Only Those Who Do the Will of God Will Enter the Kingdom

It is not "proper" to conclude what Jesus is teaching in Matthew 7 by jumping over to John 6. You're agreeing with me that good works are necessary for justification on that day, you're just saying "good deeds automatically happen if you really believe", correct?

Only Those Who Do the Will of God Will Enter the Kingdom

If you want to know what I said, just read what I said : I'm ridiculing your ridiculous approach to the text. In context, He taught a bunch of standards, and He caps it off by saying "Do what I say, don't just emptily call Me 'Lord'--if I'm your Lord, then act like it and obey." As I showed...

Only Those Who Do the Will of God Will Enter the Kingdom

Again, it comes down to HOW, because believing Gentiles who neither have nor know the Law are deemed "doers of the Law" who will be justified. How did they do that? By the old covenant way of the letter, or by the new covenant way of the spirit? The text tells us : "though not having the law...

Only Those Who Do the Will of God Will Enter the Kingdom

As long as you're not arguing we are as Christians to learn and walk by Torah--your "approach" seems ambiguous.

Only Those Who Do the Will of God Will Enter the Kingdom

"Let me show you how to understand Matthew 7... it's WAAAAAYYYYYYYY over here, in a completely different book." Lol But, hey, if you want to quote John without having to reconcile John with John, let me do the same : John 5:28...those who have DONE good to the resurrection of life, and those...

Only Those Who Do the Will of God Will Enter the Kingdom

Every orthodox Christian on this forum will affirm the words of Paul, "neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but keeping God's commands;" the point where they will differ is the MEANS whereby that occurs : if God's plan for serving Him in the ew Covenant was "oldness of...

Not Under Law, But Under Grace

There is a New Covenant, unlike the one made before--writing not on stone but on peoples' hearts and minds, causing people to do His will by putting His Spirit in them. Maybe this is the connection with Pentecost : traditionally, this was when the "fiery Law" was given at Sinai, but, also, now...

    Yup perfect

Not Under Law, But Under Grace

He mentions "do not covet" (Ro 7:7), so, yes, "the big 10".
  10. GracePeace

Not Under Law, But Under Grace

Yes! Romans 8:3 ...the Law, weakened through the flesh... Galatians 3:3 ...being perfected by the flesh? Turning to the Law is turning to the flesh, because It is for those who are in the flesh, and shows them their sin so they cry for a deliverer from their slavery--it isn't for those in Christ.

Not Under Law, But Under Grace

Amen! The flesh and the Law are inseparable (Ro 7:1-6, 8:3; Gal 3:3)--but the flesh is evil--so turning to the Law is turning to the flesh. That's the problem with the Law.

Not Under Law, But Under Grace

Or even if not explicitly "under Law" (bc it's not as though all those you describe are trying to obey Moses), it's just as bad, because they nevertheless do not have the grace intended.
  13. GracePeace

Not Under Law, But Under Grace

I really see this as important : boasting in Christ, no confidence in flesh, because your boast is what you have confidence in.
  14. GracePeace

Not Under Law, But Under Grace

God gave Christ as the New Covenant, "Not like the Covenant I made with your fathers", so how can we fulfill the New Covenant obligations if we're not looking in to the simplicity of devotion to the New Covenant, Christ, but are, instead, led astray and away from Him Who called us by a false...
  15. GracePeace

Not Under Law, But Under Grace

Yup, not our own righteousness from the Law, but God's apart from the Law, yet God's righteousness apart from the Law still fulfills the righteous requirement of the Law is us (Ro 8:4), and we will be justified in the future judgment of works (Ro 2:6-16) if that is how we serve and please God...
  16. GracePeace

Not Under Law, But Under Grace

Yeah, it's sad, bc "the Commandments are good and holy and spiritual", so people say "You must do them!", and they are right that we must do them, and, yet, it's a trap because they don't go far enough--they don't admit "there is no good in me" (from which I might bring forth "good" to satisfy...

Not Under Law, But Under Grace

Spot on! "...not like the Covenant I made with your fathers..." : "I will put My Spirit on you and cause you to walk in My Statutes", "serve not in the oldness of the letter but in newness of the Spirit", "it is God at work in you to will and to do for His pleasure". If people are pleasing Him...

Not Under Law, But Under Grace

Yup, Gentile believers who don't have or know Torah (Ro 2:14, 7:1) are deemed "doers of the Law" (Ro 2:6-16, 26, 27) bc the New Covenant is that God puts His Spirit in believers and causes them to walk in His statutes (Ezekiel), as "God Is Our Righteousness" (Jer 23:6) "apart from the Law" (Ro...

Not Under Law, But Under Grace

If you want to disagree with something I've said, please use the quote feature--as it is, I can't tell what you're differing with, since what I said was the righteousness requirement of the Law is fulfilled in us when we walk by the spirit (Ro 8:4), bc we bear the fruit thereof (Gal 5), against...
