    John Calvin and Calvinism.

LOL! I do doubly encourage you... :D I'm quite well aware of that. And I don't care. :) Oh, putting words in folks mouths again, I see. That's surely not cool. And you know it, yet still do it, which is doubly not cool. There's your double-speak, I guess. LOL! Hey, I'm just trying to...

    John Calvin and Calvinism.

Well, yes to the first question, and yes to the first half of the second. Nothing God does depends on man or whether he allows anything or not. :) I would really encourage you to watch the video I posted previously (Post 1411). Grace and peace to you.

Do Men Have Authority Over Women?

Yes, Scott... I think this is what you're getting at... "remaining silent" or "remaining quiet" is another misunderstood concept introduced by Paul, there. It's not a wooden "keep your mouth shut." :) Grace and peace to you.

Do Men Have Authority Over Women?

Well, yes. Opinion noted. :) Well, and to women, and women to women, and women to men, and, yes, men to women. We are all to submit to one another. Paul makes no mention of gender in Ephesians 5:1-21. And again, there's a misunderstanding of what biblical submission really is (again, it is...

Do Men Have Authority Over Women?

Right, and right. And again, I would add the question, "What does true biblical authority and true biblical submission look like? In Ephesians 5 in particular, just before Paul gives instruction to husbands and wives, He exhorts all of us ~ men and women alike, regardless of any position in...

Do Men Have Authority Over Women?

I'm with you here... Sure! God can use anybody to accomplish His purposes. Might not the Holy Spirit have been at work to bring about that outcome? Grace and peace to you, Lambano.

Do Men Have Authority Over Women?

Well, yes, in that day, for instance, a woman's testimony in court was considered meaningless. That's just the way society was in those days. The Bible says nothing about whether that was good or bad. But on a better understanding of the Bible, we can see that that was not good. Yes, Paul...

    John Calvin and Calvinism.

I posted this in the Once Saved Always Saved thread, but it's even more appropriate here: I would encourage watching this. This is a sermon by the "evil"... 'horrific"... "heretical"... :)... R.C. Sproul. Well, thanks be to God, it matters not the mouth of which man (or woman) it comes out...

    Once Saved, Always Saved?

I would encourage watching this. This is a sermon by the "evil"... 'horrific"... "heretical"... :)... R.C. Sproul. Well, thanks be to God, it matters not the mouth of which man (or woman) it comes out of; God's truth is God's truth. I'm sure that there are those here who think they've thought...

    Run AWAY from Calvinism!

Ah. The peace that passes all understanding (Philippians 4:7), the assurance of things hoped for but are yet unseen (faith; Hebrews 11:1). Well that's certainly good to hear. Who gave that to you, Johann? Did you give it to yourself? Grace and peace to you.

Do Men Have Authority Over Women?

Well, he actually did, but just didn't expound on it. Plus he probably didn't answer them the way you wanted them to be answered. Appropriate roles for women in the church is an ongoing issue these days, so you shouldn't expect ~ and you probably don't; I'm just saying ~ anyone here to resolve...

Do Men Have Authority Over Women?

Yes, but even that is soft-pedaling the responsibility of the husband to his covenant wife. Christian men are to love their wives even as Christ loved (loves) the church ~ He (Christ) gave Himself up for her (His church). Worth pondering deeply in the heart, right? Grace and peace!

    John Calvin and Calvinism.

It certainly is. One might wonder why someone who acknowledges this would spend so much time refuting it (trying to, at least). Nope. It is the work of God in man. And, "He who (begins) a good work in (man) will bring it to completion at the day of Christ" (Philippians 1:6). Jesus Christ...

    John Calvin and Calvinism.

LOL!!! Of course you do. :) I... kind of... want to ask you what you think salvation really means, and what you think Baptists think salvation really means, but... not really. :) Grace and peace to you.

    John Calvin and Calvinism.

Agreed. All denominations have splits in them, for one reason or another, and that's unfortunate. But Jesus will set all things to rights soon enough. Well, they have some key differences. But on the essentials, the Gospel and matters that are truly salvific, there is no disagreement. And...

    John Calvin and Calvinism.

Well now that depends on which Baptists you're referring to. There are covenantal Baptists, and Calvinistic Baptists. And even among Calvinistic Baptists, some are only "3-" or "4-pointers." But that's really a small minority of all those under the Baptist umbrella. Grace and peace!

    John Calvin and Calvinism.

Eh... they're the same thing, so I disagree that the acronym is flawed. The problem is that the former, TULIP, is easier to misrepresent, and that's probably because the language originally used is about five hundred years old. I like your updating. :) Grace and peace to you, 1689.

    John Calvin and Calvinism.

God has mercy on whom He will have mercy, compassion on whom He will have compassion. God, desiring to show his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction, in order to make known the riches of his glory for vessels of mercy, which...

    John Calvin and Calvinism.

Oh... yes it does: hypostatic [ hahy-puh-stat-ik ] adjective Theology: pertaining to or constituting a distinct personal being or substance. Google (and in this case, Dictionary.com) is quite expedient sometimes. :) No problem... yes, at least in this one particular case concerning the...

    John Calvin and Calvinism.

Nothing. I mean I do care about folks mischaracterizing what God has said. But I don't care about your clumsiness, because it is what it is, and I can't do anything about it, even if I wanted to. :) Agreed; nor yours mine. But I have made no "mistakes" in my conversation with you. Ah, but...
