When will the earth be 6,000 years old?

You are using the levitical calendar. When the Jews escaped slavery in Egypt, Moses/God set that up as the first year. (No year zero kinda sets that count to be slightly off but since now it's 5,700+ years....it's quibbling over insignificant sums) Then there's all the "time" that came...

    Can the Bible contain mistakes?

I love the book and article you just referenced. It has footnotes of cited sources and documentation. And I just bought the book on Amazon to add to my library. https://www.thegospelcoalition.org/themelios/article/the-chicago-statement-on-biblical-inerrancy/ Here's another link that gives a...

    Christians who hate Israel

Okay.... Huge difference between the title and your question. Jews, as a race or religion and individuals i have no quarrel with. As a nation however, they leave a LOT to be desired. Believe it or not...they have been influenced by their Arab neighbors way too much and the older Jews in...

Democrats got their shutdown, but they just gave Trump and DOGE a big win | Opinion

Between Judicial activism and over-reach as well as the worst Congress for inactivity of any Congress in history (except for insider trading) and we have a lousy government.

Democrats got their shutdown, but they just gave Trump and DOGE a big win | Opinion

I expect that the shutdown will end in the next couple of days. Either Democrats will capitulate or Republicans will override the filibuster for a CR. I do NOT expect a real budget until AFTER mid-terms.

    NYC election system sounds corrupt

I'm not so sure voting works even when the system is not rigged like it has been. Our current Government shutdown is evidence that it doesn't work.

Is your faith defined by what you DON'T believe? - The anti-doctrinal stance

I just read a summary that refuted that. Even the Temptation Trial of Jesus. Kinda interesting in how it was laid out. I can't stop looking even if I wanted to. Curiosity, cats, and Satisfaction.....

    Who Do You Believe?

@Lambano Heres a more detailed list of going about proving resources and hypotheses. not easy stuff to accomplish. Ive done this before and its very time consuming to the point your head stays in the clouds...which is why i dont do it so much anymore.

Is your faith defined by what you DON'T believe? - The anti-doctrinal stance

Meeting Satan while taking a strong hallucinogenic drug.... Kinda suspect. Gotta do better than "N>1". AKA anecdotal evidence....not that it's completely discounted but....it's really suspect. I'm not convinced either direction.... BOTH positions have merit. I've seen nothing definitive...

    Who Do You Believe?

Finally Possibly create a chart that you list your references on. Give numerical value for various aspects of reliability....Possibly with notes about limitations. About your selected interest topic.... Research the counter to it. If researching "humility" research what constitutes...

    Who Do You Believe?

Examining the contents: Bias and Perspective Ideological Slant? What Church do they represent and is it relevant to the topic? Tone of Article or Book. Is it full of absolutes? Finger pointing? Conspiracy theories? (Not the same as going against the grain as some common thoughts). Fear...

    Who Do You Believe?

Back to the main Topic..... Accuracy and Evidence Primary or Secondary: Always prefer original data not third party regurgitated summaries, look for experiments and results (correlation is not causation) and of course Documents and documentation.  Citations: who are they quoting? Are...

    Who Do You Believe?

Correct... What I'm trying to describe is the process for determining fact from fiction in the resource world. It seems that today there are millions of books discussing theological viewpoints and opinions about God....which ones are true and which ones are not? Sure scriptures are true but...

    Who Do You Believe?

It's not exactly a logical fallacy... It's arguing from the general to the specific. Most all mothers love their children... So to assume that your mother loved you is not projecting....it's a logical conclusion. Which is yet another step I'll explain in another post.
  15. JohnDB

    Who Do You Believe?

Accuracy and Evidence That your mother loved you? Ummmm....how is that rude?

    Who Do You Believe?

Your Mamma had a bias. Her whole overriding bias was for your benefit and that you grew up happy, healthy, and whole. (Even if spankings left you to suspect that bias). She would be a very trusted source for intentions.

    Who Do You Believe?

But, I'm listing a resource for people to use for themselves as to the resources they use. In today's world with so much garbage and outright lies being told on innocuous topics because for whatever reason they believe it helps their political position. So this is how it's done....

    Who Do You Believe?

Continued from above.... Was their research peer reviewed by KNOWLEDGEABLE professionals? (Not others from the new janitorial staff Bob is a part of) all names must appear on LinkedIn, ORCID or have high ranking positions in an academic career from a reputable university...

    Who Do You Believe?

3rd Step Who wrote this book, article, research paper? Are they on ORCID? Do they have a reputation for bias? What other articles and books they have written? Do they have a reputation for being neutral or having a bias towards their long held views. Who paid for the research? Sugar...
