A dead spirit still works as your perception of reality but the connection to God is dead. It is relying on the tempter to function. The Law causes righteousness which is the connection to God, spirit.

God's Law is the same thing as a righteous spirit, which gives a different perception of this fallen reality.

There is no spirit without God's Law because Adam relinquished spiritual authority. Void of righteous perception of reality. Jews use the Law with flesh/blood. Christians use the Law with heart/blood.
