    Why do we need priests?

What is that to you and me? Should I abandon my Lord and my brothers and sisters because some may abuse their office? Shall I take upon myself the authority of a presbyter? Jesus said the gates of hell will not prevail... the Holy Spirit will take care of it, as He always does... Peace!

    Why do we need priests?

I guess that depends on whether or not one is listening. The Holy Spririt guides the Church, as a whole, into all Truth (for we have the mind of Christ), every individual is not necessarily listening... Ordination is not a guaruntee of perfection. There's a reason Paul warned Timothy to be...

    Why do we need priests?

Hello Giuliano, The same way all heretics pop up: They start thinking their understanding is superior to the understanding of the Church. Peace be with you!

Just for....those who, well, not just for some, but for all who would love God.

Hello marks, Well I guess that depends what you mean by 'beliefs'. The Church has one mind (the mind of Christ). It has one Faith, one baptism, one Lord of all... All are in communion with a community founded by an apostle? Surely not... It's plain that many are in error, and that to...

Just for....those who, well, not just for some, but for all who would love God.

I've spent a few days mulling this over in my head, and whether I felt this way about those who have left the Catholic Church. And I would have to say no I don't feel that way. To me, a deserter would be someone who knows the Truth found in the Catholic Church, but who abandons it in the face...

Amos 3.3, a thoughtful verse: "Can two walk together, except they be agreed?"

Really? On what do you base that assertion? Rather, perhaps they understood it as the fulfillment of this: Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. Certainly Ignatius of Anticoch...

Just for....those who, well, not just for some, but for all who would love God.

Not just those of the reformation, but throughout the history of the Church there are those who taught unorthodox doctrine and left (or were forced out) the community, drawing others after them. As for the reformaton, the spirit of private judgement and rebellion that it embraced is alive and...

Who belongs to the Catholic Church? 836 "All men are called to this catholic unity of the People of God.... and to it, in different ways, belong or are ordered: the Catholic faithful, others who believe in Christ, and finally all mankind, called by God's grace to salvation Not sure how one can...

Just for....those who, well, not just for some, but for all who would love God.

Of course it MUST be. If the church as a whole has fallen into error, then the gates of hell have prevailed, and Jesus is made a liar and a false prophet. It means in commuion with a community founded by the apostles, who have faithfully passed down the One Loaf broken and given to us by...

As true worship is from the heart, I don't think any man can be 'required' to worship anyone (or anything). However it is both right and proper to adore Jesus in the Eucharist, and is a natural outcome of our growth in faith. Peace be with you!

Happy those who do not follow the counsel of the wicked, Nor go the way of sinners, nor sit in company with scoffers.

Not really, unless you were one who is hesitating to be baptized, to which I would say why wait? Peace!

We are bound by Jesus, not He by us, He pours out His grace on whomsoever He wills, Yet all who are baptized in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit are born of Him, and thus are members of His Church. Did that clarify it for you? Peace!

    Just For Catholics.

If you have been baptized into Christ, then you have been born anew, and have become a member in the One Church that Jesus founded through His apostles. What confuses you? Pax!

I liked your post, but on this point: I believe we are fully connected to the Head, and through the Head with each other especially when we celebrate Eucharist. It is from Him, through receiving Him in the Eucharist that we, together, receive the strength and the power to walk more fully in Him...

    Help

@Nancy I'm glad to see you've received so much encouragement. I will just add that's ok to be mad at God sometimes and to tell Him so, to tell Him that you don't understand... Because HE does understand, even when we don't... All things work for the good of those who love God, even if we...

Yes. 1Pet 2:16-21 Be free, yet without using freedom as a pretext for evil, but as slaves of God. Give honor to all, love the community, fear God, honor the king. Slaves, be subject to your masters with all reverence, not only to those who are good and equitable but also to those who are...

Presbyters who preside well deserve double honor, especially those who toil in preaching and teaching. Peace!
