There is only one true church

I can't. (How many times do I have to say so?) And I am not a sola scriptura guy.

There is only one true church

You may have me mixed up with someone else. I'm not anti-catholic, nor a sola scriptura guy. But the claim of Mary's perpetual virginity is not mine to prove, and certainly not my burden to disprove. The burden of proof is on the proponent of the proposition. I have said several times now...

There is only one true church

Well, I have to agree with that. Her perpetual virginity cannot be proven by Scripture. Where you and I may part company is over my contention that her perpetual virginity cannot be disproved by Scripture either. But @Augustin56 is going to point us to some passages that, rightly interpreted...

There is only one true church

I'm surprised at you, @BOL. The issue of whether Mary was perpetually a virgin cannot be settled by determining that Jesus had no half-siblings. Let's agree that he didn't. It doesn't answer the question. Why even bother to waste ink on the sibling issue? It's a straw man. My son is an...

There is only one true church

Well said. Except for the part about Mary's perpetual virginity being found in Scripture (if properly interpreted). She may well have been. But Scripture doesn't say so one way or the other. What verses need proper interoretation in order to support her perpetual virginity?

There is only one true church

Analogizing 2 Samuel 6:9 and Luke 1:43 just doesn't fly. I don't know what translation of 2 Samuel 6:9 has "Who am I that the ark of my Lord should come to me?" but it is obviously gerrymandered. The true sense of David's statement is one of consternation after witnessing God strike dead...

Kamala Harris silent as stock markets tank

And you believe Bidenomics -- terrible though it is -- is responsible for the stock market dip? There is NO WAY, pal! Not even this economist thinks THAT! Why don't you blame global warming on Bidenomics while you're at it?

Kamala Harris silent as stock markets tank

Other than agreeing with you that Biden and Harris are respectively a poor President and VP, I wonder if there is anything else you and I can agree on when it comes to those two. You want to pin every bad thing that happens with financial markets on them, as if the Presidency were steering the...

CALVINISM IS SIMPLY THE GOSPEL BELIEVED

If you'll permit a mild dissent here -- I don't see Calvinism as the work of the Devil at all. I just see it as incredibly stupid. Not every idiotic theological musing is of the Devil. Those who hold to Calvinism aren't duped by the Devil, they are duped by a stupid man.

CALVINISM IS SIMPLY THE GOSPEL BELIEVED

Ask David. He authored Psalm 139:7, not me.

I'd like to read those first century recognitions. Can you point some out to me? Or should I ask Jimmy Akins, whose post on the subject you copied (without attribution)?

Open Debate Challenge on My Defending the KJV as the Perfect Word for Today in English

Wait a minute! YOU understand at least some of God's nature, because you took part in a study, remember? Here's what you said:

CALVINISM IS SIMPLY THE GOSPEL BELIEVED

Who says I don't hear the Holy Spirit? NEVER have I claimed that believers don't hear the Holy Spirit. My post is not about hearing the Holy Spirit, but about where the Holy Spirit gets the information He relates to us. John suggests that He overhears it elsewhere. That's what I am exploring.
  14. R

CALVINISM IS SIMPLY THE GOSPEL BELIEVED

Read literally, John is saying the Spirit is speaking what he hears. "Hears" from whom? Step up, you Trinitarians out there, and weigh in on why the Spirit doesn't already know what to say without hearing it from anyone or anything.

    Paul's hypocrisy and its consequence

"Punished?" No. I don't think that. I never said that. I never implied that. (Are you reading the right post?)

Why more Christians need to stop equating Allah with the God of Abraham

Sure. Using ACTS as an acronym, my prayer pattern typically starts with Adoration, then Confession, then Thanksgiving, and lastly Supplication. Just seems like the right order to me.

Why more Christians need to stop equating Allah with the God of Abraham

You may be right that there are no instructions in Scripture to pray to Jesus, although John 14:14 -- at least if "me" is in the original (a debatable point) -- could be interpreted as such an instruction. But there are instances of praying to Jesus recorded in Scripture. Stephen did it (Acts...

Open Debate Challenge on My Defending the KJV as the Perfect Word for Today in English

My sincere apologies, I didn't know you took part in a study. Why didn't you say so? Everything you said about God's nature that I suggested was galactically stupid, I will now treat as the gospel truth.
