    Please explain this.

The Bible does not contradict itself. The problem lies with Luther's idea that 'faith only' saves, which is not found in the Bible. When one tries and force Luther's faith only into scripture one ends up with problems. Paul and James are in total agreement: James...

    What is Works Theology?

Hebrews 2:9 Christ died for every man but every man will not be saved because every man will not obey Christ, Hebrews 5:9. Obedience is a necessary condition God has placed upon His free gift of salvation. There is a difference between working to earn some thing and meeting the condition place...

    Subtracting Works

Romans 8:5-7 a person chooses which he puts he mind on, whether the flesh or spirit. People ae not locked in to only focusing their attention on the flesh but people can choose to mind things of the spirit as those in Acts 2. In Acts 2, those whom Peter preached to were unsaved, yet while in...

Why does Paul make statements that sound a lot like salvation is at least partially by works?

I do not agree, one person does not reap what another person sows. I am not accountable for what you do, you are not accountable for what I do. Luther's faith only violates the Bible's law on sowing and reaping.

    Subtracting Works

Obedience is a CONSEQUENCE of one being saved, but obedience is also necessary IN ORDER TO BE saved. Some will claim one is FIRST saved THEN one obeys as a consequence of being saved, but as Paul said, one serves "obedience UNTO righteousness" and NOT "obedience because one already is...

    Subtracting Works

It needs to be understood that "not of works" of Ephesians 2:9 does not eliminate obedience to God's will. It does eliminate the idea that man can do his own works and save himself and thereby merit his own salvation. A man could boast about such good, perfect work in saving himself by...

Why does Paul make statements that sound a lot like salvation is at least partially by works?

Each individual must do his own sowing, no one can sow for another. Again, From Romans 2:6 God will render to every man according to his own deeds. Therefore one reaps what he sows for himself. One then must first sow (present tense) to the Spirit if wants to reap (future tense) everlasting life.

Why does Paul make statements that sound a lot like salvation is at least partially by works?

There is the necessary condition of sowing BEFORE one can reap everlasting life. Claiming conditions are not necessary would have people reaping what they have not sown which is an impossibility. And clearly Paul did not say nor imply one is earning everlasting life by sowing. But again, the...

Why does Paul make statements that sound a lot like salvation is at least partially by works?

Romans 2:6 "Who will render to every man according to his deeds;" The type of works one does, whether righteous or unrighteous, determines one's eternal abode, heaven or hell. All God will do on judgment day is hand out to each one of us the sentence that fits the type of works we each choose...

    2 Thessalonians 1:8

    (1) the thief is not an example of NT gospel salvation for the NT was not even yet in effect when the thief was promised paradise, Hebrews 9:16-17. The NT requires "to believe in thine heart that God hath raised (past tense) him from the dead" Romans 10:9. Also the NT requires one to be...

    2 Thessalonians 1:8

No, I have never said that. One must first believe before one can be baptized, Mark 16:16.

    2 Thessalonians 1:8

The new birth takes place when one is water baptized. No one has to be first "regenerated" out of their "totally depraved" state where then they can then obey, that is Calvinism and not found in the Bible.

    2 Thessalonians 1:8

I do not see where you are getting the idea that the command to be baptized is for "those who look on". In Acts 2:38 the command to be baptized is for those who are lost in their sins and therefore the lost are commanded to be baptized "for the remission of sins". Eph 4:5 today there is just...

    2 Thessalonians 1:8

Those who do not "obey the gospel of Christ" per verse 8 will be the one's that will be "punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord" per verse 9. Hence those that obey not the gospel of Christ will be the ones punished in flaming fire, in everlasting destruction. So I...

BAPTISM SAVES, FOR THE REMISSION OF SINS"

All the books in the NT have application to people today, as John 3:5. The "one baptism" of Eph 4:5 is the baptism of Christ's great commission that had humans administering water baptism and this baptism that makes one a disciple would last "till the of the world", Matthew 28:19-20. The...

    2 Thessalonians 1:8

Obedience to the will of God is the only way the Bible teaches one can be justified, Rom 6:17-18. There is no example of anyone's disobedience to God's will that made them justified. Abraham was justified BY his obedience works in doing God's will in sacrificing Isaac. He could never have...

BAPTISM SAVES, FOR THE REMISSION OF SINS"

John 3:5; Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38; Acts 10:47-48 etc etc. Luke 6:46 one cannot be a follower of Christ without DOING what Christ said to do.

    2 Thessalonians 1:8

Unrighteous men can become righteous men by obeying the will of God as those unrighteous sinners Peter preached to in Acts 2 obeyed Acts 2:38 thereby becoming righteous men. Again, there is no verse in the Bible that gives an example of a sinful unrighteous man becoming righteous without...

    2 Thessalonians 1:8

Evidently I do not understand the point you are trying to make. My point from 2 Thess 1:8 is that the verse logically makes "obeying the gospel of Christ" a necessity if one does not want to be lost in flaming fire. Verse 9 therefore implies those who have NOT obeyed the gospel of Christ are...

    2 Thessalonians 1:8

John's baptism was replaced by the human administered water baptism of Christ's great commission at Pentecost Acts 2. And Christ's baptism is a form of the gospel (death burial & resurrection of Christ) and this form of the gospel must be obeyed to be saved (avoid flaming fire) 2 Thess 1:8...
