The myth of grace-only & easy-believism shattered forever

Totally irrelevant to my question, it would seem. I not talking about the validity of the Bible text itself - I talking about infallibly interpreting the Bible text.

The myth of grace-only & easy-believism shattered forever

Right, so do you interpret the Bible infallibly? If not, please point me to a believer who does.

The myth of grace-only & easy-believism shattered forever

The point is not that his view is a Catholic view - the point is whether or not his argument makes sense. Judging an argument on its source, rather than its substance, is not a wise way to approach exegesis.

The myth of grace-only & easy-believism shattered forever

… and I suppose the JWs' "Bible" is an accurate and trustworthy translation too.

The myth of grace-only & easy-believism shattered forever

I was raised Catholic, but I gradually fell away from all forms of Christianity after I left school. Many years later I became interesting in Christianity again and believed the best way to learn to be a Christian was to study the Bible - but I was wrong. After becoming disillusioned with the...

The myth of grace-only & easy-believism shattered forever

Judging by the disastrous results of Sola Scriptura, Jesus prayed for dis-unity, not unity.

The myth of grace-only & easy-believism shattered forever

I choose not to dignify the unintelligent, misinformed drivel contained in that link with a response.

The myth of grace-only & easy-believism shattered forever

Really? Says who? I suspect once upon a time, someone sold you the “Sola Scriptura” fallacy and you bought it without ever questioning if it is true or not. The Scriptures are only one way God communicates with mankind and that God’s official means of communicating with mankind is through...

The myth of grace-only & easy-believism shattered forever

When Jesus said, “the gates of hell will not prevail against it” (Matt 16:18), he was clearly referring to the Church - to claim otherwise is just plain stupidity. Sorry, but your credibility as a intelligent reader of Scripture has just flown right out the window. Oh, so Jesus gave Peter the...

The myth of grace-only & easy-believism shattered forever

It certainly is God’s job, but for the sake of unity, clarity and salvation, he does it through his one, true Church (ie, the Catholic Church): “There is one body and one Spirit; as you are called in one hope of your calling. One Lord, one faith, one baptism. One God and Father of all, who...

The myth of grace-only & easy-believism shattered forever

The forgiveness of sins. The one, true Church (on earth) is make up of sinners, so of course they are not going to be perfect. A Church full of imperfect sinners doesn’t prove that that Church is not the one, true Church that was founded by Christ. Every one of the writers of the Bible was...

The myth of grace-only & easy-believism shattered forever

Jesus Christ is the Word of God; however, because the Church is the “fullness” of Christ (Eph 1:22-23), the Church is also the Word of God. You cannot separate the Head (Christ) from the body (the Church). Exactly. That is what the Catholic Church teaches. No Catholic believes he can do no...

The myth of grace-only & easy-believism shattered forever

You seem to have digressed. We’re not discussing “our future resurrected state”, but what Eph 1:22-23 means when it says the Church IS the “fullness” of Christ. That passage is not referring to the future, but what the Church is NOW - it doesn’t say the Church “will be” the fullness of Christ...

The myth of grace-only & easy-believism shattered forever

I don't think you answered my question. You obviously don't believe the CC interprets the Bible infallibly, so who does?

The myth of grace-only & easy-believism shattered forever

I'm talking about true repentance, not fake repentance for the sake of appearances. The Scriptures you quote state that no one is saved by works ALONE - none of them state that works are irrelevant to salvation. You've obviously misinterpreted them. How did you manage to get it so wrong - read...

The myth of grace-only & easy-believism shattered forever

I'm not aware of any Scripture that says every doctrine must be tested by Scripture or that Scripture provides everything we need to know.

The myth of grace-only & easy-believism shattered forever

Why did Paul consult the CHURCH to settle doctrinal matters (Acts 15:2-3) and to verify the correctness of his preaching (Galatians 2:2)?

And all the good and holy priests count for nothing? Hilarious. Are you really that gullible?

The myth of grace-only & easy-believism shattered forever

Please explain what these verses mean: "a man is justified by works and not by faith alone" (James 2:24); "faith without works is dead" (James 2:26).

The myth of grace-only & easy-believism shattered forever

Repentance is more than just a change of heart - it also involves changing one's BEHAVIOUR, ie, turning away from sin and keeping God's commandments - otherwise known as "works". Read Romans 6 and read James 2:24 - "a man is justified by WORKS and not by faith alone". True conversion requires...
