Run that by me again, Moses

Jewish monotheism came first in the church.

Run that by me again, Moses

I’m consistent in my teaching, preaching, conversation and counseling. I’m a Jewish monotheist who believes in God (Yahweh) and also in the Messiah (Jesus of Nazareth). I present and defend Jewish monotheism using, among other things, the concessions of trinitarian scholarship.
  3. Matthias

Run that by me again, Moses

He is on the thread of Jewish monotheist who believes that Jesus of Nazareth - himself a Jewish monotheist - is the Messiah, the Son of God.

Run that by me again, Moses

It was never about “busting his chops”. I’m disappointed he decided to stand by his comment about Dr. Witherington.
  5. Matthias

Run that by me again, Moses

This is false. You know now that it is false. You had an opportunity to correct it and chose not to.
  6. Matthias

Run that by me again, Moses

He himself told you in the clip that Jesus wasn’t and isn’t Yahweh. I didn’t put those words in his mouth. You now know for a fact that Dr. Witherington himself doesn’t believe that Jesus was or is Yahweh and you also know that he himself still affirms the doctrine of the Trinity and the deity...

Run that by me again, Moses

I can assure both of you that I did.
  8. Matthias

What would you do if …

I agree with what Dr. Witherington said. He doesn’t believe Jesus was and is Yahweh. Neither do I. I’ll shake his hand and say amen.
  9. Matthias

What would you do if …

I didn’t make a mistake. He made a concession to history and to Jewish monotheism. I commonly make use of, and appeal to, trinitarian concessions. What was put in front of you is the truth. It is your fault. Instead of asking, you falsely accused. This occasionally happens to pastors. The...

Run that by me again, Moses

The clip I posted is from one of his lectures. It wasn’t taken out of context and I don’t owe him an apology. His comment is something which he and I are in agreement about. It’s a historical fact. He believes in a doctrine which you asserted - and still haven’t retracted and apologized for -...

No. Hopefully helping him to correct a grave error. In fact, Yahweh is Jesus’ God and Father. Not only is that Jewish monotheism, that is scripture.
  12. Matthias

What would you do if …

It obviously is all that you went on. His statement doesn’t contradict scripture. He is simply acknowledging that it is the common understanding in 1st century, Second Temple, Judaism. Je made a concession to history. He is able to hold that in tension with the doctrine of the full deity of...
  13. Matthias

Run that by me again, Moses

Your response slandered him. He believes and affirms what you asserted he doesn’t. I don’t question your intention. The fact remains, you bore false witness against him. So does Dr. Witherington. And so do I. Dr. Witherington beliecves and teaches trinitarian doctrine. Now that you know...
  14. Matthias

What would you do if …

And now the question arises for the pastor and for a false accuser: How to respond to a false accusation made against the pastor?
  15. Matthias

What would you do if …

I‘m not particularly a fan of asking AI questions but I put the following question to AI this afternoon about Dr. Ben Witherington: “Is Ben Witherington a heretic?” AI responded: ”No, Ben Itherington is generally not considered a hertic. He is a respected New Testament scholar and pastor, with...

    The happy thread

    * More precisely, an immodest thongbird. *
  17. Matthias

What would you do if …

Having falsely accused a trinitarian scholar (in another thread this afternoon) who affirms the doctrine of the full deity of Christ of rejecting the doctrine of the full deity of Christ, you‘ve illustrated a concern I have about your response to the OP. I don’t doubt your sincerity but your...

Run that by me again, Moses

Trinitarian scholarship also disagrees with his statement. I gather from what he has said that he doesn’t find the concessions of trinitarian scholarship persuasive. I respect that, but I find their concessions very persuasive. That’s right.
  19. Matthias

Run that by me again, Moses

Dr. Witherington doesn’t reject “the full deity of Christ”. You’ve slandered him and owe him an apology.
  20. Matthias

Run that by me again, Moses

I’m a Jewish monotheist who believes that Jesus of Nazareth is the Messiah, Son of the living God. I believe the Bible. Which came first in the church: Jewish unitary monotheism or trinitary monotheism?
