (or Baptist?)

Nothing Jesus taught or practised was outside of the law and the prophets, hence orthodox. Jesus never once, as far as I am aware, condemned the rulers of His day with wrong teaching. But He did condemn them for their evil characters, their hypocrisy, and their behaviour and attitudes to...

    Was Jesus Orthodox? (or Baptist?)

I think that a lot of groups define their beliefs, not do much for themselves, but to answer the questions of others. Once a group gets started, and begins to grow, others start paying attention. They all questions. They start challenging what they see. The demand explanations. Hence creeds. The...

Thinking Christians will support Trump who is pro christian, pro life, pro Israel, make American great again.

You guys do realise that the Antichrist is a Christian power right? Or at least, nominally. As prophecy indicates, the Antichrist, man of sin, etc, is seated within the temple----the church, He isn't attacking it from outside. So ask yourselves. What is the most likely scenario. A right wing...

Thinking Christians will support Trump who is pro christian, pro life, pro Israel, make American great again.

Mm. So which church's doctrines are going to be legislated? Which church to receive power? What will that power mean for those who disagree with their political overtures? Even Christian dissenters from the popular orthodoxy...what will happen to them as they are concerned and charged...

Elect or Not Elect: Why ALL Should Be Alarmed

My must humble apologies. Somehow, completely unbeknown to myself, I quoted you by mistake. My entire post was intended for @FaithWillDo . Again, my apologies. As for you, I commend you patience and your willingness to engage with him.

For the time being yes. Legislation that will support and empower the church will tear the constitution to shreds.

Elect or Not Elect: Why ALL Should Be Alarmed

I'm sorry, but your theology and eschatology and mixed up scriptures reveal no pattern and no order. It's a hodge-podge and a confusion of truth and tragic error. I see no fruit coming from discussing any of it with you. What you need to do is start again. From scratch. Discard everything...
