What's with this thing called THE APOCRYPHA?

The point is, the apocrypha isn't from God, but man. What man did was raise those books to inspired status at trent. Thats adding to Gods word which is a no no.

MARK 6:3 DID JESUS HAVE BROTHERS AND SISTERS ? *****

First, you misquoted the verse. If you'd cite it correctly next time, it does make a difference in its interpretation. Any believer in their respective local churches are responsible for the integrity of the bible. 2 Tim 2:15 says clearly; 2Tim 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a...

What's with this thing called THE APOCRYPHA?

No one has denied the apocrypha was included in Luthers bible or other bibles of the day. It was still considered apocryphal...i.e. not inspired scripture.

What's with this thing called THE APOCRYPHA?

Protestant apocrypha or n.t. apocrypha? List the protestant apocrypha if you would and what bibles contain them.

MARK 6:3 DID JESUS HAVE BROTHERS AND SISTERS ? *****

I don't recall Jesus establishing an institution. The ekklesia is all believers everywhere that are truly born again. Regardless of what local church they attend.

What's with this thing called THE APOCRYPHA?

They were rejected long before the reformation. Jerome in his Prefaces lists the books in the catholic o.t (apocrypha) and says they are not in the canon. This goes way back, not simply a reformation thing. Some did and for hundreds of years. Do all catholic bibles have the apocrypha in it?

What's with this thing called THE APOCRYPHA?

I'm just letting you know that the rejection of Maccabees or any of the apocrypha occurred long before the reformation, and during the reformation by catholics. You can't simply boil it down to a protestant reformation thing. Catholics love to do that but they dismiss a lot of history in the...

What's with this thing called THE APOCRYPHA?

Um, Gregory the Great, the late 6th early 7th century bishop of rome rejected maccabees. Cardinal Cajetan rejected the entire apocrypha. Those are catholics btw.

What's with this thing called THE APOCRYPHA?

Are the protestant bibles in your possession from the reformation era? You said; Which is why i asked what bible, which edition and what books? Even Luthers bible had the apocrypha for hundreds of years after Luther died. Can't blame him for that can we?

What's with this thing called THE APOCRYPHA?

Whose bible? What edition, what year and what books? Cuz Luther removed nothing. Thats the only reason i'm asking.

Since youre unable to properly cite me or track my comments honestly. Consider this the end. If and when you think you can handle a discussion thats on topic and on point let me know.

What's with this thing called THE APOCRYPHA?

Not the Douay-Rheims. The catholic church inserted the word penace 50 times! Thats not in the original greek.

What's with this thing called THE APOCRYPHA?

And? Your church ripped off Luther's bible after it was completed in 1534. And Trent was the first dogmatic expression of the canon. Who cares? No one is talking about the ethiopian jews are they? Divert much? No you haven't. Lets see it. Jerome specifically consigned your apocrypha outside of...

What's with this thing called THE APOCRYPHA?

Do you have some documentation for that? In letter 51 it was Epiphanius that asked Jerome to translate that letter written in greek to latin. If he was that incompetent why would Epiphanius do that? From letter 51 Luther mentions it in his Open Letter on Translating. The catholic church took...

What's with this thing called THE APOCRYPHA?

Must be difficult living in your world. 1. I never said your church ripped off the deuts. I said they ripped off Luthers bible, which is true. 2. I've asked for you to support your comments and i am still waiting for these gems; Provide the decrees of Rome 382 Provide support for your comment...

What's with this thing called THE APOCRYPHA?

Tell that to Jesus who expected the scribes and pharisees to know what was scripture and what wasn't. How many times did He say; haven't you read the scriptures? He wasn't talking about maccabbees! I must have missed that post. All i've seen is your opinion. Care to cite that again where jewish...

What's with this thing called THE APOCRYPHA?

All well and good, but that doesn't help the current roman catholic predicament. There was no rc scholarship in Luthers day. Which is why the rcc stole his bible and re-distributed it as their own. Also why trent had no scholars to make an educated determination of the canon they were voting on...

What's with this thing called THE APOCRYPHA?

Documentation? Didn't have to be. There was no rcc in his age. Certainly not a papacy as we see today. He was the man in the late 4th early 5th century. You talk alot, can you prove it?

What's with this thing called THE APOCRYPHA?

Lets see that decree of 382. Something other than wikipedia. Wrong. Jerome specifically rejected your apocrypha. I've posted his works verbatim several times. If you don't like it, too bad. Jerome was a hebrew scholar, prove he needed 'help' from the jews. And Jerome rejected the apocrypha...

What's with this thing called THE APOCRYPHA?

Jerome said they can be read, but not for doctrine. Which is what the rcc has done.
