We are judged by works, not by faith

@Ghada simply quoted James soooooo wouldn't it be James who declared Paul a liar? I don't see where @Ghada called Paul a liar.

Was Jesus Heretical? - Why did they crucify Him?

Yup Mr E, that is true. The Catholic Church doesn't have a very proud history of tolerance to those who oppose it's [sic] beliefs. When have I said otherwise? Which post #? What dogmatic teachings of The Church "stand in stark contradiction to previous teachings that were also held to be...

We are judged by works, not by faith

Thanks Ronald.....Now I better understand what you meant. I am not declaring that a person is justified by works ONLY. I am only repeating what Scripture says: Faith WITHOUT works is dead. That means you have to have both. I agree with Paul when he said, God will render to each one according...

Was Jesus Heretical? - Why did they crucify Him?

Hey E, Scripture says that the church is the pillar and foundation of truth. If it isn't the Catholic Church, which one is it? Curious Mary

Was Jesus Heretical? - Why did they crucify Him?

Why are you being so condescending? Have I done that to you? Curious Mary

Was Jesus Heretical? - Why did they crucify Him?

Thanks for the clarification steven! Yes, we disagree on "public declaration". I have given Scriptural evidence of both PUBLIC and PRIVATE baptisms. You only gave examples of public baptisms....but that's ok.

Was Jesus Heretical? - Why did they crucify Him?

You crack me up Steven. I looked back at all of our posts. Only YOU brought up Catholic......enough said.

Was Jesus Heretical? - Why did they crucify Him?

Lol....No, I don't have a clue what your point is. Definition 1b directly applies to the Catholic church while 1a and 1c apply to "church"...that could be any church (denomination). While 2a is in reference to ANY dominant theory, opinion, or practice. There is clarification of that right...

Was Jesus Heretical? - Why did they crucify Him?

Hey E, I apologize. You lost me on this one. I didn't insert 'contrary to the truth'. It is under #2, third sentence down. Maybe I am misunderstanding your point? Sincerely, Mary

Was Jesus Heretical? - Why did they crucify Him?

O'boy...here we go again.....adherence to a religious opinion contrary to church dogma (post #117) Jesus was heretical to orthodox Judaism (post #136) Post #120 Was 3 times not enough for you????????? hmmx1: YOU and only YOU have interjected the word Catholic into our discussion. Are you...

Was Jesus Heretical? - Why did they crucify Him?

I don't understand your "positive term" statement. Can you elaborate? Curious Mary (I do like your bumper sticker idea, very witty)

Was Jesus Heretical? - Why did they crucify Him?

Really? When was I not honest?
  16. Marymog

Was Jesus Heretical? - Why did they crucify Him?

Nope, not completely true. I only have to believe in the infallible teachings (dogma) of The Church. Do you know what they are? Also, if you reject the teachings of your church, would you be a heretic? What church is that?
  17. Marymog

Was Jesus Heretical? - Why did they crucify Him?

Lol....So when I said "not heretical to God" you equate that to "not heretical to Catholics"????????????? I'm not following your logic but you don't need to explain it....I'm Good. I can see that you want to inject my Catholic faith into our discussion when I haven't injected it at all.

We are judged by works, not by faith

Thanks CadyandZoe, I completely understand the 400-year historical teaching of Protestants. But I will happily expand on what Christianity has taught for 2,000 years and The Church still teaches. That 2,000-year teaching doesn't exclusively say, as you suggested, that "justification is...

Was Jesus Heretical? - Why did they crucify Him?

Why did you bring up the "living waters" part of baptism written about in the Didache? Why don't you agree with the writings of men that lived during the times of the Apostles, but agree with the writings of men from the Reformation (or later)?
  20. Marymog

Was Jesus Heretical? - Why did they crucify Him?

Lol....I never mentioned, suggested, implied, brought up the thought, etc that God needed to be Catholic to fit my definition. That is a suggestion that you are erroneously putting on me by asking that question and claiming it as "evidence of a narrow view". Yup, Jesus was heretical to orthodox...
