From what you said earlier, I have the impression you believe Jesus returned in the days of the apostles ... and I am trying to see how that fits with Paul's comments in his last epistles.

Do you see Paul mentioning the return of Jesus Christ as a future event in his last epistles to Timothy & Titus? Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ" (Titus 2:13)

I am praying that we learn from disagreements in this forum. When we agree, we are blessed. When we disagree, it is an opportunity to shape our attitude to others.

As I understand Preterism, they would say those events were fulfilled in the past of fulfilled spiritually - Mat 24:21 ... fulfilled Jerusalem 70AD 1 Thes 4:17 ... our Christian life: "And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus" 2 Thes 2:8...

Everything Jesus said and did had a purpose ... all of the miracles can be seen as conveying a Gospel truth. If we see miracles as Jesus doing something for His own benefit, we are likely to miss the teaching He was trying to convey ... not only to the disciples but to all Christians down...

It is difficult to tell what he means by saying "the bible is an idol" ... I think church creeds that claim to be based on the Bible can become idols ... but the Holy Bible itself is the literal, God-breathed Word of God.

My belief is that if a couple have consensual sex they are married in the sight of God ... which would mean an awful lot of people are living in adultery ... unless they have repented and asked forgiveness. Fulfilling the legal requirements of the country are a different matter.

I like the way you have focused on Jesus as our Bridegroom, and linked that to His claim to be God. I am sometimes surprised by how many times Jesus made this claim, but usually in ways that are only obvious to the ones who search the Scriptures.

Do you think Jesus taught "an eye for an eye"? I am not against prepping ... in fact I have food & water stored for an unexpected event. However, I don't see how I could keep this all for myself and not share it with others who were without. I might feel differently if I had young children to feed.

I live in a retirement village ... as you face the challenges of old age, keeping a sense of humour is a great advantage ... so sharing a laugh with a neighbour is a great blessing ... our brains do all sorts of wonderful things when we laugh, so it seems God wants us to laugh.
