Is your faith defined by what you DON'T believe? - The anti-doctrinal stance

Your verses leave several closed doors available for me. "Faith OF Jesus" vs "faith IN Jesus". "Justification, Sanctification, Glorification. "imputed, declared, CREDITED righteousness vs. BEING (walking) in 'imparted' righteousness. And all of these above terms pertain to the progressive...

Is your faith defined by what you DON'T believe? - The anti-doctrinal stance

I really can't answer this. I just know that when I was trying to answer Lambano's post #61, according to the the "gift" of God , it never lined up with the fundamental rule of Greek grammar which I already knew, but was having difficulty applying it to these 2 verses. I actually went online...

Is your faith defined by what you DON'T believe? - The anti-doctrinal stance

I don't know your Greek expertise, but I did find this rather lengthly debate tonight, and offer it as a reason to maybe reconsider your opinion on Eph 2:8. The website was definitely beyond any degree where I would feel comfortable arguing. The quote below was from post #14...

Is your faith defined by what you DON'T believe? - The anti-doctrinal stance

Thanks Jay, for your kind suggestion. I tried that before on my normal online Greek Interlinear URL (Scripture4All - Greek/Hebrew interlinear Bible software). It looks 'similar' to your above. But when I pasted my URL here, it comes out like this below. Which is a mess to read IMO. And I'm...

Is your faith defined by what you DON'T believe? - The anti-doctrinal stance

Lambano, I know this is hard to read, and it was a pain to type. But what I did type twice yesterday did not send as pasted, after I hit POST. Below is the URL for the website I used to parse Eph 2:8. https://www.greekbible.com/ephesians/2/8 line 1 is literal line 2 is Greek and line 3...

Is your faith defined by what you DON'T believe? - The anti-doctrinal stance

That was the same question I asked myself. I just did a search on 'etymology of metric' and it sounds like the answer is definitely a yes for both the Greek and French word roots for 'metric'. So I am still of the opinion that we are not talking about a floating measurement of a meter or...

Is your faith defined by what you DON'T believe? - The anti-doctrinal stance

I am still of the opinion that it is the same measure that anyone who comes to be born again gets. The definition seems pretty cut and dried to me. 3358 metron: a measure ("metre"), literally or figuratively.; by implication a limited portion (degree) And nobody has the faith to believe until...

Jesus is the Son of his God

How do you explain it? I've never done so with a Muslim. And the only Jew I know, who gives me credit for her coming to the Lord, did so because of the questions I asked when I found out she was raised as a real Jew (her folks started Samsonite luggage). I never knew a born/raised Jew before...

Is your faith defined by what you DON'T believe? - The anti-doctrinal stance

I can relate to how they feel toward "Christians". And it comes from how 'so called' "Christians" here, treat others who are also spirit-filled believers. :quitit

Is your faith defined by what you DON'T believe? - The anti-doctrinal stance

All the translations I've checked say "measure of faith", which you said you like. But some translations say "the measure.." and some say "a measure...". Your #25 posted Greek interlinear actually added an (a) in their literal interpretation of the word 3358 metron. But the koine Greek only...

Is your faith defined by what you DON'T believe? - The anti-doctrinal stance

You've thrown this 'bobber and bait' out for the 3rd time since last year....I'm going to nibble a bit this time. Hope you're OK with that. hlo It's recently been said here that; Do you agree with that statement, doctrine, opinion???? Whatever it is? I am going to say No, IN MY OPINION...

Does the Bible contradict itself? - Reader Poll (and discussion)

Then I would appreciate that you'd defend that position like I did with my quote of chapter 2:4. I will also recommend that you google "Two accounts of Creation" and discredit every reference to the issue that real theologians have argued about for centuries. I first studied it about 30 (?)...

Does the Bible contradict itself? - Reader Poll (and discussion)

Only in the first account of creation was everything declared "very good" 1:31. In the second account of creation starting in Chapter 2:4 things changed with verse 2:18 because "the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; That is not a 'totally' true statement. When I left...

Bibliolatry: Worship/knowledge of the book MORE than the author

Getting back to the OP title for this thread 2,331 posts back..... Bibliolatry: Worship/knowledge of the book MORE than the author ....and then jumping to where I first joined in at post 2,284 concerning the very definition of: "Christian", "Christ", "Jesus the Christ", "Jesus Christ", "Christ...

Bibliolatry: Worship/knowledge of the book MORE than the author

I took your "quotes" in to consideration. Then I expanded the quotes for the whole phrase...which made more sense for my answer. I would answer your question as; There was no Logos (the Word) when Jesus "returned" to heaven. Because the Logos/Word was spirit/God when it left heaven but became...

Bibliolatry: Worship/knowledge of the book MORE than the author

I need clarification. When you say "when Jesus returned to heaven", are you talking about when his "flesh"/body died on the cross and was in the tomb for 3 days, and the holy spirit of Christ which was in "Jesus the Christ" went to the Father in heaven? Or are you asking when Jesus was taken...

Bibliolatry: Worship/knowledge of the book MORE than the author

Christ wasn't the Word to begin with. GOD was the Father, Word, Holy Spirit. There was no 'Christ spirit' until 'the Holy Spirit' of GOD gave birth to the very first spirit, which was "before the foundation of the world/kosmos." Eph 1:4 Joh 17;5, 17:24 JOH 3:6 That which is born of the flesh...

Bibliolatry: Worship/knowledge of the book MORE than the author

I am not separating "the Word" from "the Christ the Saviour". The Word gave up being 'invisible spirit' to become the visible "flesh" body of Jesus. The Holy Spirit of God then put the spirit of Christ into that "word became FLESH" body. Then, Jesus the Christ would have a WORD/GOD BODY that...

Bibliolatry: Worship/knowledge of the book MORE than the author

Agreed. Agreed. Problem for me starts now, with 'what is written'. By you, and scripture. I believe you are taking Joh 5:39 out of context. The literal Greek of vs 39 isn't saying there IS LIFE in the written. It is written "Ye think" but the understanding there is 'Ye are thinking...

Does the Bible contradict itself? - Reader Poll (and discussion)

We visited that 4 years ago. Our family has come to Branson every year since 1972. The motel called the newspaper and they did an interview and article on us 3 yeas ago on our 50 anniversary. We are in intermission for the play David right now with 23 family members.
