Human spirit = your perception of reality using either fallen Free Will or righteous Free Will

The lie of the tempter, that we wouldn't die, is why we are here. he represented death which equates separation from God. The tempter's lie is what leads to the illusions that disguise the spiritual. That's why Jesus said He was The Truth and The Way.

We gave our authority for the illusions of Fallen Free Will with the tempter. It allows us to sin ..to be separated from God. It gives us every excuse possible to deny God. True freedom is ignoring the illusions and allowing God in our lives.

You are giving up the illusion that Free Will grants.

You relinquish Free Will to become compatible with God.
