I pointed out the conversation in John 8 being with the Pharisees because Christ was showing them up for who they were.
Doesnt matter, mans nature is the same in all men by nature, his desires are for the fulfilling of the flesh not God. Jesus could say that about and to anyone at any time and place if they are unregenerate.

Christ was specifically calling out the hypocrisy of the Pharisees in not being able to hear His words.

All who will not hear His words have a reason why they can't hear, it's called unbelief in one form or another.

They hear the words as in the words being said, but they don't hear in the sense of believing the words.

There are many who have no desire for the truth for several different reasons, they are the ones "ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth."

An old man once told me that Solomon in his great wisdom told us to search for knowledge/truth as buried treasure.

Then he took my Bible out of my hand and asked me if I knew how to search.

Then he turned to Proverbs 1:23,

"Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you."

That's if we really want to hear the truth.

Fact about Gods predestination:

The eventual goal of God in predestination is His Glory in Christ—note the words “my counsel, my pleasure”. His counsel from before the world was made was to glorify Himself as God in Christ. To exalt and glorify his dear Son in the salvation of chosen sinners.

Isa 46:9-10

9 Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,

10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:

Salvation in Christ is according to His counsel and His pleasure Eph 1:11

In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

Eph 1:5,9

Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself: 15

Calvin taught that there is nothing one can do to be saved because God has already decided who is going to be saved and who is not going to be saved. John Calvin twisted the meaning of Ephesians 1:4-5.

His interpretation of these two verses caused him to ask, “Does this passage teach that our salvation is strictly a matter of God’s arbitrary election before the world was made, irrespective of any choice that we might exercise in the matter?”

According to John Calvin, this passage teaches exactly that. The Presbyterian Westminster Confession of Faith stated: “By decree of God, for the manifestation of His glory, some men and angels are predestined unto everlasting life, and others foreordained to everlasting death.” (Article III).

Thus, we have the damnable heresy of predestination. This doctrine is at the core of Calvinism and its influence is widely felt throughout much of christendom and has influenced people that claim to not be calvinists.
Calvin was a Stoic or a Fatalist. As such it influenced his writings. He was also strongly influence by Augustine who was a Neoplatonist. His teachings on Predestination are based on these flawed assumptions. He takes Scripture out of context, as do those who follow his teachings. The modern doctrine of Predestination is not a Biblical idea. The doctrine of Predestination in the Scriptures pertains to Israel. It is the nation of Israel that was Predestined. They weren't predestined to be save. They were predestined to be the people through whom the Messiah would come. Calvinists argue that the doctrine is about people being saved before the foundation of the world. Armenians argue that God looked down though the corridors of time and chose those who would believe. Neither of these concepts are found in Scripture. It's just another case of people cherry-picking Scripture to suit their theological persuasions

Jesus Christ died for Chosen sinners, His Bride, according to Gods predestination Acts 2:23
