How about learning about non-SDA beliefs?

Do you feel like you’ve learned stuff kcnalp?

A: Pre-existence: Yes B: universalism; no. C: “Evolution “ is not an accurate word. Rather, God has the power to make filthy things white, and raise up the broken. D: this is not you your own power to do whatever the heck you want. Rather, it is God’s power to do God’s will. This is part of...

“Species” (for want of a better term) isn’t really a focus here. Rather the focus is becoming one with God- we are indeed saved by Him. That’s central to the entire atonement, see John 17.

Becoming one with God / like God / Joint heirs with Christ / sharing all that the Father has = 100% believed. But what is getting off the rails is when anyone implies that God is being replaced, or making it sound like being a disciple of Christ is about getting super-powers.

Again, the planet thing isn't accurate. Still that statement is RAMPANT in anti-Mormon circles. To a much lesser degree, there are even some actual Mormons who get their wires crossed in the regard (just like every group has folks that get their wires crosses on many subjects).

It's inaccurate. Official essay on the subject, underlining mine for emphasis: "How do Latter-day Saints envision exaltation? Since human conceptions of reality are necessarily limited in mortality, religions struggle to adequately articulate their visions of eternal glory. As the Apostle...

@Backlit , it is accurate to say that SDA believe that Christ took on the alias of Micheal before being born of Mary? (Please fill me in accurately here )

    JW's, SDA's, Unitarians and Mormons

Like in the case for anti-SDA stuff, anti-Mormon stuff has these ideas that have just been in that group for 50+ years based off complete misconceptions and just get handed down over the years.

    JW's, SDA's, Unitarians and Mormons

Again, actual "Mormon" here. The "own planet thing" isn't accurate. The actual belief is that disciples of Christ become one with Him, John 17 & Romans 8 being great chapters on this.
  11. J

    JW's, SDA's, Unitarians and Mormons

No. Even “Mormons” believe a disciple of Christ becomes one WITH God, not replacing Him or remotely leaving.
  12. J

    JW's, SDA's, Unitarians and Mormons

Again, SDA and Mormons flat out acknowledge and celebrate the divinity of Christ.

    JW's, SDA's, Unitarians and Mormons

<Actual Latter Day Saint (aka "Mormon") here > Both SDA and LDS Christians have dietary restrictions. I don't recall the SDA ones too well off the top of my head. For LDS Christians, it's a promise to God to abstain from smoking/alcohol/coffee/tea and trying to take good care of your body...

    JW's, SDA's, Unitarians and Mormons

"Cult" is not a productive word. They are all different belief systems (like Catholics, Orthodox, various Protestant sects, etc). If you want to learn about each, it's best to spend individual time with each one, just like you would with Catholic, Orthodox, etc.
  15. J

    JW's, SDA's, Unitarians and Mormons

Note: SDA and "Mormons" 100% believe that Jesus Christ is God.

    Marriage Is Not For Everybody

I'd say that having sex before the ceremony at all is a bad idea- better for everyone that way.
  17. J

    Marriage Is Not For Everybody

If two people go out and publically visually declare their commitment to each other, then that is their ceremony :).
  18. J

    Marriage Is Not For Everybody

That commitment visually stated between adults. (The above is speaking broadly, obviously God's definition is more specific).
  19. J

    Marriage Is Not For Everybody

Pre-history. Even speaking secularly, marriage pre-dates written history across all cultures. Again, I'm NOT talking about the cake, the dress, the aisle, etc-- those don't matter. I'm talking about commitment visually stated between adults.
  20. J

    Marriage Is Not For Everybody

I didn't say the cake made a person married. Rather, stating the importance of visual stated commitment between the adults involved. If sex made a person married, then every rape victim even today is then married their attacked. I don't remotely to believe that to be God's will.
