    Devoted Service

I was referring to the different rendering of the entire passage. They do not express the same thought, i.e. God opposing the enemy, which thought I fail to see presented in the modern versions.

    Devoted Service

I agree and I think I know what you mean, but it depends of what translation used, as this passage has been too interpolated in the modern versions to render the actual meaning, which doesn't even resemble the designed intention of a "flood" coming in against the "enemy." What do you think...

“For Me to Live is Christ” (Phil 1:21)

Amen, this is son-ship in Christ with the Father.

    Devoted Service

The most effective service is to stand openly for God when the opposition is at its height. “When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him” (Isa 59:19). To stand for God when there is no one to help, when everyone is opposing, manifests my...

“For Me to Live is Christ” (Phil 1:21)

I believe one of the best ways "the Spirit bears witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God" (Rom 8:16) is that the "work" of God in us to please Him (Phl 2:13) is always the greatest desire we have. Blessings!

“For Me to Live is Christ” (Phil 1:21)

This is true when the time comes! Mat 7:21, 22.

“For Me to Live is Christ” (Phil 1:21)

True! Many within Christendom still attempt to mix law with grace, which is about the same as Israel's wilderness-wanderings. This can only frustrate both systems, as neither are meant to exist simultaneously (Judaeo-Christian?!), nor can each draw from one another in their workings. I believe...

“For Me to Live is Christ” (Phil 1:21)

“I live by the faith of the Son of God.” Meaning, not that faith which Christ, as man, had, but that of which He is the Author and Object, by which the just man lives; not upon it, for the believer does not live upon any of His graces, no, not upon faith, but by faith upon Christ, the Object...

    Our Father’s Hand

Amen, "with the feelings of our infirmities," but thankfully not with the nature of our spirit.

    Our Father’s Hand

    You too and God bless!

    Our Father’s Hand

It’s commonly known that nobody can avoid the problems of this life, but what is uncommon is knowing that those who are reborn can avoid allowing problems to escalate into “trouble” (Jhn 14:1, 27). If our walk is in obedience to His command here, it will manifest we are exercising our faith in...

    Work-less Walk

Note: It's my opinion that the intention of the title of this article does not mean the Christian's walk will be without works, but rather that the obtaining of salvation is without works, and that any works intended otherwise are work-less (vain labor). Scripture often plainly testifies that...

    Position & Path

You may have heard, that religion is often merely a nonspiritual attempt to reach God in his own way and understanding, unlike Christianity which is God reaching man.

    Personal Righteousness

Hi and thanks for your instructional reply! The phrase "work out" is as you say, similar to figuring out a math equation which has already been solved (work out of). Blessings!

    Personal Righteousness

Isn't the only "pressing" to do now for the believer toward being more like the Lord Jesus, by appropriating what we already possess in Him (1Pe 1:3). Also, if our communicating is beginning to bother you too much I would recommend a break.

    Personal Righteousness

I think we both have the same goal in putting God first. We just have different understandings concerning some Bible doctrine. Concerning sanctification and holiness, these are complete in us at rebirth as our being saved, for they do not admit in degrees. But learning to "walk in the Spirit" as...

    Personal Righteousness

I see sanctification and holiness as the same attributes because at rebirth a believer is as holy and sanctified as they will ever be. Some see sanctification as some kind of process (of what I don't know), but there are no scriptural usages of this term to support this concept (one time event...

    Personal Righteousness

If this passage is interpreted to mean salvation is obtained by works, there are no Scriptural passages to support it. The proper meaning here is that salvation is shown by the works, i.e. work out of your salvation: "Work to show your salvation" NLT Same for the meaning of James 2:24 "by works...

    Personal Righteousness

Where can there be an absence of assurance in anything for those reborn? To me the only cooperation there can be with God is that in yielding to Him as much as He works in us to do so (Phl 2:13). Being reborn, the believer has "all things that pertain unto life and godliness" (2Pe 1:3), which...

    Position & Path

Thanks for the input FAR! Yes, the writings of J N Darby, being "the father of Dipensationalism," are probably some of the most used teachings in spiritual growth. I find it interesting how God still works the most within the least amount of individuals! I see the concept of us presently...
