    what's the point anymore

For a point of clarification: Trinitarians and LDS and LDS acknowledge the Father and the Son to be two different persons, so this sentence doesn't really make a lot of sense. This is a JW-specific belief. I've been to a lot of other groups (including many exotics) and never encountered...

    Christian Prepping

LDS person clarifying things here: LDS theology and culture to emphasize being good stewards of our physical things and trying to be generally able to take care of yourself / your family. Obviously we do occasionally fall down and need help, but it is a good thing to trying to live within your...

    Are We Required to Tithe?

The 10% isn't for Him because He needs it, but for our benefit: the act of giving reminds us to put the Lord first and not idolize money.

    Are We Required to Tithe?

My thoughts as well. God gave me 100%, I should at least give 10% back. Money has always been an idol for man (not just in OT times) and giving back helps keep the Lord first.

Does the Bible Version or Translation Really Matter?

For me, the big picture here is not so much the words themselves, but getting the correct meaning/understanding of scripture. I'm not a sola scriptura person, partially for this reasoning -- finding that we should have other tools in our toolkit too to guide our understanding.

    Eternal Security

Can you provide me a scripture quote that talks about your belief in a God that is so full of hated he created a bunch of people just to send them to Hell? I want to read the verses of scripture that talks your belief there.

    Eternal Security

Where in the Bible may I read about these individuals that God so hated that he created for no other purpose than sentence them to Hell? Where may I read about a God so full of wrath and hate?

    ANSWERING "IRREFUTABLE QUESTIONS" from bible.con

If you believe your faith to be supiour to Catholics, I would invite you to show them Truth by your actions and words- let your light shine. No need to rely on attacking, name calling, or smear campaigns. I have studied Catholicism for many years, and attended more Catholic events than I can...

    ANSWERING "IRREFUTABLE QUESTIONS" from bible.con

I believe that it is a Christian duty to love each other and to always be truth. As such, it makes me really sad to see a Christian site doing a smear campaign like the one in the link. @epostle1 , and all the other Catholic posters, my heart goes out to you for this.

    Eternal Security

Pardon my bluntness, if the theology you profess is correct, every person who is doomed to Hell has zero choice in the matter, and every person sentenced to Heaven has zero choice in the matter. Under such a Calvinistic regime, it doesn't remotely matter what any of us believe, say, or think...

Here we go again, they never give up.

Scam. How to reduce the number of these emails-- Spam filters Have a second email account that you use only for "please make a user account" things that don't really matter. And then never check that box unless you absolutely most.

    Eternal Security

Hence my original statement: OSAS is dependent on a saved person not having free will. And has no choice to get it back. It is gone. He has zero choice. Christ ALWAYS had/has free will. EVERYTHING He did/does he does willingly-- he ALWAYS has a choice, and is NEVER forced. He always has a...

Do you believe a person who's come to God can choose to leave? Do they have that ability.

    Depression

Well said. Many illnesses are long term and can be helped with proper medical treatment. The fact that an illness is chronic doesn't mean the sufferer doesn't have faith -- just like Paul whom did have His thorn is the flesh removed.

The same reason anyone chooses mammon over Christ.

    It just simple logic actually.
  18. J

    Eternal Security

Does a person have free will to walk away from Christ and say "no thank you"? OSAS is dependent on that answer being "no, that free will doesn't exist".
  19. J

    Eternal Security

Before you can talk with the larger Christian audience about OSAS, you must first talk about whether or not a person always has free will. This because OSAS is theologically dependent on the idea that a saved person no longer has free will in this regard.

    Depression

I dealt with clinical depression for 20 years. There were probably some numb-skulls along the way that said "just pray harder" but such stupidity doesn't deserve me remembering them. Having a very real and very vibrant relationship with Christ doesn't mean all ills will just disappear--...
