    Contradiction Or Paradox?

So, how do you explain the fact that Jesus brake the sabbath (John 5:16-18) and yet was without sin? I believe that the change in law took place either on the day of Jesus' birth or else on the day of His baptism; at which time He became High Priest according to the order of Melchizedec.

    The god of mormonism, Omnipresent?

By all means do so (try to keep it short and not too lengthy).

    Contradiction Or Paradox?

That is not my reason for defending God. That is what I am saying (John 5:18). Except that Jesus didn't sin when He violated the sabbath; because with a change in priesthood came a change in the law (Hebrews 7:12 and context). He came not after a carnal commandment but after the power of an...

If the Holy Ghost is involved, expect perfection.

    Contradiction Or Paradox?

Sorry, I use these forums as a soundingboard to preach sound doctrine; and the subject crossed my mind as I responded, so I spoke on the issue.

    Contradiction Or Paradox?

He doesn't, because it is his intention to cast disparity on the Bible. The Lord will judge him for this, I wipe may hands of him and what he is doing. It is given by inspiration of the Lord (2 Timothy 3:16). If the Holy Ghost is speaking through that person, you can indeed expect perfect...

    Must You Be Born Again?

The inward work of being filled with the Holy Ghost is promised to those who receive baptism in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins. And, while someone may receive the Holy Spirit merely because of asking (Luke 11:9-13), the more absolute promise is found in Acts of the Apostles...

    Contradiction Or Paradox?

Hi @Grailhunter, There is a reconciliation for every one of the apparent contradictions that you have brought up; and if you brought them up more slowly I would be able to show that. But because of the overwhelming nature of your posts, I am content to simply say as a blanket statement, by...

    Contradiction Or Paradox?

The stipulation in verse 9 does not change the reality of what the letter of the law says in verse 10 (thou shalt not do "any" work). If the Lord wanted to make your point clear, He would have said in verse 10, thou shalt not do any of "thy" work. Instead He said, thou shalt not do "any work"...

    Contradiction Or Paradox?

Again, I do not disagree with the premise that we ought to do holy work on the sabbath day; I am just saying that the letter of the law in Exodus 20:10 tells us that we ought not to do "any".
  12. J

    Contradiction Or Paradox?

The obvious answer is that you keep the sabbath day holy by obeying the sabbath day law, that you shall not do "any" work on it.

    Contradiction Or Paradox?

While I agree with this premise, I am interested in what part of the context declares that one can do "holy" work on the sabbath day. It seems to me that the letter in Exodus 20:10 tells us that you ought not to do "any" work on that day; whether it be holy or common.

    Contradiction Or Paradox?

You missed my point. Fact is, Jesus healed on the sabbath day, even thought that was a violation of the letter of the law; because it was obedience to something greater in the law, "Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself". I said that obeying the spirit of what the law requires will, for the...

    Contradiction Or Paradox?

My bad. I had heard with my ears at one point that Hosea was a priest. Perhaps that information is hidden someplace in the Bible where I have now been unable to find it; but until or unless I do find it, I concede the point.

    Contradiction Or Paradox?

Why did the Lord violate His own standard of the law, as @amadeus pointed out (Contradiction Or Paradox?), when He told Hosea to choose a wife of whoredoms for himself? In doing that He was basically telling Hosea to violate the letter of the law in order to proclaim a message to the people of...

    Contradiction Or Paradox?

@ReChoired, The letter of the sabbath law states that you shall not do any work on the sabbath day (Exodus 20:10). In John 5:16-17, it becomes clear that Jesus is claiming that His Father was working and that so was He on that particular sabbath day. Was Jesus lying? . . . No, Jesus did not...

    Contradiction Or Paradox?

It only goes to show that the Lord is not limited; not even by things that He has previously spoken. The Lord decided to go outside the box in order to proclaim a specific message to Israel; He told one of His prophets to basically violate the law so that His message would be even more...
