Where does the Pope get his authority?

True. And what did those first disciples do with their new found faith? KJV Acts 2:5-11 5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. 6 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard...

Where does the Pope get his authority?

I'm not playing these silly word games with you, where you continuously attempt to trick people into corners through lies and obfuscation.

Where does the Pope get his authority?

Indeed. One church... One body... With many members. One of those members was the Papal church in Rome. One branch fell away from the true. Apostatised. Wrote it's own bill of divorce through rejecting her Husband and marrying the kings and queens of this world and trusting in them to sustain...

Where does the Pope get his authority?

I think you do the original Protestant reformers a grave disservice in claiming they "struck out to become friends of the world'. I don't know from whence in your watchtower teachings such an idea came, but as the reformers began to study scripture for themselves and discover the numerous errors...

Where does the Pope get his authority?

Further to the above... A distinction has long been recognized between the northern Italian peninsula and the central part, so that for more than one thousand years the bishoprics in northern Italy were called Italic, while those in central Italy were named Roman. Or, as Frederick Nolan says...

Where does the Pope get his authority?

Very good. We seldom give consideration to the original lives that people lived prior to coming to Christ. We load up excuses for ourselves for not living up to the great light we have been blessed with, and the generations of print material and modern technology available to us to study...

Where does the Pope get his authority?

I think it would be more accurate to say, rather than illegitimate, it wasn't Catholic. There were many church councils outside off Roman Catholic jurisdiction having no presence or papal approval. These were entirely legitimate. Jesus was of course right. Yet the church in Rome did fall, and...

Here is why, as an Adventist, I believe America is in Trouble.

I've been re-reading through this thread. Something occurred to me a page or two back, and your post here clinched what I was thinking. Counterfeiting is a massive business. It's one of the prime reasons governments and bankers are working to do away with cash using CBDCs. So while...

Where does the Pope get his authority?

No. They aren't. If they were, they wouldn't be involving themselves in ecumenism, nor would they be signing formal agreements with Rome declaring that both they and Rome now agree on certain doctrinal matters which previously caused the division in the first place. Such as justification by faith.

Your spiritual rebirth story - An event, or a gradual experience?

Over 47 years ago at age 24, after too many years spent in quiet but determined refusal to acknowledge or consider God, His ways or His people, and imbibing in practices and substances and a lifestyle which pleased me well, but impinged greatly on other’s rights and freedoms, I was asked a...

The Only Way We Will Ever Agree

We will all agree when we are all ready to die. When we are all ready to be humbled into the dust and accept that we know nothing as we ought. When we are no longer willing to take the easy safe road, rather than suffer a little while. When we cease to seek the favour of men, and jump around...

Where does the Pope get his authority?

Protestants were so called and defined by their practise. Just as Christians are defined, not by anyone's self proclamation, but by their practise and lifestyle. Is someone a Catholic simply because they say so? Or is it because they've gone through various hoops, cut the red tape, and done all...

Where does the Pope get his authority?

He may not have authority within the church, but I'm Justinian's case, He had authority over his empire, and the bishops acted with his permission. He was interested in theology, and wanted Christianity to flourish, but augmented his zeal with a powerful bent toward persecuting those who...

Where does the Pope get his authority?

Doesn't matter what they call themselves. They aren't protesting any more, therefore they aren't Protestant. The dictionary you quoted gave the practise of protesting... Being protesting in favour, or for the testimony, that is sola scriptura, and against Rome. The wannabe Catholic Bishop, the...

Is Sunday sacredness in the Bible?

GH. You make some interesting points. Sunday sacredness isn't in the Bible. It developed after the 1st century. Yep, so very true. And slowly also, as your depth of understanding of history will no doubt affirm. The early Christians who began Sunday observance did so to avoid being identified...

Is Sunday sacredness in the Bible?

Mmmm. Right out of my mouth. Since rejoining this forum I have posted 8544 times. I assure you IstCL, there are other topics I would rather discuss, not that I don't love the Sabbath, but there are topics, such as church history, righteousness by faith, and prophecy that interest me more. Oh...

Where does the Pope get his authority?

Okay, you win. Which begs the question therefore, on what basis were these practises so persistently executed against a people whose sole purpose in life was to share the gospel of Jesus Christ and live in harmony with man and nature? I accept your declaration that it wasn't canon law to...

Where does the Pope get his authority?

So while they refused and rejected Roman authority, but in all other points harmonized with scripture and were fine examples and good citizens of all the nations to which they were chased and harried, the Catholic church sought their extinction solely because they testified to Rome's corruptions...
