Death Penalty: All in Favor? All Opposed?

As a fellow Aussie, I agree. I am old enough to remember the Lindy Chamberlain court case ... and we know how that turned out. Here in WA I have seen in my lifetime 3 men exonerated after being found guilty of murder. I am not opposed to the police or the military killing people if the...

    Should I buy a sword?

I suppose some might read it that way ... I do not because it just isn't what is happening in the Church. It is evident that some are "full of the Holy Spirit" and others are just lukewarm believers. The Scriptures distinguish these different groups in a number of places, such as Mat...

    Should I buy a sword?

One might think so and yet somehow we muddle through without a glock in the glovebox :clmSmlx

    Should I buy a sword?

I am not sure how as Christians we could justify not sharing food with other people who are starving, even at the cost of our own family's suffering. Not sure I am a good enough Christian to carry that out ... but I think it is what Jesus would do.

    Should I buy a sword?

I would say that all are saved through the work of the Holy Spirit, but not all are filled with (sealed by) the Holy Spirit. There is too much disparity among Christians for me to think otherwise. In the Laodicean church there were "lukewarm" believers and "overcomers" (Rev 3:14-22) Paul speaks...

    Should I buy a sword?

WWJD = What would Jesus do Some Christian preppers say the Church will go through the Tribulation and there will be those who survive to come out the other side. If I had a supply of food and hungry people wanted to take it, I would just let them. But if I had a family of children I am not...

Some will die today and be cast forever into the Lake of Fire

I agree with your very clear explanation. What is your take on Rev 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

    Should I buy a sword?

Another reason I like the KJV ... modern Bibles leave out "without a cause". A Christian friend of mine in the US is what is called a "prepper" ... besides storing food he has guns to ward off intruders. I have a hard time accepting that as a WWJD sort of thing.

    Matthew 25:42-46

A very good reminder. As I heard a pastor say, if we can't do, we can give, if we can't give, we can pray.

    Should I buy a sword?

Yes, I agree with that. When a person is trying to physically harm you or others, their life is forfeit. If a non lethal remedy was available, that would be the first choice. It will be interesting to see what may happen in the future if the persecution of Christians escalates to the point...

    Should I buy a sword?

Thanks for the compliment ... I am an octogenarian and grew up on a farm firing a rifle from the time I was 10.

    Should I buy a sword?

I have noticed my American Christian friends have quite a different outlook on owning firearms than we do here in Australia. The thought of keeping a weapon for personal protection is so unfamiliar to our way of life that it seems quite bizarre. Not that we don't have plenty of crime and plenty...

    Should I buy a sword?

I have heard it said that the word for sword here (machaira) is more like a large knife which is sometimes used for butchering animals. Some have suggested that since Jesus was leaving them He was telling them they would now have to provide for themselves. What do you think of that idea? And...

    Should I buy a sword?

You make a very good point ... though I am pretty sure I would use physical force to protect my family if someone was attacking them. Peter thought he was protecting Jesus ... but of course we know that Jesus understood God's plan for Him to die. Is the equivalent of a sword these days a gun...

    Should I buy a sword?

Yes, that is interesting. I have always thought that Romans 13:4 authorizes government agencies like the police & military to use physical force, and even kill if necessary. Do you think Jesus was telling the disciples to get a sword for their personal protection?

    Should I buy a sword?

Luke 22:36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one. Mat 26:52 Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish...

    The t.r.u.m.p ignorantly speaks Scripture

    I never trust anonymous "sources".

    What if?

I am sorry your experience has been less than ideal ... I feel like that sometimes when I listen to the news too much ... but the small circle I move in is very supportive and generous. Even with strangers, I seem to get treated very well ... my daughter reckons its because I am an old man and...

What Are You Up To Today?

I think NZ gets colder than here ... 8-18 degrees today ... that's about average for winter here. I had family living in Gisborne for some time ... are you anywhere near there? Every photo they sent us was like a post card ... so beautiful.

What Are You Up To Today?

Here in Perth, Western Australia we are in Winter but the sun is shining so about to take my coffee outdoors to soak up some vitamin D.
