    I am sorry.

This is very big and Christ-like of you @justbyfaith . May Christ ever be with you.

    The necessity of the Trinity

Barney, are you a Jehovah's Witness? (Not hating, just asking. Sorry if this was addressed already)

    The necessity of the Trinity

A simple theology test is still a theology test. Note: I am not hating on this position, just stating what it is. I VERY firmly believe that Christ is the Son of God, and that fact is *extremely* important.

    The necessity of the Trinity

And hence you believe that we are saved by passing a theology test that includes stating that Christ is God who became man. I'm not hating on that position, merely stating what it is.

    The necessity of the Trinity

Or saved people that are horribly educated.

    The necessity of the Trinity

Your choices are: 1)We are saved by passing an academic theology test, which includes ____. 2)We are not saved by passing an academic theology test. It's that simple. You can't have it both ways.

    The necessity of the Trinity

Then you have added that level of theology test as a prerequeiste to salvation. I'm not hating on you or harassing or anything like that (I just wanted to state that to be clear). But I am trying to gain an accurate representation of what it is your beliefs are.

    The necessity of the Trinity

That's *AFTER* a person accept Christ as their Lord and Savior.
  9. J

    The necessity of the Trinity

I am talking to him AND I am talking to you. Now, do you acknowledge that since we aren't saved by passing a theology test, that @APAK is your brother in Christ?

    The necessity of the Trinity

A fair post. My question is: 'knowing' academically, or 'knowing' as in to have a relationship with? We are saved by having a relationship with Christ, not by academics. Too many people mix up those.

    The necessity of the Trinity

I am talking about people being saved. That is the MOST important question, before we debate academics. I practice what I preach and acknowledge the MANY people that have an extremely faulty knowledge of God as being His, despite their faulty knowledge and their sins. If you were to be...

    The necessity of the Trinity

So you do believe Christ is talking to himself? (Sorry, I'm not trying to be obstinate here, just trying to be thorough)

    The necessity of the Trinity

I'm not doubting the importance of having a solid academic theological education. I have stated that it's very important several times. But it does NOT save us. I acknowledge @APAK and MANY MANY other people as brothers and sisters in Christ, despite their (no offense) horrendous theological...

    The necessity of the Trinity

I don't disagree that some people go decades with horrendous theological knowledge. That happens with painful frequency. But I also don't go around saying these people aren't saved. You have done that exact thing with @APAK .
  15. J

    The necessity of the Trinity

Either we are: 1) Saved by our ability to pass a theology test and hence @APAK is not a saved. 2) Or we are not, and you acknowledge @APAK as a brother in Christ (even if a very misinformed one).
  16. J

    The necessity of the Trinity

This little paragraph is self contradictory.
  17. J

    The necessity of the Trinity

If you truly do not believe we are saved by our ability to pass a theology test, then you would happily acknowledge @APAK as your brother in Christ, even if you believe he is extremely misinformed (and then loving try to help your brother learn).
  18. J

    The necessity of the Trinity

You didn't answer my question: is a person saved by their ability to pass an academic theology test? Because you are inconsistent. You answer "no" with your words, but then with your actions you deride others as not being saved because they doin't pass a theology test.
  19. J

    The necessity of the Trinity

Is a person saved by their ability to pass a theology test?
  20. J

    The necessity of the Trinity

Are we saved by passing a theology test? No. A person may be EXTREMELY misinformed about God and completely fail to academically understand Him, but we are not saved by passing theology test. That's not to say academic learning isn't important (because it very much is), but it is not how we...
