    Doctrine of Predestination

Ok, BF. We'll pick it up on another day.

    Doctrine of Predestination

An old man once told me that Solomon in his great wisdom told us to search for knowledge/truth as buried treasure. Then he took my Bible out of my hand and asked me if I knew how to search. Then he turned to Proverbs 1:23, "Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you...

    Doctrine of Predestination

Christ was specifically calling out the hypocrisy of the Pharisees in not being able to hear His words. All who will not hear His words have a reason why they can't hear, it's called unbelief in one form or another. They hear the words as in the words being said, but they don't hear in the...

    Doctrine of Predestination

I pointed out the conversation in John 8 being with the Pharisees because Christ was showing them up for who they were. They were imposters pretending to be men of God. They had no true heart for the things of God, they were genuine hypocrites. Christ told them they could not hear His words...

    Doctrine of Predestination

"Chose them to believe before He created them." Those are not the words of the Scripture, they are the words of BF.

    Doctrine of Predestination

We who have believed the Gospel were chosen before the world was created to be conformed in the image of Christ. God knew who would believe before He created them! Man who would believe was chosen to God's plan of redemption, being conformed to the image of Christ by grace through faith...

    Doctrine of Predestination

You do understand Christ was speaking to the Pharisees? I know you do because we've been over this before. If anyone in Israel had a heart for God it should have been the Pharisees, the religious leaders. They perverted the Law to their expectations and their desires, they were telling Christ...

    Doctrine of Predestination

Jonah still had a choice to disobey God! Jonah was a believer, a stubborn one just as we are at times. God knew what it would take to bring him around.

    Doctrine of Predestination

In 2 Thes. 2:13-14 it's not who will be saved, it's the manner in which we are saved. We were chosen to salvation before the foundation of the world a certain way, that way is by the sanctifying of the Spirit through the belief of the truth. Do you see it? It's being chosen for a certain way...

    Doctrine of Predestination

They could not hear Him because they had no desire for the things of God. We've been through this! These are Pharisees Christ is speaking to, they were the religious leaders of Israel but their desires were of themselves, not the things of God. The reason they could not hear His words.

    Doctrine of Predestination

The box I'm in is the one the apostle Paul put me in. Paul plainly says in Rom. 10:16 that not all have obeyed the Gospel. They have heard, but they chose not to believe. Is it possible you are misunderstanding the Sovereignty of God?

    Doctrine of Predestination

Those that have chosen to believe the Gospel are the Chosen. They were predestined before the foundation of the world to be conformed in the image of Christ. They met the condition God demands to escape the wrath to come.

    Doctrine of Predestination

I believe man is totally depraved, that's clear from Scripture. Where I disagree with my Calvinist friends is that "the hearing of the Gospel of Jesus Christ" is what breaks that barrier by the power of the Holy Spirit. Christ told us that when He left this earth He would send the Comforter...

    Word of faith movement

Kenneth Copland is one of the main characters in the WOF. He said that Christ went to Hell, suffered there and was born-again. I believe this above and beyond just heresy!

    Doctrine of Predestination

We certainly have our differences. I see God setting the stage for man to exercise His God-given free will from the very beginning. If God wanted robots He would do the choosing, but He left that choice to each individual to chose for themselves. "Whosoever will let him come..."

    Doctrine of Predestination

"God sometimes factors in our desires and will?" We only have to go back to the Garden of Eden to see that God honors mans decision to obey or disobey Him. The decision to obey God in repentance today is the exact same for us as it was for Adam and Eve.

    Doctrine of Predestination

We were "chosen in Him" before the foundation of the world. Who is Him? We were chosen by the Father to be in Christ (Him) before the foundation of the world. That was the plan, not a predestination of who would be saved, but how we would be saved. For what purpose? Rom. 8:29 "For whom he...

    Doctrine of Predestination

What does vs. 5 actually mean, BF? "Having predestined us unto the adoption of children BY Jesus Christ to Himself." We were predestined to the adoption BY Jesus Christ. Does that sound like a plan to you? A plan before the foundation of the world that man who believes will be adopted into...

    Faith alone

The apostle Paul is the only author of Scripture that tells us directly how to be saved, the rest are illustrations of some being saved and not a direct explanation as the great apostle gives us. Concerning the role works have in our salvation, he says, Rom. 11:6 "And if by grace, then is it...

    Christians who hate Israel

I understand what you're saying. God didn't ask us to approve of Israel in their state of unbelief, but He did ask us to pray for them. Paul said they (Israel) are enemies of the Gospel but beloved of the Father. He is not finished with Israel, Paul said God's calling of Israel is not subject...
