    The Godhead, Diversified Oneness

I'm with you on wanting unity. I've read a few books of the Trinity and on Providence and realized that some folks are not talking about the same God .. and so we are NOT "one Lord, one faith, one baptism," Eph 4:5. But your thought is totally untethered from the doctrines I've read about...

Abraham was not saved by faith alone

    1) Psa 34:18 — "The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart, and saves such as be of a contrite spirit." Yes, God seeks repentance and will save those who do. You have the totally wrong idea of repentance and I don't even know if it is worth my time to show you why. But here goes...

    Regarding the Holy Ghost

Yes, it is the Spirit, the one essence of God, that is omnipresent. However, the Spirit is not what you think it is. It is, according to Prov 8, the wisdom of God which can be seen in creation (cf. Ro 1:20). The Father is "all truth" — all wisdom. The Father sent His Son into the earth to...

    Regarding the Holy Ghost

You are correct in saying that there is one Spirit that is the essence of all 3 persons of the Godhead — Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. They are persons, though, because they each have bodies (Father, Rev 4:2-3; Holy Ghost, the pre-incarnate/post-resurrection Christ; and the God-man Jesus)...

    Paul and Faith Alone…

Try thinking of repentance like the Bible does. Isa 55:7 — "Let the wicked turn from his thoughts and the unrighteous from his ways…" Repentance is a commitment to turn from your sin nature and sin guilt to God's divine nature and righteousness. When you do this, God gives you His Holy Ghost...

    Regarding the Holy Ghost

It's Holy Ghost for the 3rd Person, BoL. The Holy Ghost comes forth only from the Father. The Holy Spirit is the word of God that comes from the Father and the Son and the Holy Ghost — and even from men who have the Holy Ghost. I hope you realize what you are doing. You are conflating Holy...

    Regarding the Holy Ghost

Mainly Calvinists, sad to say. They claim salvation by faith alone and criticize anyone who has repented as believing in salvation by "works." skypair

    Regarding the Holy Ghost

EXACTLY!! And when He became flesh, He was the "Light." :) So get this: The Father sent forth the Word, Holy Ghost, in the pre-incarnate body of the Son which is really the body of God. Then the Holy Ghost, Word, overshadowed Mary and the Spirit (which creates everything out of nothing)...

Abraham was not saved by faith alone

We owe our repentance to God and our faith to Christ. In Job 33:26, you may see where I got "pray to God." Lk 18:13 is a real situation of the real sinner repenting to God. This may not be your experience and I can understand that. But for me, it worked like "grace." :) skypair

    Paul and Faith Alone…

Obviously no one who believes the Bible would say that, Jn 7:39. But no one can say He is Lord unless they have obeyed the gospel (Acts 2:38, 1Cor 12:3) True. And the heart of the lost person is "deceitful and desperately wicked," right? So even though one claims to be a Christian, they will...

    Paul and Faith Alone…

Right on! EXACTLY what I am saying! Many theologies have folks do all kinds of works and some say "do nothing." Just believe what they do and you'll be saved. I hope this is what you are saying. skypair

Abraham was not saved by faith alone

How about Acts 20:21 — "Testifying both to the Jews, and also the Greeks, repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ." How about Job 33:27-28 — "And if anyone shall say [to God], 'I have sinned and perverted that which is right and it profited me not.' Then God will keep his...

Abraham was not saved by faith alone

I am certain that I don't understand this concept — "exercising faith" — that you are talking about. My understanding has alway been that repentance is an act of faith. Does that mean it is not a "work?" skypair

    Paul and Faith Alone…

This is true only if the Father elected only certain people and the death, resurrection, and resurrection of His Son was simply a "sideshow." God just gives the Spirit to whom He will and there is nothing that the "elect" can do or not do for himself. Belief is the point at which we change our...

    Paul and Faith Alone…

First, it is important to make the distinction between belief (simple assent or agreement) and faith (complete trust in). When a person hears the gospel, they either believe (agree) or disbelieve (in which case, they do away). If one believes the gospel, then one is commanded to repent and...

Abraham was not saved by faith alone

Doesn't matter .. if Abraham hadn't done what you KNOW he had to do, there would be no Isaac. So you're saying that Noah "became heir of righteousness that is by faith" through what he had done (Heb 11:7) but Abraham didn't even though he left Ur by faith (11:8)? Needless to say, I don't think...

Abraham was not saved by faith alone

This is speaking of the tribulation on the earth and that those who didn't obey the gospel will be left behind to suffer. Later in the epistle, 2:10-12, he says that some who "received not the love of the truth" will convert at last but perish (I happen to think that they will all be martyred)...

    Paul and Faith Alone…

There is a difference between confession and repentance. We confess all the time letting God know that we know we have sinned and asking for His help to correct the problem. We also are asking for His mercy on the earthly consequences of the sin until He gives us the strength to overcome the...
