Book of Daniel - Relevant time periods

You completely ignore the text and decide there is a 5th kingdom and you know very well that Daniel and later Gabriel do not speak of, mention or infer a 5th kingdom. Just because you cut / paste a verse does not prove anything. It is so clear that both Daniel and Gabriel have specifically...

Book of Daniel - Relevant time periods

Absolutely not. This is literally all in your head. God specifically identified Babylon as the first, then another AFTER him, then He literally called out a 3rd and a 4th. That was it. If there was a 5th, He would have said so AFTER verse 40, and, He would have said so in 7 and 8. YOU have...

Book of Daniel - Relevant time periods

Verses 37 to 40 specifically tell us there are 4 kingdoms. Does verse 39 mention “a 3rd kingdom?” Does verse 40 mention “a 4th kingdom?” Do you see anywhere in Chapter 2 7 or 8 ANY mention of a 5th kingdom?

Book of Daniel - Relevant time periods

Common knowledge? What kind of a statement is that? If you look at “today’s accepted interpretations” for most of Daniel, there are at least two separate interpretations by the scholars, academics and theologians! And Caesar is not found in Daniel.

Book of Daniel - Relevant time periods

I provided you the verses and u told you that 32 and 33 revealed that he 4 kingdoms.. Further, I told you that Daniel specifically labeled them as “dream sequence” verses. The verses you are referring too are not “dream sequence” verses but are referred to as “interpretation sequence” verses...

Book of Daniel - Relevant time periods

Dougg, I answered your question regarding the 4 kingdoms and the verses where I pulled them from in Daniel.. I think we should pick up there -- you say 5 and I say 4... Let's try and get through this easy part of Chapter 2

Book of Daniel - Relevant time periods

Jay, I thank you for taking the time to respond.... I don't see anything in your interpretations that comes out of Daniel. Sorry.

Book of Daniel - Relevant time periods

First, there is no need to bring in the discussion of the 2300 days since that is in Chapter 8. It is difficult to just try and make it through Chapter 2... so let's keep with th 4 kingdom's discussion.... for now. Secondly, please to not tell me or anyone what to think or not to think ---

Book of Daniel - Relevant time periods

You are correct. It does not name Rome, but it certainly gives us all the characteristics and attributes of Rome. It was the kingdom that was affiliated with iron weapons. It crushed everything in its path. It was the next great after Greece. It was the kingdom in place at the time the 70 weeks...

Daniel's Final "one week" of Daniel 9:27 Made Simple

Dougg, this is before the Jews returned to Jerusalem… not after he cross.

Daniel's Final "one week" of Daniel 9:27 Made Simple

No, these are the people that went into exile to Babylon and would return to Jerusalem BEFORE the arrival of Jesus on the first day of the 70th week prophecy. That is what the 70 weeks prophecy is all about - their return to Jerusalem.

Daniel's Final "one week" of Daniel 9:27 Made Simple

The The fig tree parable has nothing to do with the 70 weeks of years prophecy… why would you bring in that when Daniel specifically tells us who, when, where the restoration of the Jews and the city will take place ?

Book of Daniel - Relevant time periods

Dougg, the “dream sequence” verses provide the 4 kingdoms- verses 32 and 33. And verse 36 confirmed they are the “dream sequence” verses.

Book of Daniel - Relevant time periods

Dougg, the 4 and only 4 kingdoms are the same as yours, and I provided the two verses in Chapter 7 that confirms there are only 4 in Chapter 2. Your 5th is part of the 4... you can not ignore (7:3, 17). And Daniel specifically tells us in verse 36 they (31-35) are the "dream sequence" of...

Book of Daniel - Relevant time periods

Jay, thank you for your detailed response. If you do not mind, I would respectfully ask that you too might participate in this process so we can all provide their interpretations..... but in a slow and methodical view. This "process" will only focus on Chapter 2 in Daniel for now.

Book of Daniel - Relevant time periods

Great... now here are the two sections or types of verses that I have found it necessary to distingush... (this took so long because when I attempted to interpret the later chapters in Daniel - 7,8, 9, etc.) nothing made sense). Meaning, most of Daniel is not written in chronological order...

Book of Daniel - Relevant time periods

Thanks Dougg, but perhaps we might try and stay with Chapter 2 since the other early chapters clearly stay wit Babylon. But Chspter 2 does give us a big picture view of the 4 kingdoms on the outside of the box and the detail verses (41-45) of the 4th kingdom. So we can leave the other...

Book of Daniel - Relevant time periods

Well, if you guys do not mind, I would like to do a little re-start on this topic. And perhaps it might be better if I ask the question to learn your opinions on the 3,4, or 5 etc., number of periods this book can be carved into. So, I have mentioned that first section of the Book of Daniel...

Who, or what, is the dreaded bogey man of prophecy?

I know ! Sorry, but I cut / pasted a section directly from my commentary to respond to this issue being discussed.
