    Into Africa

My cousin and his family just moved to Uganda to start a ministry called Friday Night Church. There is also a push from some groups for a Pope from the US. I don't see that happening, though.

Pay Your Tithe OR Spend Eternity In Hell?

I hold great respect for the Word, and use the Word to help me discern whether I'm following the leading of Holy Spirit or something else. The Holy Spirit will always be kindred to the Word, and He will never contradict it. If He inspired the scriptures, then He would never contradict Himself...

Pay Your Tithe OR Spend Eternity In Hell?

Why are you being sarcastic? What I was trying to say is that I'm not one of those legalistic people who believe in theology only and not experiencing God, too. It's my heart's desire to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. I don't disagree with anything you said here. The only thing I can't...

Tip when starting a new job

I wish all Christians were like that. :)

Pay Your Tithe OR Spend Eternity In Hell?

I guess we shouldn't tell people to stay away from fornication, either. There are plenty of New Testament laws that we should follow. Jesus even said that if we really love Him, we will keep His commandments. Truly man-made guidelines are not required, although there is the fact that God does...

Why do we call it the RAPTURE?

Yeah, Revelation chapter 12 is a tough one to try and interpret. My view of Rev 12 is that it is a brief synopsis of the entire history of the earth from Satan's banishment when he appeared as a serpent in the beginning, to God's calling of the children of Israel, to the Savior's coming, to God...

Pay Your Tithe OR Spend Eternity In Hell?

Another big problem with the modern church is that there are a thousand different interpretations of the scriptures, and every single one thinks that they are the right way, and everyone else is wrong. I could refute everything you said, scripturally, but it would be a pointless waste of my...

Tip when starting a new job

Explaining and standing up for your beliefs is one thing. But how is it profitable to the Kingdom of God in the least for God's children to argue to the point of anger, and bashing each other? If an unbeliever came on to these forums and saw our conversations, would they be enticed to run to...

Tip when starting a new job

You gave some good advice. I think you just have some different ideas on how to let people know that you are a Christian. I agree that you should let them know with your actions first. Your words mean a lot more to people when you get to know them first, and they see you living it first. But on...

    The Christian Eschatology Forum

I kind of think the Christian Eschatology Forum needs to have the name changed or something added to the name. I'm seeing a lot of threads here in other forum sections that really should be in the Eschatology forum. I kind of wonder if a lot of people don't know what the word Eschatology means...

    Voting Up and Reputation

I've noticed that not very many posts here get voted up. :)

Tip when starting a new job

Lol. Evidently, no one needs to die to elect him pope. We'll find out if he gets the job next month. :) Good point. They should be able to see Him in us. But like you said, we shouldn't be against witnessing in the right ways when the doors of opportunity open. But what is the right and wrong...

Do you know where sin begins?

I agree that it starts in our minds. That's why 2 Cor. 10:5 tells us to "take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ". But on the other hand, it's also important to remember that temptation is not sin. It's what you do with the temptation. Temptation can't be a sin because: Heb 4:15...

Why do we call it the RAPTURE?

If you want to be technical about it, "caught up" isn't in the Bible, either. The word in the Bible is ἁρπάζω. Our word "rapture" comes from the Latin word "rapturo", which is the Latin translation of the Greek word ἁρπάζω, which is in the Bible. So "rapture" actually means "caught up".

Pay Your Tithe OR Spend Eternity In Hell?

The great thing is, the title of this thread is hogwash. This isn't one of those eternal salvation deciders. We love Jesus and trust in Him. And I totally agree with the idea that making tithe a law isn't healthy. We should be faithful and committed givers out of a loving, grateful, and obedient...

Tip when starting a new job

I think it's a great idea to let your light shine from day one. I do think there is a right and wrong way to let everyone know you're a Christian, though. It's probably not a good idea to do it in a threatening, holier-than-thou way, especially when you haven't earned the right through love to...

Pay Your Tithe OR Spend Eternity In Hell?

For the first part of your post, I know these things about my church because I'm intimately involved. I'm the pastor of my small church, and I'm the only one on staff, other than a cleaning lady. On the pastoral side of things, it's my job to know my people. But also, unfortunately, I have the...

Pay Your Tithe OR Spend Eternity In Hell?

I trust God. But people aren't God; they're not perfect, including myself. We need guidelines. If we didn't need any guidelines and everything was just following the leading of the Holy Spirit, we wouldn't need the Bible. Why do you have such a problem with having a 10% guideline and being open...

Why does God allow us to suffer and die?

I think God sees the big picture of eternity, and has to kind of force Himself to see things from our very, very limited perspective. We see that especially when the men brought the paralytic man to Jesus. The first thing that came to Jesus' mind was "your sins are forgiven". When He saw that...

Pay Your Tithe OR Spend Eternity In Hell?

I think 10% should be a given starting point, and we should listen to the Spirit of God to speak to us about giving more. There is a point to faithfulness, and discipline, too. I'm committed to being a giver, even when I don't feel like giving. 10% is a great standard to go by to be faithful...
