    The Nature of Jesus Christ

"A human nature . . . but one that was already covered by the Father." I have no clue what that means. Please explain.

Women Speaking and Ministering in Church

This nonsense about women being "saved in childbeaing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety" stumbles twice. First, it suggests that infertile women are disadvantaged when it comes to salvation. Second, it suggests that men who "continue in faith and charity and...

Women Speaking and Ministering in Church

It makes no sense that God would care one whit about the gonads of His ministers. But logic is never invoked as a basis to deny ordination to women. Rather, the arguments against women serving as clergy are always premised on Scripture and Tradition. The appeal to Scripture is primarily...

    The Nature of Jesus Christ

Yes, let's begin. I think you are on the right track here. And except for your comment "If such a thing was possible, or even plausible we would have a section of Scripture dedicated to enlightening us," I agree with pretty much everything you have said. (It is foolish to expect an answer to...

For those who think Christ is not God.

Point taken! I'm not going to cherry pick something out of Hebrews 11 and declare that its author meant what John's gospel (or any other writer) meant by the word monogenes, simply through the lens of how many sons Abraham actually had when he went to sacrifice Isaac. (Shame on me, I thought...

Not to me. You mention "kenos" as meaning "kind" or "race" -- although some might disagree -- but it seems to me that "kenos" isn't part of monogenes. Rather, "genes" is. Have you mistaken a "g" for a "k" here?

For those who think Christ is not God.

“Ah. The Son can be begotten, but not created; is that it, bishop?” “Precisely, my lord. In the Greek, the distinction is between gennetos, which means ‘begotten’ or ‘generated,’ and genetos, which signifies ‘having come into existence.’ The Father alone is unbegotten and ingenerate, but...

Nope. My Greek is not great.

Do you say that "begotten" entails "created"?

    ˒ĕlōhı̂m: Plural Persons, or Majesty?

New here, and just stumbled across this forum, but thought I'd throw my $0.02 into the pot. The post that has sparked this interesting debate observes that Gen. 1:1 uses a plural noun to denote God. From there the debate veers to trinitarian-vs-unitarian meanings, rather than to the key issue...
