John 3:5... YES! ANOTHER BAPTISM THREAD!

    Wanna know?

John 3:5... YES! ANOTHER BAPTISM THREAD!

So are you chiding me for my fault in grammar or in my persuing a conversation that has run it's course? Either way, I accept the rebuke and agree. I have made my point, and it's time to move on.

John 3:5... YES! ANOTHER BAPTISM THREAD!

Look, my whole reason for this thread is to talk about John 3:5. I am looking to see if the water talked about in that verse is spiritual water or literal water. I brought it up because those who absolutely believe water baptism is necessary bring it up as proof it must be done. I disagree...

John 3:5... YES! ANOTHER BAPTISM THREAD!

Neither do I believe they are useless. And I agree that it is important to realize and remember what they symbolize. Prayer is "useless". Bear with me in my folly... God said he knows what we have need for before we ask... He also said he knows our heart better than we do. Giving is...

John 3:5... YES! ANOTHER BAPTISM THREAD!

Hold on... So the water is a symbol? I remember you saying that water baptism wasn't a mere symbol. I believe it is a symbol of something greater. A "mere" symbol? I do not discount that it is a powerful symbol and for whatever reason God likes symbolism. I'd just rather look at the real...

John 3:5... YES! ANOTHER BAPTISM THREAD!

I don't recall admitting I hadn't read them. The closest thing I can find is me saying this: "These verses clearly show otherwise. And I must have missed whatever scripture you gave that state they aren't exclusive." This was in response to you saying that the natural and spiritual aren't...

John 3:5... YES! ANOTHER BAPTISM THREAD!

Yes, actually he was clearly speaking of spiritual things. He got upset at Nicodemus because he didn't understand that point. (speaking of John 3:12) We're you following the conversation? You asked if spiritual and physical were exclusive. This verse shows that yes, they are. And by the...

John 3:5... YES! ANOTHER BAPTISM THREAD!

Because Jesus separated them. Jesus was clearly speaking of spiritual or heavenly water. John 3:12 KJV If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things? You can also look at 1 Cor 2:14 as well as Romans 8:8-9. Actually Jesus didn't...

John 3:5... YES! ANOTHER BAPTISM THREAD!

The context of John 3 is what I was talking about. Jesus was speaking of spiritual things, not literal. Thus, I see no context stating he was talking about literal water. As for history, I am fully aware that baptism has been a tradition from the start, and I am not against such.

John 3:5... YES! ANOTHER BAPTISM THREAD!

Except Peter. And Paul, who didn't put alot of stock in it... Oh and Jesus... He didn't water baptize anyone. Well, that's the thing... It's symbolic of that. Not the real thing. I like the symbolism, but I care for you and the thing it symbolizes more.

John 3:5... YES! ANOTHER BAPTISM THREAD!

Phillip James, if you have read my posts on other threads on baptism you will understand that I indeed believe we need to be baptized. My argument is that it doesn't occur with literal water. Yet, I have said that there is nothing wrong with it and that if you are compelled to do so, you...

John 3:5... YES! ANOTHER BAPTISM THREAD!

Yea, yea... I know! It's just that I thought it was an important point that is commonly made in all the threads. It was just easier to start a new thread. Liked your comments, by the way!

John 3:5... YES! ANOTHER BAPTISM THREAD!

Hello all, Here comes another water baptism thread for you! I'm starting another because I see this scripture coming up in all of them, and I have some things to discuss. I haven't read every post of every thread, so if someone already pointed out, my apologies. Here's the main text: John...

    The Sword Of God

This verse doesn't say the Word is a sword: it says it's sharper than one. However, Eph 6:17 does say the word is a sword. Kind of like the "in" and "of" thing you pointed out in another thread. A sword cannot separate us from the love of God (Romans 8) but God's ministers don't bear the...

    The Words "In" and "Of"

I absolutely agree! I was aware of this verse's use of the word "of" and the impact you speak of. That is, I was aware it existed but perhaps not the exact verse it occurred in. Like you said, there are verses that talk about our faith in Christ as well. In the end, the fact that this verse...

    Christian Humour

I've told this joke before on this board, but here it is again: One beautiful Sunday morning a preacher gets the urge to play golf. A bad urge! He calls the assistant Pastor and tells him he's sick and can't make it. He gives home encouragement, a few instructions and wishes him well. He...

    Boys and your naked daughters...

I work in the public school system. I am joyful that this delemnia hasn't reached my school as of yet. But I am fearful that it will come. Perhaps it has happened, but I don't see many stories in the news of individuals who have vaginas demanding access to boys locker rooms or wanting to...

    Am I wrong

That's a good point. It's one of two verses I was saving as my Aces in the whole. If water baptism is necessary, what of the thief on the cross? What of any of us who don't have access to water baptism on our deathbed?
