Why are Moses & Elijah at the transfiguration?

Yes, I could name many too - anyone who spoke with God in a visible form. But not being glorified, in a bright cloud =]

Why are Moses & Elijah at the transfiguration?

if you deny He is God, you will not understand this either. Jesus Christ is never not-God. He is God and is always God. in Matthew 4:11 the word is literally to 'wait on & serve' -- as He is their Master & Creator. compare Luke 22 with John 17. He explicitly does not pray for Himself, but for...

Why are Moses & Elijah at the transfiguration?

well i guess we've already heard the 'standard answer' that i feel doesn't really answer. so here goes! for this we need some scripture, and i'm going to do a poor job of explaining, so take this and go study it all out; let's start here: Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware...

Why are Moses & Elijah at the transfiguration?

the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. (Revelation 21:8) any view that makes Christ afraid & doubting is a...

Why are Moses & Elijah at the transfiguration?

yup i kind of wanted to see if anyone gets it before just giving my view, tho. if i could lead anyone to think of it without me just stating it.. is it time for me to say? i'm perfectly willing, i just thought it best to give some space for responses first.

Why are Moses & Elijah at the transfiguration?

by unsatisfactory i mean, it does not explain specifically why these two are present. there's nothing in the text indicating 'law and prophets' must be symbolized by something -- that's a metaphor drawn from wondering why those two are there, used circularly to identify these two as 'best...

Why are Moses & Elijah at the transfiguration?

that's an interesting response, and one i haven't heard! but Elisha received a double portion of Elijah's spirit - so how can i say Elijah was the greatest prophet? or Moses? it's ultimately not based in scripture but eisegesis.

Why are Moses & Elijah at the transfiguration?

I think it is impossible for you to correctly understand and interpret scripture, because you do not believe scripture. You deny the person of Christ, saying He is not God. When I have more time, and am not on a phone, I'll explain to you why all you've put here is so terribly wrong.

Why are Moses & Elijah at the transfiguration?

I find 'because they represent the law and the prophets' unsatisfactory as an explanation - as I've said, there are greater prophets, and there are better representatives of the law. I believe that them being "witnesses" is a key to this, tho. They are present here as witnesses, too. What did...

    hi

Two things friend: 1: I have only spoken of one doctrine here thus far, the hypostatic union. So you are throwing around a lot of accusations unjustifiably, and that is abundantly clear to everyone who reads the thread. 2: if you do not believe Christ is God you cannot understand scripture...

Why are Moses & Elijah at the transfiguration?

But why specifically Moses, why specifically Elijah? Not that there are no significant metaphors to be drawn from their presence and what offices they are famous for, but if such metaphors are the primary purpose of this event, why not Aaron, the high priest? Why not Elisha, who had twice the...

Why are Moses & Elijah at the transfiguration?

This is a common explanation, that they 'represent the law and the prophets' - - but Christ said John was the greatest prophet, not Elijah - and Elisha had a double portion of what Elijah had. So i consider it an intractable explanation.

Why are Moses & Elijah at the transfiguration?

Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, led them up on a high mountain by themselves; and He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light. And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him. Then...

Scriptures that trinitarians Don't Want You to Know About - #5, Book of Acts

yes, so: Then Moses went up, also Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel, and they saw the God of Israel. And there was under His feet as it were a paved work of sapphire stone, and it was like the very heavens in its clarity. But on the nobles of the children of Israel He...

    hi

i wasn't quite sure what to give you for this, but i think this will do: Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus, Who was faithful to Him who appointed Him, as Moses also in all His house. For this One...

As I was saying friend @Addy, regarding swordsmanship, a master-stroke in the Liechtenauer tradition both parries your opponents attack and strikes him at the same time. That's an example of physical skillfulness with the sword which has a spiritual corrallary, if you catch the meaning =]...

I am a stranger here - did you welcome me? No: I asked you for help, and you called me Satan; I asked you for bread and you gave me a serpent. Does this mean you are not saved?
