Actually, the UK patliament, by law can no longer make law for Canada.. Thus if Charles abdicates, any law passed in the UK to give the crown to another cannot automatically apply in Canada.. The throne of Canada would then be vacant ...

Im in Manitoba. As to the Queen... It is not just polite tradition. Its written in to our constitution.. Without the queen there is no crown... And any further acts of governance cannot receive royal assent.. If Charles abdicates its gonna get ugly here..

And yet without a queen, by our own constitution, our governments can pass no laws... Any further acts would be invalid until there was unanimous agreement on a change to the 'person of the Queen' And i dont think thats gonna happen... Hence crisis...

When the current Queen dies, if Charles abdicates, it will throw Canada into a huge constitutional crisis... Because every provincial legislature, and parliament would have to unanimously agree on a new monarch .... Pax!
