    Concede Now, or Concede Later.

Wow! I guess that puts you a bit over 6' yourself, judging by the proportions. I know where you mean, I caught the big fish on the boat when I was a kid there on one trip with my dad...all of 22 lbs :) It was a great trip--a boat full of CHP.

    Concede Now, or Concede Later.

And I don't think there is any question as to just how hard that is.

What the Heck is Salvation? And what are we Saved From?

Like I said, it just needs to [actually] fit the circumstances. But of course, only according to the will of God.

What the Heck is Salvation? And what are we Saved From?

That does not fit the mechanics of who and how all are raised. Which is: "some to everlasting life and some to everlasting condemnation." Only two groups. In which there is no third category for the resurrected "maybe saved, maybe not." As for the judgement, I will take liberty and say that if...

What the Heck is Salvation? And what are we Saved From?

Okay...but I detect something in there that should not be. I mean, salvation is exactly that: resurrected life in Christ, and He in us. Which, if we are raised up with Him, He is our guarantee. One cannot be partially saved any more than one can be partially pregnant...I speak of being a child...

    Concede Now, or Concede Later.

That's awesome--I mean, to have come through and being able to look back and even witness that it is good. Congratulations! Hey, where'd you get that salmon? It's huge! 40 lbs?

    Concede Now, or Concede Later.

Well said. I suppose though that, that was not the point which I had hoped to address. But more the point of contentions, claims and false claims, some of which are simply a matter of misunderstanding--which we might overcome if we take to heart that much of what may be believed is wrong...

What the Heck is Salvation? And what are we Saved From?

The righteous tenants of the principles of God have many applications. In fact pulling a godly principle out of its original context is completely biblical, and done in scripture many times--even the prophecies of Christ by David. It just needs to fit the circumstances...which is indeed rightly...

What the Heck is Salvation? And what are we Saved From?

My mistake (my own typo). I was referring to a different verse about works. As for James 2:19, the demons have decided their own fate, not wanting to come back to God. So, yes, you are correct to make the point, as it does matter that ones belief turns them to God, rather than not. Nonetheless...

What the Heck is Salvation? And what are we Saved From?

How about "saved" being past tense? Is that not so simple we should be ashamed not to understand or interpret it as such?

    Concede Now, or Concede Later.

Robert, Sorry I can't "Like" your comment. But you are exactly right, and it's most eloquently stated in scripture: Isaiah 29:9 Pause and wonder! Blind yourselves and be blind! They are drunk, but not with wine; They stagger, but not with intoxicating drink. Isaiah 6:9 And He said, “Go, and...

    Spotting Heretics

That would be like saying because the Levitical Priests set the norm long ago, that John the Baptist, Jesus, and all the apostles were heretics. Or because Jesus had first claim, the Catholics are heretics for not walking from town to town in sandals. But that is not at all how things actually...

What the Heck is Salvation? And what are we Saved From?

What? I took the time to be reasonable, concluding that salvation is defined by, and not salvation until it is total. You don't see that as legitimate and necessary?
  14. ScottA

    Concede Now, or Concede Later.

The big thing that I see missing, is the expectation that we need to be corrected--basically, as it is foretold--that we have been wrong.

What the Heck is Salvation? And what are we Saved From?

James was referring to the evidence of faith if one is given the time. But considering the salvation issue here would mean rightly dividing what pertains specifically to Israel, from that of the gentiles of the church age, as they are different sheep folds which Christ brings separately. So...

    Concede Now, or Concede Later.

Doesn't everyone want to be right about God? We do this forum stuff day in and day out and it is so rare--it happened today, that a biblical case is made against what someone believes, and you almost never hear, "Hmm, let me put that before God, maybe do a little more research." Kudos to the...

    The Soul.

No...not at all like the Father, God is spirit. Man is only created in His image. I gave you the scriptures--the word is the same for both man and animals. Since you prefer darkness, darkness it is. You're on your own.
  18. ScottA

    The Soul.

You are treating the term "soul" as a third component, which it is not. It's just God's word for would-be "life" before being born [again] of the Spirit--and it is that birth and life that makes man different. Otherwise both man and animals were made "living souls" or "beings" according to the...

What the Heck is Salvation? And what are we Saved From?

Thank you for such a rational answer. I wish more people showed as much character. As for contradictions, there really are none that don't have a rational explanation. Happy to discuss them. Incidentally, that is the model for being lead into all truth, as promised by Christ. That is, that...

    The Soul.

No...that is not biblical. I gave you the verses showing that life in the flesh is the same for both, by the same Word.
